Loup19863 · 23/09/2023 12:29

I’m trying to be positive but you know when you’ve got this awful feeling where you just know 😩 I think it’s also the wait time and seeing people after our date awarded already x

Celestiaxo · 23/09/2023 12:46

Mumofkidsx3 · 24/09/2023 02:23

Just saw some ladies on here with children with ASD, ADHD type difficulties in their children, awaiting diagnosis. I wanted to let you guys know my son appears typical has friends and loves people. However “appears” is the key word here because in reality when in a conversation with him he is hyper focused on the things he likes, will not stop talking about his focus in that moment and does not give and take in a conversation. He is very lucky to go to a school where the children have accepted him. He is overly friendly like every person in the world is his best friend. He is 9 and has diagnosis of ASD, ADHD and dyslexia. The school has been amazing. He struggles to concentrate last year his max was 3 mins now progressed to 6 mins. Will irrationally react to things I.e run, jump dive on floor, if he gets spooked. Still sleep walks, however he is mostly easily returned to bed now. He couldn’t settle himself to sleep up until he turned 7. He is above average intelligence, according to educational psychologist. He’s just been awarded medium rate care and low rate mobility. He only got his ASD Diagnosis in April. Our evidence was the school plans and his diagnosis but I had help filling out the form and was told to include everything so each return to bed was 5 mins, each time I check to see if he’s got up is 5 mins ect, if I hadn’t had help I wouldn’t have included the small stuff. I really think you all should get it, even if they ask for more evidence / information, your end awards should be similar to my lads. I’m still waiting on my eldest DM 🫠 Good luck all

Loup19863 · 24/09/2023 06:44

@Mumofkidsx3 glad your son got awarded, that gives me some hope. Really wish I’d asked for help with the forms now but I’m hoping if I haven’t gone into enough detail the DM will call me and ask for more info. The waiting is awful really hoping tomorrow I’ll know either way 😩 x

Mumof5xo · 24/09/2023 07:30

Hi I've been following this thread for some time now I've sent of 2 claims for 2 of my sons which are 3 and 5 can date is 25th May I rang last Monday and was told waiting times are now 19 week and to not ring till October regardless of this im going to ring Monday but is there anyone else with the 25th May that have been awarded both my children are very different but both are on waiting lists to be seen for asd, adhd wasn't much evidence and we are on waiting lists for everything at moment the wait is dreadful🤦‍♀️ im just getting nervous now that its been declined I didn't send much evidence just very detailed about how they are day to day and also school and nursery completed abit for there section I think im just going into panic mode now😔

Loup19863 · 24/09/2023 07:46

@Mumof5xo my date is 23rd may and I’m still waiting, it’s been with DM since last wk, completely understand how you feel it’s awful waiting isn’t it ☹️ I don’t feel like I sent much evidence, just the MAAT pathway letter, school plans and his IEP, school also did a statement for me. I didn’t go into much detail on the form which is why I’m worried we might get declined. What evidence did you send? X

It really does put alot of stress especially how long it takes there wasn't much evidence with them only being 3 and 5 school hasn't put forward a plan yet there wanting us to see a peds before anything is put in place they did both write on there parts of the forms about how they are in school/nursery the get to know me forms are with the peds waiting to be picked up so put that on there both on waiting lists for speech therapy one has been accepted for this but I couldn't but that on my form because was waiting when I completed it my 5 year old is very hyper,he can't focus hes very behind in alot of thing hes also a twin and seeing how his other twin is to him is very different he has sensory issues cannot stand anything touching him water clothes etc it very difficult to even get him to bath,he has no danger awareness has to be strapped to me when we walk anywhere even out of garden has to be watch because of how dangerous he can be hes chews his clothes constantly he also self harms so will bite himself, pinch etc he is verbal but is very fast at talking its like he's 10x faster then us all in his head he doesn't sleep id say he gets 3 hours max a night has issues with noises has to have ear defenders every were we go routine is key if we have to go out of it its world war 3, my 3 year old is non verbal he doesn't speak at all his mental age according to nursery would be a 1 year old hes always on his tip toes constantly flapping and simming he doesn't make eye contact or respond to his name he has no danger awareness so is still in push chair even reins are too dangerous because how he walks he has sensory issues but he loves water so totally opposite in that aspect thats just some parts I put down I hope this helps im really think mines been declined x

