We just finished Henrietta's House by Elisabeth Goudge - lovely book, but aimed at a bit older than I had realised when I skimmed it in the shop DD seemed to enjoy it though, despite the rather old fashioned language. I kind of miss the old days of Kipper & the Gruffalo though .. .

BCNSback · 15/09/2009 20:38

darren shan .. Lord of the shadows to ds2

and little miss chatterbox to DD ( when for an extra treat I called the speaking clock for her )

HumphreyCobbler · 15/09/2009 20:39

Tremendous bloody Tractors

Takver · 15/09/2009 20:40

OK, some advantages to an older DC, Humphrey, at least they only want the book once

Hulababy · 15/09/2009 20:40

Read Mrs Pepperpot to 7y DD. Shhe can read it to herself but still enjoys being read to in an evening; long may it last

AitchwonderswhoFruitCrumbleis · 15/09/2009 20:42

some shite about fairies.

Othersideofthechannel · 15/09/2009 20:44

The Tale of Despereaux - am enjoying it, the chapters are pleasingly short after Narnia!

mollyroger · 15/09/2009 20:44

Capatin Underpants - the one about Professor Pee-Pee Poopypants with ds2 laughing like a drain. he's dead sophisticated

Jess5 · 15/09/2009 20:44

2 Charlie and Lola ones - the library book one and the party one. Quite like them, they don't quite have the charm of the TV series though.

Have been there with Tremendous Tractors, etc - that on in particular is SOOO boring! And Roaring Rockets one has the crappest rhyme ever in it.

Pennies · 15/09/2009 20:45

The Magic Faraway Tree - tonight they were in the Land of Birthdays.

smugmumofboys · 15/09/2009 20:45

DS1 - another chapter of first Harry Potter. He could just about read it himself, but I don't push it as I enjoy spendind 1-1 time with him.

DS2 - another chapter of the Magic Faraway Tree. He's really enjoying it.

colditz · 15/09/2009 20:46

Tickly Sheep.

It's dire, but much loved

littlerach · 15/09/2009 20:46

Milly Molly Mandy makes a Garden to dd2 (5)

Dd1 didn't want o be read to so read on her own - Chalet School.

oopsacoconut · 15/09/2009 20:47

Dear bloody Zoo

gemmiegoatlegs · 15/09/2009 20:47

2 mister Men stories read to both kids. I don't know why they like them they are such non-events to me. Usually dd has a Mog story or The Tiger Who came To Tea. DS is 6 now and likes chapter stories so we have been reading Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I must admit that the MR Men gets them to bed a lot quicker

Pennies · 15/09/2009 20:48

smugmumOB - where were you in the Faraway Tree tonight?

PacificDogwood · 15/09/2009 20:49

Little Red Riding Hood
Mr Big - v good

Aranea · 15/09/2009 20:49

Teddy Robinson. I love it.

blithedance · 15/09/2009 20:50

They read to me tonight. Fireman Sam's ABC; "On your Potty", two school reading books one deadly boring about shapes and one quite funny one "Bob Bug".

Takver · 15/09/2009 20:50

Didn't know Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a book too - is it good? DD loves the film (me too come to that)

feedthegoat · 15/09/2009 20:51

Beware of the bears and The tickle book.

I normally argue that The tickle book is not a bedtime one as ds has a tendancy to get giddy at the end but it's his first day at nursery school tomorrow and I didn't want an arguement to delay bedtime!

annabelcaramel · 15/09/2009 20:52

The Riot Act

Doobydoo · 15/09/2009 20:52

The Tiger Who came to Tea
Kipper
Shirley Hughes Colours.

I loved Milly Molly Mandy and the Chalet School and The Magic Faraway Tree

misspollysdolly · 15/09/2009 20:53

The Gruffalo to DS2 (20 months)

Just finished reading James and the Giant Peach to DS1 (4.2 years)
