@jess12345678 yes I was awarded for a year applied march last year awarded July for 12 months renewal forms came September - October so literally only 3-4 months after I was awarded and had to fill all in again it’s all so stressful I’ve sent forms back end of October still waiting to hear on outcome my award ends march 12 xx

Bearintheredhat · 05/02/2024 18:55

Is there anyone that can advise me on carers allowance?

I have a zero hours contract and work all the hours offered to me - mostly this is one day a week at NMW. So I earn under the £136 limit to claim.
This works for our family as it’s usually a Saturday when my dh isn’t working. Obvs with a high needs 4yr old childcare is impossible to find, we have no family, so I need to work around when dh is free.

But some weeks I may be offered two days, and some weeks no days.

How do I claim for the weeks I qualify and opt out for the weeks I don’t?
Or is it worked out monthly? Because then it would even out iyswim.

I don’t want to claim anything I’m not supposed to? I want to take all the hours offered because it will eventually lead to better employment for me and a better life for us all.

Emma2345 · 05/02/2024 19:06

Jesslou37 · 05/02/2024 19:24

@Amycroft I didn't have anything like that on mine all that I was asked was does my daughter need a spare room for a carer and does she need her own room. What rates did you get?x

Amycroft · 05/02/2024 19:45

Gracie1909 · 05/02/2024 19:46

Gracie1909 · 05/02/2024 19:47

I wrote again today and still no reply and I even rang, they told me to just wait until they see the message. Which is annoying x

Amycroft · 05/02/2024 19:48

Gracie1909 · 05/02/2024 19:52

Hopefully tomorrow thats what I'm praying for that they are both on my statement and then it's a case of wait for backpay, but I will let u no in the morning xx

Anyone else getting more and more paranoid of a decline the closer it comes to your scan date 🤣🤣 mines 10th Oct and I feel like climbing the walls haha! I've seen people with dates after me get awarded and people from September still waiting so I know it makes no difference... Just doesn't help knowing that though haha!

Yes I'm feeling the same thought I'd feel more calm as my date approaches but just getting more agitated! X

Nataliepb90 · 05/02/2024 21:23

It really does drive you up the wall! Sitting here wondering what evidence I can get in support of an MR already and I've not even had a decision 🤣🤣 they sure know what they're doing to up the stress levels!

Thenoseymother · 05/02/2024 21:35

Does anyone know once you get the letter on UC journal from DM to say they’ve accepted your reasons for informing them of a change that they then sort the back pay? I’ve heard nothing since. Thanks!

I hear you loud and clear and sitting in the same boat as you 😂

Sallyt7110 · 05/02/2024 21:40

@Bearintheredhat if you get paid weekly they will pay you carers for each week you earn less than £136. So the weeks you do two days you will get zero carers.
if you get paid monthly then you need to earn less than £136x4 and if you are even a penny over then you’ll get none for the month.

Jesslou37 · 05/02/2024 21:51

@Thenoseymother I've only just had my decision put on my journal so hoping it's not much longer. I seen someone say on a different thread that once that decision was made the previous payment section all changed. Mine still showing as the same payments x
