We just finished Henrietta's House by Elisabeth Goudge - lovely book, but aimed at a bit older than I had realised when I skimmed it in the shop DD seemed to enjoy it though, despite the rather old fashioned language. I kind of miss the old days of Kipper & the Gruffalo though .. .

dd is 9 - one of the Malory Towers books (upper 4th?).

Finding it is really grating on me how there is nothing good about Gwendoline at all in these books. Nothing. I feel like making up something nice about her because I can't bear having to read all the time how everything she says or does is bad or if it's half-way good there is a selfish underlying reason.

Starting to think Enid Blyton had someone from RL in mind when she wrote about Gwendoline. Someone she hated very much. Dd is enjoying the books though

I read to the dd's

DD1 - a chapter of Mr Stink.

DD2- We finished fantastic Mr Fox.

DD3- Chapter of Destiny the pop star fairy .

DD4/5 - The Gruffalo again.

OMG reading 4 different things every night puts me to shame.

I'm impressed that with 6 children you find the energy/time to read from 4 different stories, Comewhinewithme!

I don't manage it every night but atm during the evening I am stuck to the sofa bf dd5 so I use that time to read to the dc.

I do love reading though and want to pass it on to them I do have a slight problem with buying books too we have way too many and they are the only thing I won't throw/give away .
