Ivakhunt · 06/12/2023 23:03

I’ve been told I have to wait another 16 weeks for a decision on renewal. My son’s dla end date was last month. So now potentially nothing until April

this is absolutely unacceptable. It used to be that they carried on paying while you waited for a renewal decision because obviously it’s not your fault.

MummyOf2DL · 06/12/2023 23:03

@Let24beabetteryear same as me, everything crossed 🤞🏽

Ivakhunt · 06/12/2023 23:05

I’m having such an awful day too. I feel like just giving up. I’m so so tired.
honestly feel I can take anymore. I hate my life

Babzie · 06/12/2023 23:31

Am scan date 28/08 so I am prob looking in to Feb at this time 🙈
Will they even back date all that if my child is accepted. I keep following this post and its killing me off to see the que literally moving so slow the wait for this stuff is horrific like they ain't let down enough, had a appointment today thinking it was finally a diagnosis and it was just to inform us they have not forgot us as its been a year since last contact 🙈 5 years we have been waiting and now still have to wait because of the huge backlog for the professional to see my child 😭😭

Life is bloody hard but I bet you’re stronger than you think. I completely understand how you feel though, i cried my eyes out in bed last night while the rest of the house was asleep because of worrying what my youngest son’s future might be for him. I’m waiting for him to be diagnosed but he is suspected as having severe autism (adhd). My eldest daughter has autism and disabled and my eldest son has autism and suffers from depression and anxiety. Last night was one of the many nights it got to much because I’m sick of all the waiting for CAHMS to get appointment’s for my eldest son, for results of youngest autism, for outcome of his ehcp, for his epilepsy test results and now his application for dla it’s driving me insane. I was diagnosed with a heart condition last year they said i need to try not to get stressed 😅 no chance of that with having 4 children 3 of which with health problems and a partner who is as helpful as a chocolate teapot most the time 🤣

I know how you feel its the same with my 5 year old son. We just need answers to be able to help our kids the best way we can! Is that so much to ask for? But every thing is done at a snail’s pace. X

They really need to sort it, and get funding or more staff because its really not fair on these little ones, the doctor told me today there are 100s of kids in this que to see the professional and still being added on a daily basis there being seriously let down and this will have massive impacts my daughter as learning difficulties also and is just not getting the help she needs she is in year 3 now to think she will have to sit her sats in another 3 years and is working 2 years below her level with her difficulties let alone her struggles with autism it angers me just had enough today I think 🙈

You are completely right. I have been looking into sending my youngest to a special needs school because he is nearly 6 but has the mind of a 2-3 year old and his school is not coping with him well at all. He has two 1-1 teachers one in the morning and one in the afternoon but I can tell the afternoon one gets frustrated with him. At the moment he has lots of friends and is well liked (but he doesn’t communicate with them) but I know that will change as they get older and realise he is different. He is so loving and always happy but very hyperactive and doesn’t understand dangers at all, he still can’t hold a pencil properly let alone right his own name he is just sat in the corner counting cubes or tracing letters until he has had enough and then left to do what he wants. It’s heartbreaking. Everything is a fight and a battle he had his autism assessment In October finally after waiting 2 1/2 years but now we have to wait till January for the results xx

Casslou22 · 07/12/2023 07:18

Everything you just said is basically my little boy hes five still in pull ups cause he won't potty train has 1 on 1 all day ... by afternoon he kicks off and has had enough ... we waiting for the special needs school as its a huge wait list ... his paperwork went in end of November but I know there's 3 other children at his school also applied ...

Mammalee5 · 07/12/2023 07:38

To all those waiting for cahms / rsdat, there's a free course app called Alison, they have loads of courses for adhd / autism. Short and long courses. I have 4 children with autism and adhd /autism . We did those courses because it's basically the advice you get from Cahms/rsdat so we wanted a headstart. It's probably not for everyone but i found it helpful to be able to understand certain behaviours and how to safely distract from them without forcing my child to mask. Because we home educate we've begun teaching the children about their own and each others conditions. So they understand that one of the isn't mad at the other, they're over stimulated. It definitely reduced arguments and they are a little more understanding of each other. The wait for Cahms is years, so thought I'd share this that helped us a little. At the moment everything will seem harder because we're all distracted/ panicking and worrying over the dla. I hope today is a better day for everyone x
