Thank you @DaylaD
My letter was the same day as your text x

Loumumoftwo · 04/01/2024 14:11

@logangracie93 on your universal credit account home page click ‘report a change’ then ‘people who live with me’ complete the questions and put in the date the dla was awarded from.
For the carers element go back to your home page click ‘report a change’ again then select ‘caring for someone’ complete questions again and date dla was awarded from. after you’ve done both of those go to your journal and add a note under the ‘payment’ section and say your son/daughter has now been awarded dla and can the disabled child element and carers element be backdated. Then just wait for them to come back to you to say it’s been approved (mine took 8 days in total).
hope this helps!
just to add carers element is different to carers allowance and it doesn’t matter whether or not you work xx

logangracie93 · 04/01/2024 14:21

@mumto3withasd scan date buddy ! X

Toni1228 · 04/01/2024 15:02

Scan date 12/09 toke the plunge and rang just spoke to a lovely man, not gone anywhere yet but he did say they on the back end of august. Generally not going to DM/CM till hits 18 weeks but some do slip throw and then they give 2 weeks for them to make a decision hence the 20week thing but the odd occasion can take longer if they need to ring schools doctors etc. the wait is forever but hope this helps anyone that the end is getting near x

Hi all, I have applied for dla for my son for the 1st time. I sent the forms off late October so I don't expect to hear anything until Feb/Mar time. I believe my son would qualify for MRC and LRM. However, as I understand it LRM can only be awarded to children who are 5+. My son turns 5 in April. I just wondered if anyone knows, will he be rejected for LRM based on this or will they take into account that he will be turning 5 within a few weeks of the decision being made. I highly doubt he would qualify for hrm but does have a lot of mobility issues. Thank you x

mumto3withasd · 04/01/2024 15:22

have you received letters and texts yet ive had a letter 7/11 saying they have the claim, then 15/11 saying sorry for it taking so long and then my text was 5/12, i spoke to my daughters school and doctors and they havent rang anyone so im thinking it isnt with anyone yet.

RachelWa · 04/01/2024 15:28

Currently on hold.. 1 hour down 🤦🏼‍♀️

RaychieBee · 04/01/2024 15:29

@mumto3withasd theyre still doing August dates with a few September dates slipping through. Been told another 3/4 weeks and I'm on week 19+4. Scan date 21/08

mumtumok · 04/01/2024 15:32

@mumto3withasd I’ve had 2 letter & 2 texts last text dated 5/12 x

mumto3withasd · 04/01/2024 15:34

that's so bad, they need to be doing them as close to order as possible and maybe if there is to much influx stop new claims for a month or 2 until they've caught up, im waiting for this claim so i can put my youngest daughters forms in because she asd and mute but she was diagnosed last year too and i just dont think i could cope with both at the same time. the anxiety is shocking. hoping you get your response soon.

Willowblake · 04/01/2024 15:35

I've given in and currently on hold...scan date 1/8...Will update if I'm told anything useful 🙂

Keddie · 04/01/2024 15:36

Hi, I’m not 100% sure. They might ask you to reapply for the mobility part when he turns 5. Or because it’s so close they might award you from when he turns 5. I would just ring them and make sure.

When I applied for my DS first time in 2017, he was only 4 so didn’t qualify for mobility. At the time I didn’t realise I could apply for the mobility once he turned 5 the following year. It was only when I did his renewal in 2022 that I realised 🤦🏼‍♀️. So potentially he missed out on quite a bit of money. Thankfully he was awarded both care and mobility when I renewed his claim.

So if they don’t award your Ds the mobility part, definitely apply when he turns 5! Don’t do what I did lol. It’s a pain having to reapply though I know. Hopefully they will award him the mobility from April and use your current application.
