DLA Wait Times - Part 28
kaysash86 · 03/02/2024 19:49

Ok I will call them on Monday. Thank you!

K459 · 03/02/2024 20:01

@Amycroft okay. I was asked on the journal to confirm if I cared for my child for more than 35 hours a week and then they got back to me saying I would be backdated and that all the payment statements would be updated. They confirmed the amount and what day it will be paid on.
I think I was just lucky with a response as it can be up to a days wait for them to respond usually. Maybe your work coach is away? I’m not really sure how it all works.

Amycroft · 03/02/2024 20:12

@K459 yeah I have a feeling it's that as I havnt had a reply about other things for months now! I will ring Monday or add another note

I have a question. I applied for DLA for my daughter suspected ASD, developmental delay and epilepsy. I send evidence including EHCP. However I am not sure I explained her day to day needs in great detail. How likely is it that I am awarded. Also I got official diagnosis of autism through a telephone appointment with pediatrician . I will get written report through the post in 2?weeks. Should I call and tell them this or wait until I get the written report to send them a copy? Scan date 8th of November.

Send it in when you get it as extra evidence x

Hi everyone, new here.

Looks like you have all been waiting a long while. I only just sent forms back this week, requested on the 11th Jan. When realistically do you think I'm looking at a response.

Also what does scan date mean?

Thank you

Edited

20 weeks from when you get letter saying we received your forms on such a date that date is your scan date although if you returned the forms back within 6 weeks which you have they’ll back date to Jan 11

Summerrp · 03/02/2024 20:48

Thank you so much that makes sense. Going to be a long 20 weeks 😒 but good to know they'll backdate

K459 · 03/02/2024 23:37

@Amycroft yeah I’d give them a call Monday and hopefully they can sort it out straight away.

Nervously waiting, scan date 9/10! First time applying.

My little boy is 3 almost 4 and just wondering does anyone know if there’s a typical time frame that they award for?, I’ve seen some people as short as 6m to a year and then some for years and years? Do they award for shorter periods to begin with etc?

He has suspected ASD and ADHD but not yet diagnosed I’m not expecting his care needs to drastically change much in the next year or so, but would be interesting to know if he is awarded for how long that will likely be for.

Thank you and good luck to you all!!!

My son always got short two year awards for the first couple of times then got awarded until he switched over to pip .
Very frustrating having to keep filling in forms!

4/10 with a dm friday so ringing Wednesday hoping for a positive decision to of been made or. Negative to get the ball rolling for a MR will settle for any news right now Week 18 this week 🙏 #notlongnow

Gracie1909 · 04/02/2024 13:46

Is DLA paid in arrears or for the four weeks in front?x

Emma2345 · 04/02/2024 14:33

@WEEKNDBBY I’m not sure think it varies from person and depending on what disabilities or difficulties my little boy was awarded in July last year for a claim in march and we was only awarded for 1 year so runs out this march I’ve applied again so when I find out if awarded again I will let you no exactly how long this time I thought a 1 year award was a really short time as by September October they sent the forms to reapply again ,,, some people get at least 2-3 years but again my son wasn’t even 1 until June we applied around 9 months old so I suppose it’s based on what reasons you apply and weather their is possibility of growing out of said problems (he was awarded for breathing problems but we didn’t have a diagnoses then and now we have a potential diagnosis of severe asthma)

Claudb98 · 04/02/2024 15:39

@WEEKNDBBY not sure how it works but my daughter was 1 last year and was awarded until 2028! I’m currently awaiting a Change of circumstance decision as her needs have already increased in a year .

Emma2345 · 04/02/2024 16:59

Does anyone no what dates they are currently working on im waiting for a renewal due to end in march and also a new claim for my other son applied in November ?

Holllymum · 04/02/2024 17:05

K459 · 04/02/2024 19:16

@Siobhangrace 3-5 working days.

Bsmumummaj · 04/02/2024 19:27

Been 2 weeks since I asked uc to send to dm for backdate but still nothing! Would they do it faster if I rang them?

Themrseds · 04/02/2024 20:02

Our scan date was 15/09. Wondering if ours is the same dm 🤔

Livd99 · 04/02/2024 20:28

I’ve applied for carers and disability element for my son on my uc will this reduce any of my other payments such as dla etc

Emma2345 · 04/02/2024 20:59

@Livd99 no this shouldn’t affect your money for carers and child disability element thru UC however if you apply for the other carers not threw universal credit they deduct it from uc x
