Anyone’s children recently been accepted for the social communication pathway how long did it take from referral for acceptance my little boy is suspected ASD I emailed SCP again this week but it’s still with the triage team & im just wondering on a rough time scale thanks in advance x

My daughter was 13 months from referral to diagnosis. Son was referred in October and told it is still a 12 month wait so will probs be the same. But both were referred before 2 years old so the wait has been beneficial in giving them a chance to show any development before a diagnosis.

Emma2345 · 29/02/2024 00:07

@Shaf89 ok Thankyou and no I just meant to be accepted on to the pathway coz they usually triage your referral and then write to you telling you weather the child Has been accepted or not and. Then I no it’s about 1-2 years wait for a giagnosis

Oh…. Both of mine was about 3/4 months from HV referral and then SCT confirming that they have been added to the waiting list to be seen and informing of the 12 month waiting time

Unrelated, but how long did your children take to potty train and what did you do to help? My son just turned 3, and I am clueless on how to potty train him. He has suspected ASD and also has speech delay. He is currently non verbal.

My son is on the ASD pathway... I knew I needed him potty trained for nursery so we tried the 3 day thing where you stay home (as much as possible) for the 3 days, child wore nothing (for easy access to potty) and I just kept it (potty) in the sitting room, every so often he would just go & have a sit on it... then he started going on it for wees, he was very nervous about doing a number 2 on there but we persevered for the next couple of days and honestly he just started going on his own. Not gonna lie, I think he must of been ready in some sense but just keep trying, just make sure the potty is accessible to your child and keep asking if they need to go. Hope all goes well x

1 month using a potty lid on the normal toilet and week on week it for easier for him to comfortably use the toilet at home and school .
2-3 months for him to use all public toilets , peoples houses etc as these tend to be bigger and as I don't take the potty with me everywhere I go so he feels like he is going to fall in . But if you were to take the pottylid with you , I imagine it would be faster .

If your child is non verbal , continue to model the language like "toilet , wee , poop , bathroom " for him/her consistently and they will start to associate the word with the act and feeling .
Good luck , don't give up .

We’ve been awarded!
£1576.30 in my bank account, I’ve worked out for 23x weeks and £10 bonus for Christmas and get the middle rate I think!
I called for the forms on the 19th September and scanned on the 30/10, 2 letters and one text dated 5/2. I was sure we wouldn’t get it, as I had seen lots of other dates after me.

Cookieam · 29/02/2024 07:17

I only got awarded yesterday scan date 27/10

MrsW12 · 29/02/2024 07:23

Gemmaoscar · 29/02/2024 08:17

The end is getting closer now surely it’s been the longest wait ever

Siobhan1090 · 29/02/2024 08:25

Morning.. been watching this for a while now
scan date 25/10
outcome 27/2
was previously awarded MRC in 2016
put in a change of circumstances as now she’s 13 and is significantly different to any another 13 year old so was expecting HRC LRM
they came back to me with MRC LRM.. I could have cried!!! I’m absolutely gutted! Sent in so much evidence and took me hours to do the forms. Obviously put in a MR yesterday and spent another 2 hours on the phone.. felt like I was repeating myself a lot which is kind of frustrating. So my question is do I now have to wait until a decision has been made about the care side until I get the backpay from the mobility side..? Thank you :)

Emma2345 · 29/02/2024 08:28

Congratulations to everyone awarded today

Congratulations to everyone award this morning

Kyarcy1316 · 29/02/2024 09:16

Just got off the phone 16 weeks today. Not with a dm yet but he said that they are say 18 weeks for a decision so it could go any day now. Also lucky it hasn't gone yet as my daughter got referred to complex communication team I found out yesterday and he wouldn't have been able to add that if it was with a dm.

Emma2345 · 29/02/2024 09:18
