WhatsitWiggle · 06/12/2023 19:37

Those in the know .... advise please!

I've sent my claim today by Special Delivery. Child will be 16 in March, so by the sounds of it, I won't have a decision before then.

I'd been told if I had a decision, they'd carry on paying DLA until a decision was made on PIP. But what if they're not going to get round to it in time? Should I start a PIP claim now? (Not sure I can face it until after Christmas at least, took me hours to put together all the evidence).

Thank you

Mum2onebeauifulgirl · 06/12/2023 19:48

@Tabithagreen Thank u, When was you aware please as only found out yesterday and they said payment should be either this Friday or on Monday at the latest am in reading so I should hopefully receive her letter by Tuesday next week do u think

Lifesarollercoaster · 06/12/2023 19:53

Sorry i keep posting on the wrong thread as absolutely useless with this kind of stuff… so apologies if you have seen this already!
This gives indication of our time frame:

I had letter early august confirming receipt of forms on 02/08. Another letter mid sept, two texts with the last being 31/10, all saying still looking into the claim. I called today around 10am ish for an update as was 18 weeks today to be told (after being on hold for 1 hour 25 minutes), we will have to wait for up to another 3 weeks or more as with case manager but dependent on their workload to how quick claim looked at. Received text message around 4pm today to say my sons claim has been accepted and wait for two weeks for a letter. Dont know what rate etc but will wait for the letter. South East area, fingers crossed you all hear soon 😊

just a side note; does anyone have any idea when he should anticipate the backpay/first payment? Are we talking weeks or months? Thank you For sticking with the post ☺️

Tabithagreen · 06/12/2023 20:00

I only found out yesterday when the payment was in my bank. I had no text or phone call to confirm. I haven't phoned them up once to chase the claim so the first I knew was payment in my bank then the letter today. The letters should be with you early next week Mon or Tues by the sounds of it. @Mum2onebeautifulgirl

Mammalee5 · 06/12/2023 20:06

@Lifesarollercoaster fantastic news, should be 3-5 working days before you receive payment. Should be able to work rates out from that and then inform any other benefits that may need to know

Oh wow that soon? I didnt expect that, thought it would be more weeks minimum. I dont know why but with the wait times endured so far i didnt expect anything else i guess. Thank you for replying, really appreciate it.

want to wish everyone waiting good luck and those having to do the MR (? I think thats what it is) i wish you all the luck and strength to fight that fight a little longer.

Purple69 · 06/12/2023 20:14
