I'm getting it-the awful twitch-have I bought the right thing for the right people or have I got it terrible wrong. Thinking maybe I should just buy some more tat stuff to make it feel better.
Trying to resist urge and just wrap and leave it there!
Anyone else twitching yet??

Having a slight twitch wrt fil...left his gift to dh (the onky one he had to get btw) and I am very underwhelmed with what he has got him :(
Bugger :(
Pretty sure everyone else will like theirs, but tbh after the week I have had I am past caring!....

Littlebearlost · 21/12/2012 18:58

I will. I think. Shall I? I want to go and get it RIGHT NOW. But argos is shut. I will now twitch all night.

Badvocsanta · 21/12/2012 19:00

"Reserving satisfies the twitch"
Genius
:)

Kirstoll · 21/12/2012 19:03

Reserve it! Then it's safe Xmas Smile IMO i would love a coffee machine, and if DH will too - then it is a well-deserved twitch!! wish my twitches were well thought out, then I wouldn't have so much cheese

Kirstoll · 21/12/2012 19:04

x post - took too long faffing! Xmas Grin

Littlebearlost · 21/12/2012 19:05

It is reserved. At two different locations.

MirandaWest · 21/12/2012 19:08

I'm wrapping tonight. Then I will know what the twitch wants me to buy, I know it wants me to get

Kendal mint cake (DP)
Photo frame (DD)
Pencil case (DS)

Something for XH ?? (Need twitchs help there)
Present for DDs best friend
Presents for two other friends of hers
Something for DS to give XH

And normal food for the next few days
And I have no Christmas alcohol Shock

Am ready to be twitched......

MirandaWest · 21/12/2012 19:10

I have bought other presents for DP, DD and DS by the way (suddenly thought it looked like DP was only getting Kendal Mint cake which tbh he would probably quite like Grin)

helpyourself · 21/12/2012 19:13

kristoll thank you so much! Handbag to take back is brilliant.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/12/2012 19:37

I'm starting the wrapping tonight too so I expect the twitch to be in full flow tomorrow when it decides my dcs will be deprived.

Kelly281 · 21/12/2012 19:40

I'm afraid I've been suffering with the twitch today too. Came home with a children's armchair and ended up in the disney store at lunchtime.

I'm now twitching thinking about the amaretto I saw in Aldi. I've never tasted Amaretto and very rarely drink, but I feel like I really must buy it.... Who celebrates christmas without a liqueur???

WhoPutTheDickOnTheSnowman · 21/12/2012 19:49

I resisted the twitch but got the delivery panic as the most important (small, weird but much lusted after) gift did not arrive and last guaranteed delivery date was hours away from being upon us.
I got in a tizz looking for Prime eligible sellers, with it in stock and that would get here - then the twitch kicked in.

I don't know exactly what happened but I'm looking at 6 fucking garlic presses.

I have 6 garlic crushers, 2 boxes of psychedelic salad kit, a lightsaber, 4 different boxes of chocolates and a...tool thing DH wanted that I previously thought was a bit expensive considering we weren't planning to buy for each other.

What the jeff am I going to do with that?! I don't even know 6 people that would want garlic crushers....or multifuckingcoloured salad.
Really wish I had seen this thread on Wednesday...I twitched so hard I twatted sigh.

redwellybluewelly · 21/12/2012 20:05

I twitched so hard I twatted

I cried laughing.

I am avoiding twitch by not yet starting on the wrapping, which I will regret as I may have gone a tad overboard. My twitch will come from buying DH one very expensive gift rather than several gifts.

Sigh.

JKSLtd · 21/12/2012 20:17

Oh yes I am twitching.
Have told DH I fancy wandering in town with the Christmas market on over the weekend not to shop oh no

Have I got enough for everyone? Dh's selection feels paltry especially. Have no idea what to add to it though. Have expensive whisky, new pjs (that he asked for) and some plasticine (he chose it months ago Xmas Hmm) to play with the DC. He had a massive Toblerone too but DS1 gave it to him when we did early Christmas with PIL. Maybe another Toblerone would satisfy the Twitch?

Guitargirl · 21/12/2012 20:24

I am chuckling away at this thread and I also remember the twitch thread from last year which was full of totally random purchases - although none as random as 6 garlic presses from what I remember!

I have avoided the twitch by just not going into any shops for the last 7 days or so, deleting any email which tried to tempt me in with the 'guaranteed delivery for Christmas, go on you know you want to spend your last 50 quid on some random crap' type message. And most importantly, NOT letting the DCs into any shops either. Previous years I have thought I was all done and all was well and then I made the mistake of taking DD into the Disney shop for a 'look around' the week before Christmas, which would then end in me having to get back there on the 23rd or something to buy whatever she had wistfully looked at...But I have overspent this year and am determined not to satisfy the twitch.

So, today, I took the DCs to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and spent £60 there instead with absolutely nothing to show for it! On the bus on the way home, sitting on top of the bus on Oxford Street so that the kids could see the lights on Oxford Street. DD spots the Disney shop and I cunningly distract her with a shedload of marshmallows. Say it with me - NO TWITCH!!

VivaLeBeaver · 21/12/2012 20:26

I've bought my dad a weather station and am having the twitch I got him one last year.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/12/2012 20:30

I twitched into Costco yesterday and bought a Kenwood K Mix mixer.
TBH I'd been eyeing up the Kenwood or a Kitchen Aid or a Bosch Mum mixer.

I want an ice-cube maker but I won't go down that road Grin

poppy283 · 21/12/2012 20:43

I'm twitching that there's a niece or nephew i'm forgetting.
We only have one of each.

.... or do we?

PoppyWearer · 21/12/2012 20:43

I have wrapped up a box of truffles I already had for MIL. Twitch conquered, for now.

Tomorrow I have to finalise my Ocado order. Now that's got Twitch-purchases written ALL over it!

Good luck everyone...

JKSLtd · 21/12/2012 20:43

Viva - can you check your MN posts for last year to see if you mentioned what you bought him?

I have the most ridiculous of twitches right now - to buy DD some girly pants in case she suddenly decides she wants to potty train Xmas Hmm She's 20 months old so it's theoretically possible but I have stacks of 'boyish' pants that would do the job perfectly well!
And I've been meaning to get DS1 new vests for a while, pass his down to DS2, then pus DS2's away for DD. Why am I feeling the need to get those new vests this very weekend?!

PoppyWearer · 21/12/2012 20:48

That didn't last long.

Am now twitching because it's DH's birthday on Christmas Eve, my present to him is a big one, an experience voucher, for both birthday and Christmas. Nothing for him to open on Christmas Day .

I also have the twitch about a last-minute present DD told me she wanted. But it's a biggie and DH and I have agreed we're not doing it.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/12/2012 20:48

Jks, it's too late as I've given him the present. I'm sticking my head in the sand!

JKSLtd · 21/12/2012 20:49

Well he could always set them up in different locations for comparison purposes Xmas Grin

WhoPutTheDickOnTheSnowman · 21/12/2012 21:10

Where does the twitch come from?

Poppywearer - I too have a DH with Dec birthday, he got a combined present that he opted to open on his birthday so no xmas gift. Except of course he has now as I crumbled.

DD's big gift though? Sounds like a huge and difficult twitch to get past - is it a 'domino' gift that will cause successive gift fallout for years to come?

PoppyWearer · 21/12/2012 21:15

DD is 4yo and said belatedly that she wanted a scooter. I started a thread about it last week and have stood firm (no scooter) until tonight!

There are safety considerations, we don't want her to have one, she will have to get over it. We might reconsider for her birthday in the summer if I don't twitch and buy one tomorrow.
