Steer clear of thorntons. Have messed up the last 2x xmas orders and last years easter delivery. plus most of it arrived in plenty of time, but had use by dates BEFORE xmas/easter! wtf!

LikeAnAdventCandleButNotQuite · 04/12/2011 20:18

I ordered a Kelly Kettle, and the manager text to say I hadn't put my full address, could I text it to him, did it, and got the parcel the next morning.

Trooper!

Love Amazon delivery, and John Lewis. Thought M&S were OK till they left a box of items on my DMs doorstep randomly without ringing the bell (she was is). And she lives on a main road, no porch items not hidden anywhere :S

wannabestressfree · 04/12/2011 21:44

Asos are brilliant and I can't fault their customer service. I ordered a pair of uggs for dsd and parcelforce failed to put a card through the door and delivered them to one of the less salubrious of houses by me never to be seen again. When I complained they sent out another pair asap :}

malakadoush · 04/12/2011 22:31

GreenPeople.co.uk - brilliant fast delivery and great for my DD's skin.

Bodykind.com - supplements of every description - free delivery and cheap prices.

feelunique.com - brill for Lancome, Clarins etc again free fast delivery and really good prices.

ctshirts.co.uk - Charles Tyrwhitte of Jermyn St - really lovely quality mens shirts, very fast delivery too. They also deliver abroad for not too extortionate postage.

AncientsOfMuMu · 04/12/2011 22:47

Figleaves and Gorgeous shop, both excellent service, often free delivery and always prompt delivery.

Amazon. Great customer service, have always sorted out any problems with no hassle.

Finbar · 05/12/2011 09:38

I love Cafe Press - for funky and personalised t-shirts, mugs etc., you name it- they do it.
Really good for merchandise form TV series - especially US ones.

Good communication - well packaged- and when one item wasn't quite the right size they told me to keep it and sent me another without any hassle. Breath of fresh air.

I am planning to Order a Laptop to give to my son as a Christmas Gift. The site I passed when looking for a deal is www.latestchoice.com/. The Package deals are good there with Free Shipping.

Patsy99 · 05/12/2011 13:11

I've always found:-

Cox and Cox
Letterbox
John Lewis, and
M&S

to be completely reliable and efficient. I would never order with GLTC or Handpicked again. With GLTC I ordered Christmas gifts in November, they arrived in erm .... January! Everyone time I rang up to chase they said it was someone else's fault, just awful.

As for Handpicked I ordered stuff on-line 3 weeks ago. Delivery should have been in 3-5 working days and I'm still waiting.

StepAwayFromTheMincePies · 05/12/2011 13:14

again amazon have been good. Boots have twice delivered and left box of goodies on my doorstep, on a main walkway, no porch by a hospital and school. if I am in they are great though, deliver really quickly. Puma, I was trying to track down a specific pair of Puma suede shoes for DS2 no luck on google so I e-mailed Puma to see if they were still available, they e-mailed back next day to say a shop at Bicester shopping villiage should have them according to their inventory. Rang the shop YAY 2 pairs left and YAY had the correct size at half price, asked if they could post them out and yes they did, arrived 2 days later complete with handwritten note sayingg glad to have been able to help after my long search. loved them.

gettingagrip · 05/12/2011 13:25

www.tack-uk.com

Excellent personal customer service. Lots of bargains. Wink

janek · 05/12/2011 13:51

amazon v good of course, although use yodel round here. having said that amazon had consolidated 3 separate orders into one box (good work) and yodel man left delivery with a neighbour (i recognised him, but didn't know he lived at no 35...)

last year webtogs.co.uk were brilliant, delivered a pair of lovely snow boots, despite the snow, in really quick time, when nowhere else even had them in stock. yay.

i've also used cardshopdirect and 4allcards this christmas and they both delivered the next day. pretty amazing.

also last christmas, easylifedirect were rubbish, product was supposed to be in stock by a certain date, wasn't but no update to me or on website. i rang their 0871 no to be told they'd be in by a certain date. they weren't. no e-mail to say they'd been despatched. they went missing in the post (i e-mailed about it, but the e-mail was ignored), so i had to send a second e-mail following a phonecall. my dad's christmas present finally arrived at the end of january. they keep sending me catalogues. i've no idea why as there's no way i'd use them again...

wordfactory · 05/12/2011 13:55

White Company www.thewhitecompany.com faultless delivery and returns system and often have amazing sale items too for great Xmas and gift bargains.
Also just re-used M&S (who had sent me a shockingly badly packed parcel 3 years ago (all glass etc was shattered as there was no bubble wrap or any sort of padding - duh). This time around it was great service. All well-packed, Seems they actually listen to customers' rants then :)
Their furniture delivery is also top notch - god, the men actually mounted the stuff for me and even took away the wrapping to recycle!
Schuh www.schuh.co.uk are really helpful on the customer services front (refunded me some boots I had bought in wrong colour, to my PayPal, no quibbles, very easy to get through to them).

TODAY'S BARGAIN
Got some Merrell Oslo boots www.shop-outdoors.co.uk/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/182/s/merrell-oslo-waterproof/ online with 19% off for £26 less than in Schuh, free home delivery Grin

cantmummyhaveabreak · 05/12/2011 14:44

good:
Play.com
Amazon
Next

Bad-
Debenhams- once ordered in the sale, spent about £25 then p&p charges on top... because of sale items going out of stock after showing as 'in stock' when placing order I only got 1 out of 4 items, a pack of £3 undies that then cost £5 to have delivered- no phone-call to ask if I still wanted to place the order or anything- surely common sense says if 3 of 4 items are out of stock it's ideal to give a call?

startail · 05/12/2011 16:20

Ok we can stick Amazon back on the happy side of the board. OK they said Friday and today's Monday. But it here and complete long before I need to worry.

mammanetta · 05/12/2011 17:22

mrstimlovejoy · 05/12/2011 18:27

ReadingTeaLeaves · 06/12/2011 00:00

Any londoners complaining about Yodel might be interested to know that Sam Leith is today's E.standard also is complaining about a bad experience he had with Yodel and asking for people to write to him with other examples. Might be worth contacting him to pressure them into improving service?

mammanetta · 06/12/2011 10:05

thanks for that Tea will check it out Grin

TartyMcFarty · 06/12/2011 10:24

Will do! Have just cancelled my entire Gap order as the 1-2 business days delivery hadn't arrived a week later. Told them in no uncertain terms what I think of Yodel. Currently waiting on an Amazon delivery from them - problem is they seem to have a stranglehold.

mammanetta · 06/12/2011 13:12

Good for you Tarty :)

Spied Yodel courier man delivering to the house across the road earlier this morning (was being nosey and peering through shutters)...he rang bell (no answer) checked watch, fiddled around for a bit then looked over his shoulder and left parcel on front doorstep.
Ta-dah!
I went out after he had left and picked parcel up myself - will give it to neighbours when they get in later.
Nothing like seeing true crapness in action :)

mammanetta · 06/12/2011 13:14

update on Life Outdoors: I ordered a pair of Merrell boots yesterday morning - they arrived by lunchtime, I paid less than in Schuh AND the delivery was free - now that's what I call service.

EllieSpoon · 07/12/2011 09:13

Re courier companies and their varying service, I just spoke to someone at Yodel who said he just can't get vacancies filled for Drivers in his region (Kent / M25) so they are struggling to cope with workload.

It seems strange in these times when we are bombarded with high unemployment/ recession/ general bad economic news in the news everyday that there are also vacancies out there that can't be filled.
