EllieSpoon good point...your site is gorgeous, by the way...I loved the 'cakes' made up if clothes - what a brilliant idea! :)

Usual susopects - Amazon, Play etc - they delivered fast. Tried Hawkins and they took ages. Tickseed were recommended elsewhere and they were fast (think they used Parcel Force?). Didn't have the security thingy mentioned earlier in this thread.

Bloody Hermes uk .

Odered 3 sets of chisels on the 22nd of November, do I have them? No.

Tracking number on their site says the number is invalid, emailed them to ask them what's happening, just to be told to talk to Amazon.

Email sent to Amazon (just dont it so no reply just yet), but I'm not happy.

I have a horrid feeling I'm not going to get them.

WhatWouldLeoDo · 09/12/2011 12:44

Just thought I'd add a complaint about Play who are usually very good, but when they get it wrong they are very poor! I ordered a copy of the Jolly Christmas Postman weeks and weeks ago when it was supposedly in stock. Now it's still 'awaiting stock', I've had no communication from them and they've ignored my messages. Of course, the book is impossible to get anywhere else now without paying a ridiculous price for it.

Try say no to 0870 - it lists (where available) alternative local rate numbers or freephone numbers if they have them. Proved invaluable to me when I spent three weeks chasing both yodel and currys for a television which failed to arrive - but that's another story. www.saynoto0870.com/

Well, just flew back into UK last night and checking now through my online orders:
So far, Debenhams- all present and correct, no probs
Thorntons, as many others have said, fast delivery, beautifully boxed, you open the box and half the stuff is bashed in. Email sent
Book People, half order missing, yet have been charged for it, (from Nov so not still on way) Email sent.

But the best: Littlest Pet Shop and Scooby Doo playsets from Sainsbos have been replaced by a Winnie the Pooh baby walker FFS! I mean, wtaf????

Also, my Mum, who is signer-of-parcels for me in my absence says one of the couriers keeps leaving things on the front doorstep. (ie where anyone walking past could nip in the gate and pinch them)

Nettee · 17/12/2011 16:53

Amazon have been spot on for me despite using yodel and Hermes etc.

Only big problem we have had is with John Lewis using uk mail.

Order sent in three parts - day one courier tries to deliver 2 of these but card left. I go on their web site and request delivery 2 days later for these two items which is confirmed on the website.

Day two - find out later that parcel three arrives at the warehouse and the driver suggests they put it With the other two

Day three - no parcel

Day 4 phone uk mail and they say I said I would collect the packages so I agree to do this

Day 6 or so drive miles and find the depot. Collect the two packages that I am aware of. Get home open them up find part of order missing. Phone John lewis. First guy says he is new and doesn't know so I should phone back. Second guy says it will arrive later today according to their tracking system. No package arrives

Day 7 phone John Lewis. Explain to helpful guy. He refunds me some money as a gesture but tells me I need to speak to uk mail. Gives me a number to tell them

Day 8. Phone uk mail with said number, they can't use it. helpful chap though. He did take my post code and say that all three parcels are awaiting collection at the depot. Eventually chap finds out which parcel they still have and arranges for it to be delivered on day 9.

Day 9 a different parcel arrives from uk mail in the morning. Long discussion about whole saga with driver who says he doesn't have the other one. Eary evening same driver arrives with parcel on the van after a long day delivering 130 parcels.

No apology at any stage from any one at uk mail. At least John Lewis admitted it was inconvenient and I got the package in the end.

Good experience recently with Cath Kidston. The postage to Asia is expensive though.

Also very pleased with buyforlessonline.co.uk, whose postage was extremely reasonable. They sent a lovely Downton Abbey jigsaw which I am looking forward to doing.

belledechocchipcookie · 19/12/2011 00:44

Amazon are efficient at the moment. Thorntons are not too bad, they could do with changing their delivery people though. They were very quick to reply when I moaned (and I never moan) and sent out a replacement chocolate right away (first one was broken).

Bucharest · 19/12/2011 17:16

Chocchip- ditto re Thorntons, quick reply, they have resent today, Book People, missing stuff now out of stock though so are recrediting me.

Argos could do with more substantial packaging, as boxes are in plastic bags so end up invariably crushed, but cheap, so hey ho.

elizabethchambell · 31/01/2012 06:31

yes off course there are, companies like www.shoppersstop.com/cat-Women-Womens-Apparel-Sarees-262-329042.html that have good Indian women clothing. Its quite difficult to get traditional stuff then my friend recommended the above site. Currently there is a 20% off going on sarees as I had recently purchased from online and I could save a bit
