Hi everyone. I think I’m just after some advice if anyone can help. I’ve just been awarded for my daughter who has adhd & some signs of autism, she is in a Sen school… anyways my 3 year old just started nursery in September & when I picked him up today the teacher wanted to have a chat.. she asked me if it was ok to make a referral to camhs for him because he is showing the exact same symptoms as my daughter… is it too early to put a dla claim in for him too? He’s already on the waiting list for speech & language after his first assessment which was when he was about 20month… any advice would be greatly appreciated x

You can start a claim if you believe his care needs are higher than the average child of the same age. You may want to get evidence first so you can strengthen your case or you can fill out the form and send evidence down the line before it’s looked at by a DM

@Tmxx I have no idea why they would lie? It just does not seem realistic based on all the scan dates getting awarded on here this week. All appear to be end of June. Hopefully next week we start to hear of more July awards! Fingers crossed x

It seems all over the place because some DM go through their piles quicker than others depending where they are in the country. I remember there was someone on FB earlier this year that had a new claim and was awarded within 10 weeks. Everyone in the comments was so confused! I can’t remember what area they said they were in but maybe they just have less claims to deal with in that specific area where the DMs are. It’s all very confusing really

Thank you so much, i presume i have to wait until I have a decision to be able to apply for it? I only ask because I thought I needed I diagnoses for DLA but after finding out I couldn't apply before a formal diagnosis I sent off my forms they received the 26/07 ... do you know of carers allowance is similar or I need proof of DLA before applying, I've looked on the site but it doesn't really explain

You can visit the Eligibility section for clearer information but yes, your child will need to be awarded DLA for you to apply. They’ll have to be awarded either MRC or HRC. If they’re awarded LRC then you wouldn’t be able to apply

Lollypops88 · 27/10/2023 14:47

@Tmxx @Keddie i was told last week by an advisor ring back on the 13th of november if i havent heard before then
Im the 3rd of july i have seen some people in that week awarded but not many ! My last text was the 25th of september so who knows 🤞🤷‍♂️

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 27/10/2023 14:50

@PinkMoscatoLover yeah they said they need to verify both my girls. I looked online it says they use the child benefit system to verify so shouldn't be a issue getting them verified. They said once that's done they will send it to a decision maker to decide on backpay. Thank you for your help xx

crazytimes20 · 27/10/2023 14:54

@Tmxx I saw an 18/7 be awarded but hers was put as a priority, so maybe the same for that person. I've seen some random dates. I've seen a fair few in early July now.

Mdavies2023 · 27/10/2023 14:54

Hi everyone, my scan date is 20th July for my 10 year old (nearly 11) daughter who has just today been formally diagnosed with Autism and Selective Mutism. Relieved and emotional after 4 years, paediatrician was lively said she should have been diagnoses 2 years ago and gave me a hug and apologised.

I'm not sure how long the confirmation letter will come though the post for extra evidence for her claim, we will be 15 weeks next week, hopefully if it comes soon I can send it.

Is it worth me calling (probably Monday now) to at least update them that she has held her formal diagnosis? She is under CAMHS, SALT etc and I've sent all the evidence for them and the paeds assessment letters think there were 3.

Any advice I would appreciate. Thank you and hope those awaiting decisions get them ASAP ❤️

Thanks so much. Ots such a relief. They said backdated payment will reach my bank Wednesday. Then my monthly pay date is 4th Tuesday of every month from 27th November. I'm so excited to go out and buy my boy everything he needs and deserves. He was in a coma for 4 months from being 16 days old due to contracting meningitis which turned septic and now its left him with fluid on the brain which he's had 3 surgeris for already, global development delay, epilepsy which is still not fully under control with meds. Learning difficulties and sensory processing disorder. He's 6 now and it's been such a fight to get the help and support we have and it's still not enough for his needs. I'm just so grateful because the dla award opens so many doors for our babies. Sending hugs and positive vibes to all xxxx

Beca89 · 27/10/2023 15:04

Next payment is 28th November sorry. Xx

Mommaof2babas · 27/10/2023 15:33

Hi,
Been reading a quite a while, but first post!
My scan date is 12/07
Received second text 09/10
Phoned on Tuesday after hour 40 on hold was told its now a 19 week wait even though letter state 15 weeks! So said should be w/c 20th November.

Just wanted to ask about UC back date for disability part and carers element, on my forms I received it says my claim start date (if accepted is 10th june) so will uc be backdated to that date or will it be scan date (12/07) or is it award date (w/c 20/11) the that a decision is made? I've been reading other comments but a little confused by it?
Congratulations to all who have been awarded recently!

mumof3bs1more · 27/10/2023 15:38

hello all,

just a little message , I have posted before but didn’t get any replies.
I called today and was told my application is with a case manager. My scan date is 28/06/2023.
I am not very hopefully as didn’t have much evidence , I rang yesterday and the lady on the phone told me to send everything I had next day delivery as a decision would be made very soon. I sent extra evidence yesterday recorded delivery , I rang today and it had already been scanned on to the system.
good luck all

Congrats @Beca89 another scan date buddy!

congrats @allofthelove ❤️x

Thank you . Huge relief . Its been 18 + 1 day . I received two texts but havnt had confirmation text .

I really thought I hadn't sent in enough evidence . As I sent in autism diagnosis and epilepsy diagnosis, nothing from the school or senco , which after reading this group I thought I had no chance .

I can now apply for carers allowance .

I think I also seen that on Facebook about the 10 weeks! So really my relying on other people to ring means nothing because they could be in a faster pile! Might have to brave it and ring soon 🙈 xx

Kyarcy1316 · 27/10/2023 16:00

I called this morning as its 17 weeks for me, the gent I spoke too said they have people working over time at weekends so should hopefully be with a dm next week and if I haven't heard by Friday call back and they can't try and help more as it will be 18 weeks since scan date.

Mumof385 · 27/10/2023 16:04

@mumof3bs1more hi, my scan date is the 29/6 I did the same and sent more evidence recorded delivery yesterday hopefully mine has been scanned onto the system too, was told mine would be going to dm in the next 10 days, worrying I haven't sent enough is driving me mad lol, good luck 😊

Harrydog111 · 27/10/2023 16:06

Braved a 2pm call...decision made today MRC and LRM. Scan date 21/06.
For reassurance to anyone with little evidence, I filled in the form myself. My daughter does have a ECHP so I noted that but didn't enclose a copy. I assume school and GP contacted to verify

Have been awarded today , 18 weeks one day . MRC . So happy .

Scan date 22 June
2 texts

Congrats!

Sammy8919 · 27/10/2023 16:19

Congratulations on all them rewarded today

Myl1984 · 27/10/2023 16:20

That’s good it’s already gone on. My scan dates 05/07 and need to send further info in today. Spoke to them yesterday and just said I was close to being looked at. Worried my info would not make it in time. I was told that you can still send late evidence in.

Mummyrach13 · 27/10/2023 16:34

They’ve always been pretty good at scanning evidence on on the day it arrives if sent special delivery.

well done to those awarded it’s lovely to see.

Its giving me a little hope that some have been awarded with little evidence.

Here we go into the weekend ladies!
wonder if anyone will receive a text or phone call! Seems the percentage of people who receive award texts are very small x

@PinkMoscatoLover thanks so much for your reply. I’ll have a look to see what letters etc I have from speech & language and then I’ll send a copy of the camhs referral from nursery. x
