I'm getting it-the awful twitch-have I bought the right thing for the right people or have I got it terrible wrong. Thinking maybe I should just buy some more tat stuff to make it feel better.
Trying to resist urge and just wrap and leave it there!
Anyone else twitching yet??

Me!

DS2's stuff all looks a bit... worthy. Does he need some totally silly extra thing to raise a grin?

DH's present is worse, being somewhat non-existent apart from the furniture we both agreed to buy instead of presents. Gulp.

SledsImOn · 19/12/2012 11:39

I am twitching too. I have still got to get all the food. Do you think Sainsburys will be open on Monday?!

FireOverBethlehem · 19/12/2012 11:47

Ting how old is DS2?

My DS and his dad are both getting whoopie cushions this year, for daft lads together hilarity. I may regret this by 10 on Christmas morning but it should raise a giggle. Hmm

OddBoots · 19/12/2012 11:50

Oh yes, I get like this all the time. I only relax when the shops shut on Christmas eve and I know there is nothing more I can do.

awaywego1 · 19/12/2012 11:53

Glad it's not just me Grin we must resist the twitch tho! I will not buy anything else! apart from the 2 presents I've yet to buy and food

Helenagrace · 19/12/2012 11:59

I succumbed to the twitch last year. Ha! Not this year!! I am busying myself baking so I can't go near the shops. I even refused to bail DH out when he said yesterday that he needed a secret Santa gift. I told him to get it himself.

I shall beat the twitch!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/12/2012 12:19
Grin I'm doing my food shop on Sunday ( or I'll trip down there at whatever unholy hour they'll open on Monday. IIRC it's 6am ) I've got my Nectar Points to spend - yes Grin

But The Twitch is making me want to go to Waitrose.
No idea why exactly. I'm sure I can get all I need at Sainsburys.
My nearest Waitrose is 6+ miles away.
But I just fancy floating round it's hallowed halls (and buy white chocolate ice-cream)

awaywego1 · 19/12/2012 12:38

It's just the feel of waitrose-so reassuringly expensive Grin I'm feeling the same-when in fact my bank account is much more aldi at the moment Blush

overflowingmum · 19/12/2012 12:41

oh, yes. In fact I think I am still Twitching from last year - not sure I ever really got over it!
I am feeling a rising sense of panic today realising that the last date for ordering stuff on-line is upon us pretty much, meaning all Twitch satisfying will now have to be done in real shops....
I was really going to beat the Twitch this year, but I feel it has me firmly in its grip....aaaarrrrgggghhh!

drinkyourmilk · 19/12/2012 13:38

I'm twitch free. For the first time.ever.

I know everyone likes what they are getting, and for some I've also wrapped the gift receipt inside. If they don't like it, change it.

TeamBacon · 19/12/2012 13:45

Ahhh I'd forgotten about the twitch. That's what made me spend £50 on playmobil yesterday then.

Stupid effing twitch.

Oh crap, I also bought a christmas jumper (had forgotten about that!)

overflowingmum · 19/12/2012 18:14

teamBacon the Twitch also made me buy a Christmas Jumper a couple of days ago!Wink
Well having sorted out some of my stash of stuff that is still unwrapped I have realised that I don't actually have anywhere else to store/hide anything....do you think that will calm the Twitch???Xmas Hmm

TeamBacon · 19/12/2012 18:15

Christmas jumper has arrived! Haha.. its great. The twitch knows what its doing. :)

awaywego1 · 19/12/2012 18:49

Overflowing-I think wrapping stuff is a good way to calm twitch, also keeping away from amazon 'one click' and drinking mulled wine obviously! It doesn't help that all the sales are starting now-increases the twitch anti. Stay strong people! Grin

BeaWheesht · 19/12/2012 19:10

In the last 2 days the twitch has made me buy;

A torch key ring (dh)
A tiara (dd)
Finger football (dh)
Wooden necklace and bracelet (dniece)
Hello kitty pen (dniece)
Numerous sweets and chocolates
No likey no lightly socks (dh)
Santas little helper top (dd)
A fridge magnet (don't even know who for!!)

And there's probably something I've forgotten about. Save me from myself/the twitch!

awaywego1 · 19/12/2012 19:26

bea step away from the twitch, it is not your friend. Wrap those twitchy presents up and let's hear no more about it. Smile

OP posts:
Benaberry · 19/12/2012 19:37

Ah yes, the twitch! Think presents are ok but twitching about food. We pick up the butchers order on Sunday ans I can't for the life of me remember what I've ordered apart from the actual turkey...

Veggies are arriving Monday from Abel and Cole because I forgot to book a supermarket delivery, so I'm just praying there's enough of everything in the box as its a bit pot luck!

I'm not normally organised early enough to twitch too badly, bit being on maternity leave this year, i've had more time on my hands, which I've discovered isn't necessarily a good thing...

BeaWheesht · 19/12/2012 19:42

But, but, but.....

PoppyWearer · 19/12/2012 19:44

I am twitching about drinks. Everyone in our fucking families likes to drink something different, and I'm convinced I've forgotten someone's favourite tipple.

Even the soft drinks - they all like different stuff, I have to buy 3 varieties of coke to keep everyone happy, now DMIL has been raving about this elderflower presse stuff she likes, then we have the still water drinkers versus the sparkling water brigade (weirdos).

Am also trying to resist the twitch to edit the Ocado order, due on Christmas Eve. DH is in charge of food. I'll only go and add six more boxes of truffles or some more wine or something.

I am slightly twitchy about a couple of small presents still due to be delivered...

OddBoots · 19/12/2012 19:51

If your family are that fussy about drinks then Christmas needs to be a 'bring a bottle' if you host again.

PoppyWearer · 19/12/2012 19:54

OddBoots my DPs did at least give us Tesco vouchers to pay for theirs. PILs will bring one bottle of cheap'n'nasty red wine, then proceed to drink about 6 bottles of our nice stuff.

I don't care, I have purchased enough prosecco to anaesthetise me nicely for the entire 48 hour period.

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 19/12/2012 20:16

I'm twitching too, I really thought it was just me who was like this!
DH, I'm worrying lots of smaller presents aren't worthy enough.
I wouldn't even know what to get him tbh
I'm running out of presents to wrap, that we don't have enough food, nappies, wipes for the whole one day sainsburys isn't open.
Maybe I just need more sherry? Top up anyone?

TeamBacon · 19/12/2012 20:21

I want to buy more things!!! Argh!

awaywego1 · 19/12/2012 21:19

Pass the sherry this way prolific the asos sale is looking very tempting...

IAmTellingSanta · 19/12/2012 21:44

I was twitch-free till about an hour ago when my mum told me the turkey crown I've bought wont feed everyone. Even though we will have mountains of veg, sausages, gammon, roasties and 4 different puddings,
Should I buy drumsticks and do those JIC (just-in-case)

BTW she hasn't seen it, she's just pissed-off I'm not doing a whole turkey.
