Natelias · 14/10/2023 15:45

Does anyone know what u do if you still get tax credits do you just inform them ? I see lots on the uc side but I haven't been switched yet

Give them a call with your award dates. They’ll add on disabled child element. It’s around £70 a week if you receive low or middle care, and around £100 a week for high care. They also backdate to start of award.

Thank you, yes that makes sense... however I don't get any UC we literally earn a few pounds too much to be able to receive UC that's where I may have gotten myself confused with there being 3 parts too it maybe thr 3rd part is on UC which I'm not entitled too

Jolouise1986 · 14/10/2023 16:08

@Lovely17 my scan date is not long after so hopefully hear something next week be on week 18 🤞🤞

Caitlyn59 · 14/10/2023 16:49

Hi
does anyone know how much your allowed to earn to be able to claim the disability element if you get awarded .

Shibdib45 · 14/10/2023 17:55

I’m awaiting to hear from DLA but I’m just in the process of changing to UC will I still get back payment from tax credits if I contact them if he’s awarded. ?? Xx

There is no earning cap on disability child element and careers element in UC. However, if earn more than 139£ a week you can’t claim careers allowance. Remember your monthly UC will still be deducted from your salary.

Hi

As long as the child is awarded with a care component then you can claim the disabled child element. It’ll be apart of your entitlement but can still be deducted due to your monthly income. It all depends on your entitlement vs your income

Caitlyn59 · 14/10/2023 18:56

Hi
do they deduct it off your award ,
as I didn’t know if you got awarded you could claim a disability child element.
thank you

😂😂😂 I want to call again on Monday but they’ll prob tell me to stop calling! X

Mrsstephens04 · 14/10/2023 20:16

What does everyone say when they ring up for an update, if you don't mind me asking? Is it just literally "hello I'm calling for an update on such & such's claim" or do people call for a reason and just ask for an update while their on thr phone?

Hi, we are now on 17 weeks so I’ve called weekly since week 15 as that’s what it stated in the letter. We’re all told different things so ringing doesn’t actually get us very far but if it’s with a decision maker at least we know the result is coming soon.
yes normally just call and ask for an update. Most are nice but you get the odd snotty one saying not to call for another few weeks etc x

Mummyrach13 · 14/10/2023 20:51

The weekend is dragging, it’s all I have thought about and now thinking have I done enough to explain for my child.
This wait is the worst.

I feel exactly the same, and already thinking of what I can send in for a MR 😢 what’s your scan date lovely? X

Mummyrach13 · 14/10/2023 20:56

Same. We all wouldn’t be going through this if we feel they didn’t require it but now thinking If it’s a decline then I didn’t do the forms correctly! It’s awful.
my date is 26/6 so a while yet although seen a post from someone with the same date that has been contacted by them.
Im glad we have this chat as it’s holding on to the only bit of sanity I have left 😂 x

Jneill2021 · 14/10/2023 21:11

Mines 22 weeks Wednesday the wait is killing me Iol xx

Mummyrach13 · 14/10/2023 21:12

I feel for you @Jneill2021 I couldn’t cope by 22 weeks! I hope you get an answer asap! Sending positive vibes for you x

Jneill2021 · 14/10/2023 21:16

Thank you mine is a Coc been told could be 27 weeks the wait is unbearable 😔 hope you get the outcome you want for your little one xxx

MummyBrx · 14/10/2023 21:17

It's nice to know I'm not the only one struggling with the wait!

It was about 3.30am last night and I've been same all last week which isn't great with having to be up at 6.30am for work.

Really hope I hear soon it'll prob get worse everyday up until decision knowing me my anxiety is through the bloody roof.

Even thinking to myself it's very rare people get texts so I might not even know for another 2 week as if I got awarded late next week back pay wouldn't be in until week after that I'm just done with this already 😂😂

Going to need sedating at this rate hahahah
We got this ladies really hope we all get good outcome

thank you

Do you mean whether they deduct the disabled child element and/or carer element from the DLA award? If so then no they don’t. DLA goes into your account every 4 weeks.

The disabled child and carer element is added to your UC claim before any deductions based on your income. If you claim UC already then you‘ll know what I mean when I say the amounts get added to your entitlement before any deductions. Hope that makes sense
