Called back to consultant after DS brain MRI

hello, my DS aged 7 has been having nausea, sickness and headaches since November and through lots of pushing managed to get an MRI which was on Monday eve - we were told to expect results in 2 weeks. Today I received a phone call from the paediatric consultants secretary asking myself and hubby to go in tomorrow at noon. I’m terrified. Has anyone else got experience of this? What’s scared me most is that they have asked me to bring hubby. They have requested that we don’t bring DS. I don’t even know what I’m asking for on this thread, maybe someone that has been in a similar situation? Thanks x

Can only echo what others have said. Well done for pushing for the MRI, you obviously knew something wasn’t right. They have found what is causing it and can now treat him. There is a huge spectrum of things it could be and the waiting is going to be extremely difficult so be kind to yourself. If you can’t sleep resist the urge to google things. Recording the meeting is a good idea and getting a contact number for any questions you may have later. Thinking of you and your family.

Luckymummytoone · 22/06/2022 22:43

Will be thinking of you tomorrow ❤️

Spinfit · 22/06/2022 22:48

Doctor here - we call patients in if we find something (can be something benign or not). Good luck and well done on getting the scan done. I suggest you don't record the consultation without asking first as some clinicians do not like being recorded.

GettingItOutThere · 22/06/2022 22:50

good luck tomorrow OP, take a pen and paper and ask questions

xx

Wineat5isfine · 22/06/2022 22:51

SobranieCocktail · 22/06/2022 22:54

Lots of good wishes to you all. And as many others have said, well done for pushing for investigations.

Biophilia123 · 22/06/2022 22:57

I have heard of stories like this. I think it is protocol, irrespective. Can you imagine if they told you to come but not to bother with your husband...(trying to make things lighter for a sec). Good luck, we are all now thinking of you. X

comfortablyfrumpy · 22/06/2022 22:58

I have no advice to offer, but just want to wish you well for tomorrow. Waiting must be horrendous.Flowers

Riseabove · 22/06/2022 22:59

I hope you manage to get some rest tonight. I’m certain the doctors will get the ball rolling quickly so that your son can begin to feel much better x

QuandaleDingle · 22/06/2022 23:02

Thinking of you op and sending a hand hold x

RedCardigan · 22/06/2022 23:04

Good luck tomorrow.
don’t worry about recording things or writing down if you don’t feel like it when you’re there, if there is something to tell you you will be be given plenty of opportunity to ask questions or follow up.

LightSpeeds · 22/06/2022 23:05

Thinking of you all x

DancerOnIce · 22/06/2022 23:08

Best of luck for tomorrow.
My daughter had an MRI and the results were very different from what we were expecting, and unfortunately it wasn’t good news. This of course is only my experience, and what our local hospital did, but they were looking at the MRI as it was being done, could see the results weren’t good, and didn’t let us go home. A consultant came to speak to me and we had to stay in hospital while they looked into the MRI in more detail and formulated a plan.
So I’m hoping that your hospital would’ve done the same, and that if it was something really bad he wouldn’t have been sent home on the day.

Lexi334 · 22/06/2022 23:16

There’s been so much lovely advice on this thread OP - in particular @DancyNancy post. I really don’t have any advice to add but I couldn’t just read and run.
I can’t even imagine how worrying this all is for you and your family. I hope that tomorrow brings you answers and that whatever is going on, your son is on the mend soon ❤️
And well done for pushing so hard for the tests ❤️ It’s so easy to back down when doctors etc don’t think something is necessary but at the end of the day - nobody knows your child the way you do! We’ll all be thinking of you tomorrow!

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 22/06/2022 23:17

I can't even imagine how nervous you are for the appointment tomorrow, I just wanted to send you lots of love and luck ❤️

QuebecBagnet · 22/06/2022 23:20

Thinking of you. Even if it’s not good news at least you pushed for an mri so hopefully have caught anything early. There’s so much which can be done now. And the news might not be bad, so they might have found something but it not be worst case scenario?

Thegroaninggurner · 22/06/2022 23:21

Hi op hope everything goes well for you tomorow

Basilbrushgotfat · 22/06/2022 23:22

Good luck op, thinking of you x

Ollyanddahlia · 22/06/2022 23:33

Another handhold from me. I wish you all the luck in the world for tomorrow ❤
