Good afternoon,

I hope you don't mind me joining the group. I have a ds who is 4 years old an is waiting for an autism diagnosis. Weve had the initial assessment at the cdc and the consultant has put him on the autism assessment waiting list. I'm currently filling out the form for him as he need lots of extra support especially at home and when out. He masks quite well at preschool. I was just wondering what evidence is good to send in as I don't have a lot and I'm still waiting for the assessment report to be sent to me. Can I send the dla form in qnd then send extra evidence at a later date when I receive it?

Thank you x

Hello. Yes you can send the form first and send extra evidence after. I found the Cerebra Guide very useful when filling out the form for my child with ASD. Hope this helps and good luck x

Got through but the system is down…I’ve been promised a call back in 10 minutes…

You’re very welcome. Another piece of advise is don’t do it all in one go, go back over it with fresh eyes. Keep a sleep diary for a week, this can be sent as evidence. The someone who knows me page doesn’t have to be filled out by a professional. If your child masks at nursery maybe a neighbour or relative could fill it out. Also when it is ready to send take a copy of every single page. Not only if it gets lost in the post but also when it comes to renewal. If you can send it special delivery it will get scanned onto their system quicker too. Good luck xx

@Keddie @Jneill2021 keeping my fingers crossed for you both x

Hiya. Maybe a long shot... I've just received my second text telling me my claim is still being processed etc and not to do anything. This is week 17.
I don't suppose anybody on here has had that then has a time from they then got a decision by any chance? I know everyone is different and every claim is individual but, just helps me I suppose.
Thank you and good luck to everyone waiting to hear!

Just got through I'm 28/09 lovely man said I can tell you it's now been given to a cm could take up to 2 weeks but could be anytime now

Journeytosober · 29/01/2024 14:10

So….my child seems to have a reference number that blocks the call centre from seeing it. However, there’s a note on the system a few weeks ago saying award is likely. (Whatever that means!) and the line manager will call me back to give me an update of what the hold up is.

Hopefully you get a decision soon! I'm the same date and I'm so nervous now I feel sick 😫

@Journeytosober Does your reference start with CL?

Amycroft · 29/01/2024 14:15

@FlutterByASD is yours with DM too? I'm really hoping I get a text anytime!!!

Mrssnee16 · 29/01/2024 14:17

Anyone checking their bank every 5 mins. I've never known anxiety like it. I've probably still got a long wait ahead as I'm only 14 weeks on Wednesday but I'm still hopeful dla will get through the claims faster for us

They told me last Wednesday it was on its way over and if I don't have a message or letter by the 7th to ring back, which confused me as that's one day before 19 weeks and the wait is 20? Hopefully we find out either way soon!

I think I must be the last of the August dates still waiting - 22 weeks or something like that.

Surprised my bank account hasn’t flagged unusual activity for me logging in every 10 minutes.

Journeytosober · 29/01/2024 14:22

DivGirl · 29/01/2024 14:13

@Journeytosober Does your reference start with CL?

Yes - to be honest I’m not sure why it’s not the right reference number. When I phoned two weeks ago there was no issue with bringing up details. I think they just make it up as they go along ! Also makes no sense as to why there’s a note saying likely to be awarded - why don’t they just award then ?!?

DivGirl · 29/01/2024 14:27

@Journeytosober My understanding is that those (including mine) are clerical claims - they’re not held on the same system (usually to do with the child not having a national insurance number). They look at them and decide if they’re likely to award, and if they are they’ll apply for a NI number to be allocated to your child. Once that’s come back they assess it properly and say what rate etc.

They seem to take longer. I’ve been waiting since 30 Aug.

Journeytosober · 29/01/2024 14:32

@DivGirl that makes sense. I can’t claim for CB that’s why there’s no NI number. But it’s useful if they can explain that ! So looks like we will be waiting a bit longer then….annoying !

Geegee1506 · 29/01/2024 14:48

Can anyone help me please??? I've had a letter on my UC journal from a DM agreeing to my changes? How long does this mean until the back pay?

AprilRain02 · 29/01/2024 14:52

I have the same scan date and got a text at 12:00 today as well.. fingers crossed 🤞
