Thought it was time for a new thread :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CMVB · 28/02/2023 15:24

Yes that’s right so if you fill the mobility part in too and send in any professional evidence that backs up the need for supervision outside, lack of danger awareness, if they have to use a buggy still or whatever, then if they feel your child is entitled to the mobility part it will begin from their 5th birthday x

CMVB · 28/02/2023 15:26

Sorry that was a reply to @ChazD27

emilyant · 28/02/2023 15:43

They told me within 2 days 2 days ago. But not here yet! But usually pretty quick.

That’s brilliant thank you so much for explaining that to me it’s been baffling me despite being next summer haha. Is the renewal pack the same as a normal set of forms? And roughly when do you do it? x

CMVB · 28/02/2023 16:32

@ChazD27 The renewal form was a bit smaller if I recall. Not by a lot though still hell to fill in! My sons forms were sent to me 20 weeks before the claim was due to end and I think I sent them back with about 15 weeks to go. Didn’t get looked at until 2 weeks until it was due to run out which was anxiety inducing but perfectly normal apparently! xx

Snickerdoodles19 · 28/02/2023 17:16

@CMVB its awful, mines due to run out 2 weeks today

CMVB · 28/02/2023 17:20

Snickerdoodles19 Might be worth calling up this week then, my renewal was done exactly 2 weeks before it was due to run out ☺️

Snickerdoodles19 · 28/02/2023 17:21

@CMVB i may try at the end of the week, I had oral surgery yesterday so having trouble speaking at the min🙄🙄

Adhdmumto5 · 28/02/2023 18:52

Hi all.
I’ve been silently following for a couple of weeks!
my scan date was 16/11/22 and I tried to forget all about it. I received a text around 10 weeks in telling me it was still being looked at and then this evening around 5:30 I’ve received a text to say my daughter qualifies! I’m still in complete shock. I’ve no idea what she’s getting yet but the text says a letter will arrive within 2 weeks.
you have all been the strength I’ve needed to get through the last few weeks.
we are in Derbyshire if anyone is still waiting for similar scan dates!

Mumrobyn4 · 28/02/2023 19:35

My scan date was 22/12/22 anyone around the same time heard anything yet? Iv had letter saying sorry still been looked at, could take upto 11 weeks and a txt message yesterday saying your dla1 child claim is still been looked at.

Mumof3boys28 · 28/02/2023 19:39

I'm 19/12, had a letter and a text. I rang up a couple of weeks ago and they told me 13-15 weeks. Seems they're telling people different times, I've seen someone being told up to 17 weeks. Seems by following this thread they are working on mid-end of November atm, so hopefully 3-4 more weeks for mid-end December 🤞

Amylou7 · 28/02/2023 19:54

I was awarded today my scan date was 14th Nov, HRC and LRM,

I’m wondering if anyone knows what happens next in regards to UC? I’ve sent a message to my advisor and he said that I need to apply for careers allowance? I was under the impression that there would be a careers element added to the universal credit and a disabled child element?

Mumof3boys28 · 28/02/2023 20:59

Also interested in the answer to this question as if DS qualifies ill be in the same situation. Also does anyone know how long the process of applying for carers allowance takes?

baublewobble · 28/02/2023 21:16

I've not commented before. I sent forms for my daughter in around 17th Feb to arrive by 21st but I didn't send recorded because the post office was closed. Worried now they won't have received them and I'll never know. They sent the wrong form first so was a few weeks behind anyway. Gutted! Wish I sent recorded delivery but the envelope was prepaid. Did anyone else send in the envelope it came with?

xxnikki · 28/02/2023 23:02

Mines same scan date, i recieved the 2 letters and the text yesterday too lol x

Mumof3boys28 · 01/03/2023 01:39

I returned the forms in December during Royal Mail strikes, I did send it recorded delivery but Royal Mail never actually updated that they were signed for. During the strikes it took 8 or 9 days I think it was. I gave them a call and they were really helpful and let me know they had them and gave me the scan date.

Kimmarris941 · 01/03/2023 07:35

Morning all.. 13 weeks today so fingers crossed we won’t be waiting much longer 🤞🤞🤞

lawraahh32 · 01/03/2023 08:18

14 weeks tomorrow and still haven’t heard. Fingers crossed it’s this week

If you know the exact dates your DLA was awarded from you need to do a change of circumstances of "people who live with you" and amend your childs record to say they are receiving DLA Highest Care rate, when it asks when did this change happen you need to put the date your dla was awarded from. Then you need to update the caring for someone section same thing applies.

Once you have done both of these, make 2 separate notes on your journal under the payment option. Explain your child has been awarded DLA today and you are requesting that the Disability Child Element be backdated to his awarded date. Then do the same for the second note but about carers element xx

UC advisors are useless, dont apply for carers allowance it will taken from your universal credit £ for £.

I sent mine originally with the freepost envelope, sent them on the 9th october but the form wasnt scanned on the system until 23rd November, I would give it another 2 weeks and give them a ring to see if they have received it x

If you claim Universal Credit dont apply for carers allowance because UC makes deductions £1 for £1. If you dont claim UC and claim tax credits then yes apply for carers allowance.
Universal Credit has Carers Element you can apply for, Ive just replied to Amy on what to do when you get your DLA decision x

lillysmammy · 01/03/2023 09:29

Just to add also for everyones information if you claim LCWRA on Universal Credit you are not able to claim the carers element for your child x

That’s exactly what I thought, so seemed pointless, especially when the careers allowance is only backdated 3 months anyway

Perfect, thank you so much for that 😊

I managed to update the changes but I’ll add two notes as you’ve suggested too.
