Employers of nannies ...

After my absolutely disasterous experience of hiring a nanny, I'm thinking of setting up an email-based support group for employers of nannies. Would anyone be interested in joining?

*the words "employer" and "nanny" should be interpreted broadly.

What jura said. I have also had a nightmare recruitment process (although have lovely nanny starting next week ) but found this section very supportive and helpful during the whole caboodle.

AtheneNoctua · 08/05/2008 16:32

Oh oh... I'm in. please please please.

Can we have regular meet-ups?

VirginiaWoolfisNotDead · 08/05/2008 16:34

mmmm yes namechanger actually. I think you're probably aware of my disaster

I think an email group might offer me something that this board couldn't. But maybe that's just my problem...

Oh dear.

I don't think that post was very supportive.

nannynick · 08/05/2008 19:03

I think such a group would be very helpful to many employers of domestic staff.
However I would not like you all to stop posting here, as the questions you ask, the discussions we have, are so useful to both employers and nannies.
Nannies also could benefit from a similar group, for asking others for a view without it being public knowledge.

slag off sorry not got to grips with the crossing out function!

Whooosh · 08/05/2008 22:54

oooh-back in the knife cupboard Mrs.Sharp....

Kind of like the idea but am with Nick on this,it may lead to those not "in the group" not benefitting from general postings on here.

soapbox · 08/05/2008 22:59

Me too - although my new nanny is fabulous

AtheneNoctua · 09/05/2008 07:37

There is nothing wrong with seeking advice in a closed forum from others who might have experience and and advice from which one might benefit.

Employers sometimes need to do a bit of homework and work out what is reasonable before they engage in communication with the nanny.

VirginiaWoolfisNotDead · 09/05/2008 09:51

OK I've CATed jura, flowerybeanbag and soapbox. Let me know if you don't receive it. If anyone else is interested, please CAT me.

Mummypoppins - you've opted out of being contacted - let me know how to contact you. Can you CAT me maybe?

Nick - I take your point, but it is difficult when people have little respect for one's anonymity and privacy. I really need advice and support, and I don't want to be subjected to a personal attack every time I post someting here.

And what is your real posting name, Daisy?

Daisysmiles · 09/05/2008 11:03

Athene..Daisy has been my regular posting name for a while now...Im not a habitual name changer.

Like its not obvious who I used to be.... After last month I decided using your real name as your screen name was not such a great idea...

AtheneNoctua · 09/05/2008 11:14

Just find it a tad ironical that she who ousts other name changers changes her own name.

You were not exactly innocent in your friend's downfall. I think it is you who needs to learn from her mistakes. If you would have left it alone there would have been a lot less harm done.

AtheneNoctua · 09/05/2008 11:47

I'm weird? Now there's a shocking revelation. Not sure however what it has to do with this thread.

Daisysmiles · 09/05/2008 11:47

Can't believe you managed to get me deleted...LMAO..friends in high places have we

MrsRecycle · 09/05/2008 11:52
