On hold today for 1 hour + 20 mins, to be told my claim is with a DM… but has been since Friday 10 Nov 🤯😭

Is it normal to be with a DM for 11 days?

MammyAng84 · 21/11/2023 15:45

Clairexdx · 21/11/2023 15:46

Mummyof5kiddos · 21/11/2023 15:56

Does anyone know if you get back pay from UC if you claim carers allowance or would I just get the back pay from carers allowance?

Asdmummyhere · 21/11/2023 16:03

@Clairexdx here u go hun x

@Mummyof5kiddos yes you can, you need to change your circumstances on UC then put a note on your journal asking for it to be backdated from award date x

Hi all,

found this thread a few days ago so been reading.

my scan date is 19/07.
texts on 25/9 & 16/10
& 2 letters

last rang Fri 17th & still wasn’t with a DM. Will ring again this Friday if nothing.

good luck everyone still waiting 😫

Mummyof5kiddos · 21/11/2023 16:08

@Asdmummyhere thank you I’ve done the UC update thing today and they’ve replied but I’ve now decided I’m going to claim carers allowance so didn’t know if I would get any back pay for uc aswell as the back pay for carers allowance, my uc award seems to be the same amount even with the disability element on it if I claim carers allowance so I’m about confused

Asdmummyhere · 21/11/2023 16:11

@Mummyof5kiddos carers allowance is taken £-£ off your UC as it's classed as income. When you get backdated from carers allowance it will mean you have been overpaid by UC for the past few months and will have to pay it back. You don't have to pay it back in one lump some they will take it gradually through your UC payments. You can still get your backdated disabled element and carers element through UC. This shouldn't affect your award as it's monies owed to you from dwp. Hope this helps x

Cheesywiggles · 21/11/2023 17:34

Hey everyone again , hope you don't mind me joining this new thread. Just wondering has anyone else had this response from UC after updating them about DLA? I called them and they have given me an appointment for next week to take my son's award letter in which is fine. The woman on the phone made me really worried cos she said that's it's unusual for them not to be able to verify it and she didn't know how it had happened! Which of course set my anxiety spiralling 🙃 everyone on here is very helpful so I thought it was worth asking if any of you have had the same thing happen? Hoping it's just one of those things and not some kind of issue with my son's claim. I did try to call DLA just to check and stop myself worrying but of course I couldn't get through. Got cut off about 5 times 🤦🏻‍♀️ picture attached is a screenshot of my UC message. I've obviously blotted my son's name out for privacy. Sorry for the long message but if you read it all then thank you 😊

MinnieL · 21/11/2023 17:40

@Cheesywiggles how strange! That usually happens when the award date and/or the award rate has been entered incorrectly and the details you’ve given aren’t adding up with the system. As you have the award letter I’m guessing you just input the details from the letter onto your UC claim?

It’s also annoying that they’ve set up an appointment for you to go to the centre. Are they not able to let you upload a document via PDF so you don’t have to make the journey in person?

Only other thing I can think of is say your child has a double barrel name and it’s that way on your UC claim. If the DLA award doesn’t include the hyphen then it messes up the system as it’s quite sensitive. I had that with both of my children, could it be that? Seems like it’ll be a simple fix though so try not to stress!:)

Mummyof5kiddos · 21/11/2023 17:42

@Clairexdx my decision was made yesterday and she told me thu/fri would receive payment

Jude82 · 21/11/2023 17:46

@Sskanf Yes, I got that letter with same wording as in I am entitled to the change ( that beinh the elements I requested, carers and Disability ) and then it stated you have already been paid £xxx. That is just the ‘normal’ UC you have received from the DLA claim date. It should say under it how much they owe you now and that is the back pay. I got the letter on the journal yesterday and was told will be in the bank tomorrow. If you got it today then you should have it in the bank by Thursday I’d imagine.

Clairexdx · 21/11/2023 17:50

@Jude82 how long did your uc take? Mine will have to go to debt management as i owe them from carers allowance back in March. But will get the rest back

@MinnieL thank you for your reply, that's basically what the lady said on the phone about things not adding up. She ran through all the details with me to check they were all correct and they were, that's why she was confused. It's got me really worried that his claim has been stopped or something without me knowing. I don't even know if that can happen? He only got awarded last week!
No unfortunately they won't let me , I did ask but it's cos it has to be certified by a member of staff at the job centre.
No we don't have a double barrel name so can't be that either. I really don't get it tbh.
I'll try not to , thank you xxx
