I’ve just called. Scan date 17/11 she said it’s the same as when you rang last week No decision ! So they definitely note every time you call. it’s gone to dm today though she said and it could be 1-10 days for decision. May get a text it depends on which dm has it and whether they have text facilities or not. The end is in sight!! Good luck all

Hopefully you have a quick decision maker and you'll be awarded in the next day or so xx

Scan date 22/11 (worcester) called today after seeing othe rpeople with the same scan date comment on here and they told me its a 15 week wait, im in week 13 currently, he was so nice he did say that some dm's work faster than others but if i dont hear back by week 16 call again

I bet if you call monday next week they will say it was assigned to a DM on saturday. Fingers crossed for you xx

Judesmommy34 · 21/02/2023 16:35

2 weeks is a long time, did you ask them what the notes say on the system? They could of requested more information from school or GPs. That way you can chase them up. Failing that, they might be off work sick. The cases dont get assigned to another DM unless they are off work for more than 3 weeks xx

Honeslty the lady could not see any reason why on her screen she said all the evidence is there etc so she was a bit confused her self lol hopefully after her email I may be able to get a clearer picture

Als2017 · 21/02/2023 16:41

I rang today 18/11 is my scan date she said taking 15 weeks

I felt like that as I didnt have that much evidence to send them, I only had his EHCP for nursery, his behaviour & speech and language therapy plans plus his acceptance onto the pathway. My son is 3 and a half, i felt like everything I said was going to look like the normal care someone his age already needed. I did write a personal statement, explaining every answer I put on the form. It was 3 A4 pages long, but it was to give them an understanding why my son needs the extra care he does xx

Hope you get an answer soon! Its rare to be with a DM for that long if they havent requested extra information from a 3rd party. Good Luck hun xx

Im the same ive sent his certificate of vision imapirment and vision impaiment diagnosis etc, and written as much as i possibly could explaining how his vision impacts his life along with sensory issues and overstimulation etc but hes only 2 and ive heard people constantly say that under 3s get refused, im so worried i need to fund his sensory sessions aswell as adaptations for his vision etc and i cant work because he needs me here and has so many appointments so weve only got 1 income coming in, he needs this money to be able to thrive and get the things he needs to thrive

my neice is quite severally autistic, also has vision impairments, she has been receiving high rate DLA since she was 18 months old so definitely dont think its about age, its about the care what they need, if youve explained that then im sure you'll be successful xx

Judesmommy34 · 21/02/2023 17:03

Thank you so much for giving me a bit of faith that really means alot!! Oh ive defo thoroughly explain lets just hope it ends uo in the right person's hands

my niece is partially sighted in both eyes, aswell as being autistic, she has a range of about 30% vision in each eye. My sister explained everything and she was awarded at 18 months old high rate for 4 years. If the DM actually reads all the evidence and your own statement then Im sure your child will receive the award they deserve. Of course a child who cannot see properly needs extra care than a child with no health issues!
She was too young for Mobility when she applied but was awarded high rate mobility when she turned 3 aswell, it was accepted straight away.
Wishing you lots of luck, keep the faith xx

AdhdMumOf3 · 21/02/2023 17:12

@lillysmammy aparently to speak to dla on the phone is a gesture of goodwill that can't be offered to me and its against policy to help with forms or write anything supportive.. Its only like that for me though I know a few they've helped.. I don't take it personal even though I know it is haha x

My niece is so funny though, shes diagnosed with aspergers so she has no filter and says whatever she thinks immediately, even though she cant see, the girl doesnt miss a trick! My sister and I laugh about it now, because when she first realised she was blind and there was a possibility she was autistic she cried her eyes out for weeks, we drank so much wine through those weeks but now shes 8, is totally her own little person shes just wonderful. Granted shes not like other children, cant take part in usual activities and will eventually lose her sight completely one day but DLA saw the evidence and awarded her based on the extra care she needed, im sure you little one will be the same xx

Judesmommy34 · 21/02/2023 17:18

The schools are funded by the local council and are duty bound to ensure any child with SEN needs are given the support they need regardless. When I approached my SENCO coordinator for help with the DLA application she was more than obliging and said its part of their job to ensure the child receives all the support they need inside and out of school. Maybe you need to complain to the school governors, the local council or the archdiocese if its a catholic school. Thats their job! They get paid extra wages for their senco role, if they are not doing their job properly then they deserve to lose that part of their salary! I feel so sorry for you that you are getting no support from them, I would have went into the school like a giant tornado if I got treated like you did xx

Thisgirlis2 · 21/02/2023 19:04

I sent off my dla claim January - got a letter dated 22/1 to say they received it on the 19/1 so I’m guessing April/May before I hear anything 😔

Macariosmummy · 21/02/2023 21:56

@AdhdMumOf3 I have everything crossed for you and I hope your child gets what they deserve 🤞🏽 please keep us updated and hopefully you will hear by Friday xx

Does anyone know what a formal communication assessment is with paediatrician. Sorry gone off track a little

Snickerdoodles19 · 22/02/2023 08:13

DIASS are really good I’ve used them in the past but I suppose it depends on the situation.

Snickerdoodles19 · 22/02/2023 08:22

@Shellbel10 is it to do with speech and language?
