I’ve applied for carers and disability element for my son on my uc will this reduce any of my other payments such as dla etc

Edited

No the only thing that is deducted pound for pound is carers allowance. Carers element and disabled child premium is paid by UC

Livd99 · 04/02/2024 22:54

@Mrssnee16 ok thank you should I just keep my carers on uc and not apply for carers allowance as doesn’t seem much point in it just confused about what I’m eligible for as it looks like ive been awarded high rate by the payment ive recieved but had no letter will need to ring up tomorrow

If you work but don't earn over £135 a week then you can apply, or if you don't work it will keep the job centre off your back as the fact your a paid carer it technically in their eyes becomes your job, it will prevent them from making you go to see job coaches and apply for jobs so it's worth having.

Summerrp · 05/02/2024 05:41

Mrssnee16 is that the carers element or the carers allowance that will keep them off back ?

Gracie1909 · 05/02/2024 07:11

@Summerrp the carers allowance I think it is as it's classed as a job technically. I got awarded on Wednesday and still no payment, are payments only normally made on Tuesdays or Wednesdays? X

EEFO1234 · 05/02/2024 08:13

Still no payment awarded on Thursday does anyone know when I should expect payment?

Livd99 · 05/02/2024 08:14

@Gracie1909

ive got mine today as im with monzo it’s been pending since Friday so I take it it’s Tuesdays

Gracie1909 · 05/02/2024 08:29

Thanks. they did tell me my next payment after this one is Tuesday 5th march, so hopefully tomorrow being a Tuesday it should arrive as febs payment. But if it hasn't come by tomorrow I will have to ring up x

Gracie1909 · 05/02/2024 08:30

I'm with NatWest so very annoying as can't see pending x

Carers allowance lovely

Summerrp · 05/02/2024 08:34

Ah ok thank you, I wasn't going to bother with the Carers allowance because they take pound for pound but I literally am unable to work in the situation I'm in at the moment, I've had to leave my job of 12 years to care for my child

Mrssnee16 · 05/02/2024 08:46

SearchUniversal Credit (UC) - What activities will I have to do when claiming Universal Credit?

If you are providing 35 or more hours per week of care for someone who gets the daily living component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the daily living component of Adult Disability Payment, the middle or high rate care component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), the middle or high care rate of Child Disability Payment, Attendance Allowance or Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP), you will be placed in the ‘no work-related requirements’ group. You won’t be expected to do any activities through the jobcentre and you won’t have a work coach. You won’t be expected to look for work. This applies even if you are working too much to be able to claim Carer’s Allowance or Carer Support Payment (Scotland).

Literally just copy and pasted this from the turn2us website in case anyone is worried/interested in the benefits of carers allowance.

Livd99 · 05/02/2024 08:59

Has anyone rang uc up to confirm the backpay etc gunna give them a try

Gracie1909 · 05/02/2024 09:02

@Livd99 I've heard nothing back off my UC journal so if you get any luck ringing them can you let me no please x

Jneill2021 · 05/02/2024 09:05

@EEFO1234 i would say tomorrow my boy was awarded Wednesday had payment today x

Summerrp · 05/02/2024 09:10

Thank you very much Mrssnee16. My child is due to turn 3 soon and I feel they will be on case well before the DLA is back. Do you know if there is anything I can do in the meantime regarding the work related activities. Even a meeting would be very hard to attend, my sons sensory processing difficulties mean even a phone call can trigger him at the moment let alone dragging him into the environment of a job centre.

Livd99 · 05/02/2024 09:16
