Thanks again Reastie. Such an addictive thread. Crackers all half price at Waitrose. Have just bought some make your own for the first time. Anyone got any ideas for gifts to go in them?

Clr2014 · 10/11/2013 16:42

Cannot believe the mooing cow jar! Totally hilarious... Who'd have thought?? Grin

AuntieMaggie · 10/11/2013 16:46

Tea mine hasn't come yet.

DTisMYdoctor · 10/11/2013 16:47

For any Octonauts fans - the Gup E is £10 in store in Sainsburys. Currently £11.99 on Amazon and more elsewhere. I posted on the last thread before I realised a new one had started.

JaquelineHyde · 10/11/2013 17:23

Thanks for another thread Reastie Thanks

Just marking my place as there are still 2 pages left on the other one.

CatAmongThePigeons · 10/11/2013 17:24

Thank you Reastie Flowers

I need to fully catch up on the last thread although my bank balance is suffering!

Afternoon all. Brew and Cake all round.

Thanks Reastie, and howdy Issaac!

Main things I now need are 3DS games, Zelda, Mario, professor Layton (not the new one, last years - miracle mask) and anything else that comes recommended.

Someone was asking about bulk buying cinnamon sticks - last year I got a really big bag for £1 odd from the Asian food aisle in Tesco - worth keeping an eye out. You could also try any independent oriental/Asian food shops in town if you're passing.

Cheapest 3ds - I bought mine last weekend. Paid £140 for it. Tesco have them for £150 and you get the power adapter free (but you have to add it to the basket, it isn't automatic). I then used a code TDX-7DXM should work for £10 off. You have to set up a new account though, but that is easy enough.

RevoltInParadise · 10/11/2013 17:28

Just marking place as I have popped in and out if a few if the threads and have had dime great bargains, thank you! I have now got lists from the dc and fear I may need your help again to save my budget! Will be back layer tonight to post lists if that's ok?

pigleychez · 10/11/2013 17:28

lots of fab bargain! Thanks everyone Thanks

Not specifically christmas but still present related. We are soon to move house and relocate. DD's will both be leaving school/nursery and id like to give the teachers/nursery staff present but what?
Something useful/thoughtful?? But also not too expensive as there's 3 in DD1's class and 5 at the nursery.
Anyone any ideas?

notso · 10/11/2013 17:31

Money off your Festive Goat!
Just bought Ideal Home magazine and there is a voucher for £5 off when you spend £10 on Christmas decorations in Ikea.

VoldemortsNipple · 10/11/2013 17:33

So happy to see Isaac back, it made me smile on my way back home from miserable rl shopping.

Remember a few threads back, somebody was asking where to get cheap cellophane, well.....

Lidl are getting theirs in on Thursday. £1 a roll. Plain cellophane in 10 metres long. Christmas patterned cellophane wrap 5 metres long.

FourAndDone · 10/11/2013 17:34

glad your back where you belong! Smile

siblingrevelry · 10/11/2013 17:37

Thanks oreo, it was me looking for the cinnamon sticks.

And crafty, thanks for your post-very sobering and a reminder that, whilst we shouldn't feel guilty for living in comparative wealth and comfort, we should also help others. Makes me a bit ashamed actually, getting giddy about Xmas and gift-giving. Have spent all day chasing bargains and haven't given a second thought to what's happened in the Phillipines.

2kidsintow · 10/11/2013 17:39

Thanks for whoever recommended the 20% off code at Toysrus.

I took DD2 there today, she chose her bike for Christmas. I'd budgeted £100 optimistically for a 20" wheel bike. SHe chose one that was discounted to £79.99 in store and then the 20% discount brought it down to £64. :) Happy shopper! (The rest will cover the cost of the furby that I didn't want or need for her that I bought on impulse yesterday because I was impressed with the bargain it was. :)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 10/11/2013 17:39

Oreo- I always buy a few DS games for dd either from Amazon or ebay, resolutely second hand.....Recently got the doctor who ones for about £3 each. They are always absolutely fine, and tbh, because she blows hot and cold with the Nintendo I'm not shelling out for new.

For teachers- there are some lovely things on ebay- when dd left nursery I got a handpainted ceramic plate showing the nursery, the wee school bus and the children, for the driver of the bus I got a handmade plaque with fimo bus, driver and kids, and for dd's teacher, a plaque for her classroom door with her and the kids done in fimo. They went down really well. The seller IIRC was called digyurfish or something! The plate was about £9 and the plaques were about £6 each.

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 10/11/2013 17:40

Another member posted this on another thread but thought it was worth repeating here in case it helped somebody - 20% off and free delivery at www.toysrus.co.uk with code HSAVE20NOV valid just for today I think

pigleychez · 10/11/2013 17:40

Someone was asking for pillow pets..

Selected ones are half price on Amazon. Some down to £7.50

notso · 10/11/2013 17:41

pigley Amazon have a 12 cup teapot for £11, I'm putting that in hamper with some bargain mugs I found as well as the £3 chocolate biscuits and some tea and coffees for DS1's teachers.
When I was a TA we had one of the big teapots, it was brilliant.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 10/11/2013 17:47

Nobody told me the biscuit tin revolved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did I not know it revolved?

newrose · 10/11/2013 17:54

Went RL shopping this weekend and discovered the glory that is The Range! Got some grolsch style bottles for my bramble gin (smaller than the gigantic ikea ones), loads of cheap crafty bits and made mental note of all the small jars, vases and tealight holders for TA gifts . . .

And thanks to everyone who mentioned the Bookpeople - Montalbano set with codes came in at a ridiculously cheap price Smile

Oreocrumbs · 10/11/2013 17:55

Thanks DrinksSangria - I didn't even think about buying used, so I will check that out.

For those making tea and coffee hampers for school - I bought in Tesco a couple of days ago 2 x 750g boxes of Yorkshire tea bags for £9 and 200g jars of Carte Noir for £4.

I decided not to buy the M&S tree biscuit tin and I'm regretting it Sad. So fingers crossed they will reduce the globe and I will get that instead! I will buy the tree next year and start an charming and not all that tasteful collection.

Titsalinabumsquash · 10/11/2013 17:58

DS has declared he needs hex bugs... Has anyone seen any sets at a bargain price?

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 10/11/2013 17:58

Isaac is back??

tapes Isaac to the floor now stay there!

Thanks reastie Thanks

CatAmongThePigeons · 10/11/2013 17:58

Thanks for the cellophane heads up. Lidls to the rescue!

Anyone know bargains for luggage tags and brown paper please?

I need to start wrapping very soon.

I managed to get the last musical tree tin yes yesterday. I was pleased as punch and the DC adore it too. Hopefully they'll have more on offer again as I'd love to get one for DM too.
