I’m still on tax credits, anyone else? I’m wondering how they back date & how long it takes etc. My son was awarded HRC & LRM Friday last week.

Rebeccanew · 01/11/2023 10:39

Hi so I called and estimated 18.5 weeks but the woman did state it’s 18.5 weeks then it goes to a decision maker which then Weill be further is this true or is it 18.5 weeks all in as the other people iv spoke to on the phone has said 18.5 all in for decision? X

ARH36 · 01/11/2023 10:42

I called Friday, desperate to call again. They did tell me I would get a text but I know they don’t all have that facility. Scan date 29/6, should I give it another day or two? 🙈 I’m getting more anxious as this week goes on

Rebeccanew · 01/11/2023 10:45

ARH no harm giving them a call you are still June iv seen little few of start of July so I think you could maybe have a answer…good luck hun keep us posted xxxxx

Loopy2406 · 01/11/2023 10:45

On hold now, scan date 30/6
Fingers crossed for my daughter 🤞.
I sent no good evidence so highly unlikely will be an award

ARH36 · 01/11/2023 10:46

@Rebeccanew thank you, I’ll call them up now. I’ll let you know the outcome ☺️ xxxxx

Rebeccanew · 01/11/2023 10:55

Good luck arh! 🩷 xxxx

Muva25 · 01/11/2023 11:09

@Kyarcy1316 oh ok well I initially said it’s been almost 5 months this is ridiculous she said oh they are taking 18th Wk I said well it’s 18 weeks in two days so surely some info should be available she said call back next week it’s so annoying that they can’t just give a straight answer

Mdavies2023 · 01/11/2023 11:16

Cant imagine how stressful for all the June dates still without an answer how frustrating! Hopefully you get answers soon they seem to be struggling to get through June dates there must have been a lot in June! Scan date 20/07

Kyarcy1316 · 01/11/2023 11:22

@Muva25 it's one of the most stressful things I've done, most have been super helpful but they have this way of answering questions with scripted answers

LGR004 · 01/11/2023 11:33

@ARH36 managed to get through yet? Same scan date, mine went DM on Monday called yesterday said to call back on the 10th! Was really hoping this would be the last week for me :( x

ARH36 · 01/11/2023 11:35

@LGR004 still on hold after 43 minutes, hopefully get through within the next half hour or so. Oh dear, I hope you hear something before the 10th! I bet you’re going out of your mind!

LGR004 · 01/11/2023 11:40

@ARH36 ah tell me about it, just when i thought I was at the end got told to wait another 10 days ! But what can you do! Yesterday took 1hr 7 mins for me to get though so fingers crossed you can get through and get an update ! It’s been the longest 18 weeks of my life I can imagine it’s been the same for you! 🤧 let me know what they say! X

Called Monday to be told not with a DM yet, called today to be told my son was declined DLA days ago. So upset. Guess a MR is necessary now. How do I go about it? Does anyone have any tips please?? Xx

I’m so sorry to hear that! Give them a call and say that you’d like to do a MR, please can they send you the breakdown of why it was declined. Otherwise they’ll just send you the standard declined letter in the post which is generic and isn’t specific to your claim.

You’ll be able to go back to them point for point on why you disagree. If you can disagree with a point and reference a piece of evidence then that’ll help even more. Good luck🤞

Question regarding the Disabled Child Element on UC.

I know my son is entitled to the Higher Rate as as his DLA award is HRC LRM.

What rate would my daughter be entitled to with MRC HRM?

Congratulations on the award! They don’t take mobility into consideration when it comes to the disabled child element, only the care component.

So for MRC you’ll receive £146. If it was HRC then you’d get the higher element like you do for your son. Well done on getting HRM under VUW as that’s extremely hard to get in a lot of cases!

Loopy2406 · 01/11/2023 11:53

Scan date 30/6
Apparently its still not allocated to a decision maker but should be very soon.
They have said that for last 2 weeks.
I'm losing the plot and I don't know why because almost certain it will be declined due to lack of evidence 😓

Kelz23 · 01/11/2023 11:56

@Loopy2406 they really seem to be slow this last couple weeks not budging from end June claims. It’s awful

Kelz23 · 01/11/2023 11:57

Good luck @ARH36

ARH36 · 01/11/2023 12:05

Thank you @Kelz23

@Loopy2406 I’m worried I didn’t send enough evidence too. I just want to know the outcome now it seems so long ago when I filled out the forms

Kelz23 · 01/11/2023 12:07

@ARH36 @Loopy2406 what did you send I’m exactly the same as my lad masks at school x

Muva25 · 01/11/2023 12:12

@Kyarcy1316 yeah its terrible it’s almost like counting down the weeks in pregnancy lol! I’m sooo worried we’ll be declined but surely a ng tube fed child with chromosome deletion is seen as more care than her twin because I know damn well she is ( me being the one caring for them) hopefully we hear something soon I’m running out of patience if o do t hear nothing by the time I call Monday I’ll be making a complaint

Loopy2406 · 01/11/2023 12:15

@Kelz23 I sent the form I great detail. A supporting letter from a close friend , a supporting letter from next door neighbour who hears the day and night meltdowns. And her diagnosis of hypothyroidism (which isn't what I'm aiming for). I talked about her behaviour in great detail and her need for her thyroxine medication and laxido everyday as she struggles with constipation since a baby. But I had nothing else to send and now worried that I didn't even write enough 😕. I know her care needs are a lot higher than alot of children I just can't prove it 😓 xx

ARH36 · 01/11/2023 12:17

Claim has been ‘declined’ a couple of days ago. Sending me out a detailed letter as to why. I feel like all that time was absolutely wasted 😞

Kelz23 · 01/11/2023 12:17

@Loopy2406 it worse with them taking so long as start questioning yourself if you done enough, hopefully it won’t be much longer x good luck

Thank you!

Okay thank you for clarifying. I'm not entirely sure why she wasn't given HRC but I'm happy with the award regardless and who knows, it may change in the future.

I was holding out hope for HRM due to her conditions (Spina bifida and others) but the threshold to get it seems so ridiculously high! I got worried when I was told a few days ago it was sent off for medical advice!

What is VUW?
