Shock It wasn't me!! Grin

I'm still waiting for my flavourly box. They've asked me to wait until the end of this week (will be two weeks from ordering!) I've been super nice so far but I might get grumpy soon...

FourAndDone · 13/11/2013 07:36

Rosie some 12yo girls WANT to do their nails and hate football. I'm sure the parents on this thread know what their children want for Xmas and don't need your un helpful advice Smile

Oreocrumbs · 13/11/2013 07:38

I'm still waiting for mine too Spotty. I ordered on the 4th. I may or may not have a parcel at the depot so I'm going down after nursery run. If it isn't there I won't be happy!

MissLurkalot · 13/11/2013 07:38

Oh Spotty, I'm so sorry, I meant Rosie!!!
Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 13/11/2013 07:41

The thing which I find odd, Oreo, is that the boxes aren't sealed so easy to open up and think mmmm yum I'll have that! (Not that I'm saying posties can't be trusted!)

cherrycherry41 · 13/11/2013 07:42

Just bought the elc red wooden play kitchen

www.elc.co.uk/Wooden-Cottage-Kitchen---Red/136819,default,pd.html

Half price to £75 plus an extra 25% off code (check emails for anyone registered with elc!)

Making it £56.25! Grin

DD is going to go ape!

RosieBloom32 · 13/11/2013 07:43

Well yes, arguing a point just because your defensive about a bargain thread is logical Wink Grin .

I'm not saying that 12yo aren't interested in naik varnish. My point is that the reason they are is because the sexualisation of young girls is widespread and this thread goes a long way to proving it. So yes, buy them nail varnish because they are 'into it' but at least understand why they are into it and that by buying it you are reinforcing the point in their eyes.

And saying I'm not sexist Inbiught my dd a science kit really is gender stereotryping isn't it? You might as well say 'I bought her a boys toy'.

Anyway, as said already, the over riding love of this thread will win out over any valid points I make. So I will bow out now.

LaTrucha · 13/11/2013 07:48

Scarves at Asos. From £6 reduced from £25

Oreocrumbs · 13/11/2013 07:48

Hmm I didn't realise that Spotty, this is my first box. I've cancelled it already, I don't have time for this faff on.

The nearest sorting office is further away than the supermarket! The point of these things is to have lovely treats delivered to me at home, if I have to trek out for them I'd rather have my own choice from the shops!!

Pachacuti · 13/11/2013 07:53

And saying I'm not sexist Inbiught my dd a science kit really is gender stereotryping isn't it? You might as well say 'I bought her a boys toy'

Huh? So anyone who says that they bought a teenage girl nail varnish is reinforcing the sexualisation of young girls, but anyone who says that they bought something else is "really gender stereotyping". Is there any possible way for anyone to escape your censure?

FourAndDone · 13/11/2013 07:55

Rosie I don't think your points are valid actually. My kids boys and girls like nail varnish because it's like paint. Nothing to do with sexualisation. You obviously feel very strongly about it so why not start a thread discussing the problem with nobody others that feel the same?
And leave us in our festive cheery peace Hmm

notso · 13/11/2013 07:59

Rosie my DD is 13 she has her nails painted, DS2 is 2.10 he has his nails painted. DD is getting some new running spikes for Christmas and a team hoody for netball, as well as nail varnish and other make up.
I wasn't allowed to wear make up until I was about 16, my Mum had a similar view to you. Although she wore make up I wasn't allowed to. I used to buy cheap orange foundation from the market and plaster it on on the school bus to cover my spots. I used to get made fun of because I wasn't allowed a bra for ages or to shave my legs.
I don't want my daughter to sneak around behind my back or feel uncomfortable about her changing body so when she started expressing an interest in wearing concealer I went with her to choose some that is suitable for her skin. I encourage her to experiment with make up at home where we can talk about what is appropriate. We have plenty of discussions about sexualisation of young girls, we have just been chatting about the Miley Cirus video as they were speaking about it on R4.
So please don't feel sad for us based on a couple of comments on a bargain thread thank you.

TooWetToWoo · 13/11/2013 08:06

Didn't realise nail varnish was sexual Hmm

Anyway, 2kidsintow I've found nail foils to be very, very tricky to apply IME, maybe get some stickers instead. some here on Born Pretty Amazon and ebay too

macandcheesewithbaconbits · 13/11/2013 08:11

Does anyone have and ELC code they can pm pleaseThanks

GinotPrigio · 13/11/2013 08:11

Does anybody have an Early Learning Centre code that they are not using? Pretty please?? Smile

platespinnermum · 13/11/2013 08:17

Can I join the queue for and ELC code please? Been eyeing up that kitchen for weeks and failing to justify but at that price even DH would be happy!

GinotPrigio · 13/11/2013 08:19

macandcheese I just found a 20% code online that works with the toys that are already half price - XMAS20 - expires 18th Nov

soundstrue · 13/11/2013 08:19

Thanks zip zap, hopefully I'll control my spending in the poundshop.
I'm on my way to work but have two elc codes sitting at home. So if ginot and plates need later I can help out.

pantshavenames · 13/11/2013 08:20

Rather specific but the white stuff Milton Keynes store is having a 1 yr birthday tomorrow. If you spend over &50 you get a free gift worth £22 apparently.

GinotPrigio · 13/11/2013 08:21

platepinnermum Try that code I just posted. I bought that kitchen too. £60 with the code and free delivery!

GinotPrigio · 13/11/2013 08:26

Thank you soundstrue but I found a 20% code online so I have used that!

CatAmongThePigeons · 13/11/2013 08:26

I have an ELC 25% code if anyone needs it. I'm always late getting these things

JaquelineHyde · 13/11/2013 08:42

Morning!

ThisIsMeNow My order was cancelled, quite late though and definitely not in order as I saw other order numbers after mine were cancelled much earlier.

As soon as they cancelled it I rang up and complained making it clear had spoken to them prior to the cancellation and had been assured that my order would be honoured. They guy I spoke t was very nice and re-did the order over the phone saying he would speak to a manager about the Zest part of my order and see what he could do. The order arrived Saturday morning, including the Zest stuff.

I think they realised I wasn't going to take no for an answer, before re-training I used to run a national customer service department so I know which buttons to press when it comes to complaints Grin Grin

notso · 13/11/2013 08:48

Also the boys loving football example made me laugh out loud as I have an ongoing debate with my in-laws over football. They think all my three boys should be into football and nothing else. They have bought them football related presents from birth whereas DD has been allowed to like anything, MIL went pale when she saw DS2 pushing his new dolls pram and they thought I was joking when I said we were buying DS3 a kitchen for his birthday.
