Called back to consultant after DS brain MRI

hello, my DS aged 7 has been having nausea, sickness and headaches since November and through lots of pushing managed to get an MRI which was on Monday eve - we were told to expect results in 2 weeks. Today I received a phone call from the paediatric consultants secretary asking myself and hubby to go in tomorrow at noon. I’m terrified. Has anyone else got experience of this? What’s scared me most is that they have asked me to bring hubby. They have requested that we don’t bring DS. I don’t even know what I’m asking for on this thread, maybe someone that has been in a similar situation? Thanks x

Good luck for today. Hope you managed to get some sleep last night, and that things will go well. xx

In those very stressful situations it can be incredibly hard to take it in the information and then as soon as you leave, the mind goes almost blank. It's in emotional overload.

I strongly recommend you take a notebook and pen and WRITE DOWN what the DR tells you. Dr's are well used to this and will happily repeat something . Take your time. When asked "have you any questions? " the mind will often similarly go blank; so if you have questions to take, write those down today.

Give yourselves leeway in your plan for tomorrow . Make sure whoever is doing the childcare for you, can keep them a little longer than expected.

All thoughts with you.

Ask the drs if you can record the conversation on your phone, so you have the info for later.

Thinking of you today and holding hope that any issue is resolvable - soon and easily....I am thinking that - yes- something of note has been seen - and that the Specialist wants to explain that either it is minor but needs to be kept under observation - or that he/she wishes to have more detail regards symptoms and recent health and development. I really wish you well and send virtual kind, loving wishes..

Really hoping things went well. I’ve seen interesting comments on other forums and the usually belief is that if it was something super, super critical they would tell you immediately / within a few hours.

hopefully you have answers as to why your DS has been poorly and hopefully they can get him on the mend now x
