quick question for anyone with renewal knowledge. eldests is due to.end 28th December. I sent.the renewal off last week. if it's done early will the existing award still run to 28th december

Our renewal letter tells us what rate we get from the new award date i.e. the old award lasts till then.
Were you wondering if the new rate would kick in as soon as you applied or thinking the award would be discontinued, and wondering when the old award stopped?
Your previous award letter still stands, with its original end date.

MangoPepsiLover · 21/11/2023 11:52

@MammyAng84 Me, 19/07 I don't have time to ring again now, I've not actually spoken to anyone about it at all, it just cuts me off. It's annoying me, because I know it's a decline but I want to hear them say it.

Mummyof5kiddos · 21/11/2023 11:53

Geegee1506 · 21/11/2023 12:00

My son has 2 heart conditions a VSD and pulmonary stenosis. Been waiting for a decision 18 weeks .. not been awarded.. anyone else been awarded for conditions like this? We are awaiting a decision on surgery and have to go to hosp every 3 months. Apparently as he is 'stable' at the minute they do not think he should be awarded it.
How that can be a valid reason I have no clue as he is at high risk of going into heart failure at any point...

Im new but have been following the threads a while…
i’ve rang this morning for an update for my son.
scan date 20/7
she said it went to the DM today and that I should hear within the week so we’ll see

I’ve noticed some of you are mentioning informing UC when you’ve been awarded DLA.. is that something I have to do?

When your child has been awarded DLA, you’re also entitled too additional element on your UC claim.

If your child is awarded LRC or MRC. You can get the child disabled element of £146. If your child is awarded HRC then you get the child disabled element of £456.

If your child is awarded MRC or HRC then you can also get the carers element added onto your claim which is £185. All these elements can still be deducted from your monthly amount due to your earnings.

You have to do a COC that these elements be added onto your UC claim and also ask for the amounts to be backdated. They won’t do it for you automatically. If your child get’s awarded then add a post on the thread asking what to do with UC. There’s two screenshots that I’ve posted with what to do and most posters have them and will be able to let you know the process. Good luck!

Yep you’ve got it right. His award will still carry on until the 28th of December. Apparently, renewals are being looked at quite close to the date that it’s no longer valid. So it’s probably best giving them a call in the new year to see what’s happened with the claim.

Or if the award has increased, you’ll usually see an amount in your account to reflect the difference

Dustydolly · 21/11/2023 12:11

Hi scan date here of 24/7, was actually supposed to be a renewal but silly me
got dates mixed up and they were super strict with timings and said it would have to be a new claim again. My son was on HC & LM so hoping his award stays the same.

Stressedsoph1 · 21/11/2023 12:12

I was more wondering if it got rejected would the award suddenly stop or would that decision be from the end date

Mummyof5kiddos · 21/11/2023 12:12

@Hardingcl im so glad your calling again, hopefully get a more helpful person this time

Mummyof5kiddos · 21/11/2023 12:15

@Geegee1506 Im so sorry to hear this, that’s terrible, I think you should do a MR I can’t see why you wouldn’t have been awarded

MammyAng84 · 21/11/2023 12:16

There’s nothing worse than sitting on hold for over an hour to get an unhelpful person & no further forward :( xx