Loup19863 · 24/09/2023 08:08

@Mumof5xo I think you have a really strong case there, if all that is in your form I can’t see how you would get declined, your 5yr old sounds very similar to my 8yr old when he was that age, we still have the bath time/water issue, he can’t wear certain clothing, he can’t stand certain sounds, smells, tastes, won’t eat hot food, his physical outbursts are awful and are so hard to manage now he’s getting bigger, he can’t hold a conversation, he’s probably more like a 4-5yr old than a 8yr old, but he masks all this brilliantly in school which is apparently really common. Completely get how you’re feeling though regards to being declined, I can’t believe how anxious I’m feeling over it, I just really hope he’s accepted so we can get some private help to make life easier for us all, keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻 keep us updated x

Sskanf · 24/09/2023 08:14

Your 3 year old sounds like my almost 4 year old. He was assessed by speech therapist and school SENCO and was told he has the mental.age of 1 year old, speech therapist also highlighted he has a social communication disorder. Doesn't mix in or socialise with anyone and if routines broken it will cause serious meltdowns all day and night. He wakes several times screaming he's still in a cot next to my bed to be keot safe but will have to take him out several tines and put next to me to Co sleep as he has attachment problems

Mumtotwoboys121 · 24/09/2023 09:23

Scan date 14/6 my just turned 3 year old is non verbal no awareness of danger, doesn’t really meltdown at all however he hates other babies screaming and will hit out at the adults both at home at nursery, can’t settle himself at night we have a 10 month old too so sometimes things are difficult. On the other hand he adores his little brother only started adknowledging him in the last month or two, when nursery assessed him they put him down as developmental age of 3-6 months which shocked me, we have portage involved, refered to SLT and paediatrics but I still feel we will get declined. The further it gets into the claim the more I feel that I didn’t write enough to support the claim and that we’ll have to go to MR.
Nursery have been promising private SLT since April but haven’t seen it yet, so if we get this dla we will be using it for that.

My 15 weeks is up on Wednesday but I know il get annoyed if I call and they don’t give me an update, so think I will have to wait it out until 17 weeks at least. Good luck all x

Sskanf · 24/09/2023 10:02

I also have a 10 month old and my little boy will not interact with her at all and will try pushing her if in his way.
The fact yours does is positive and hopefully with time he will develop. I'm sure you've filled the forms to the best of your ability if they need more info they will contact u before making a decision fingers crossed. I think its natural during this long wait for us all to think perhaps we could've put more but the forms can be daunting! And hard to fill especially where they jeep asking for time frames for eating/settling.
Fingers crossed you get a positive response in the coming few days x

Mumof2boys11 · 24/09/2023 10:55

Has anyone heard from the 2nd of June yet?
My little one has adhd and I've submitted a fair bit of evidence just hoping its enough? 🤞

Mumofkidsx3 · 24/09/2023 10:57

@Mumof5xo my scan date was 25/05 also. I also applied for 2 sons. 9 years( the one I spoke about above) and 14 years, who has ASD, and Epilepsy. My 14 year old is opposite to 9 yr old. He dislikes people, has no desire to be around people, he’s verbally capable and goes to mainstream. However it’s a real task getting him to go to school. He loves learning and gaming but would just stay in his attic bedroom for ever if he had his way. The epilepsy is still giving him seizures despite medication. His claim still with DM. Ring them again, it will be a different person they might have more info. Im going to call on Monday.

I've seen some people who's after 25th so thats why I'm starting to get worried o hope you get the help you all deserve x

Mumofkidsx3 · 24/09/2023 11:09

@Mumof5xo yeah try not to worry because your claims are for little kids pre diagnosis’s, I guess they would need to get a professional ASD/adhd pead dr/nurse, to give their opinion, maybe this is the delay. My middle boy was very much like your 5 year old at that age. He still struggles with assessing dangers and still makes bad safety decisions. I had no idea that I could apply for DLA without diagnosis. My boys took forever to finally get theirs. I wish I had known years ago.

The one reason I knew to I could apply without one was because my close mates son is autistic and adhd and she got awarded when he was 3 for his hes now 8 she has the diagnosis now for him though I have all the professional backing me up its just waiting for a ped to pick the get to know me forms up now could be a 2 year wait though luckily in the mean time of me waiting they've both been accepted in speech therapy we've got actual appointments to go see someone up at the community hospital for this now so if they do ring me I can add that to it also I've also done atkeast 5 parent courses in meantime to rule that out

Chels2020 · 24/09/2023 11:45
