i’ve just called because if i’m honest i’m getting really impatient now and she didn’t even ask for a reference or name before saying you’ll need to wait 15 weeks then proceeded to say if i’ve not heard anything in 4 weeks call them and they’ll escalate it! baring in mind i’m going into my 14th week so how can she say it takes 15 weeks 1 minute and then say 4 weeks on top of the 14 we’ve already waited the next 🙄

Thats terrible, call again in the morning. Im 23rd november and was awarded tuesday. 2 people on the facebook group have received texts this afternoon saying their child qualifies and their scan date is 21st November xx

tourettesadhdmum · 23/02/2023 16:43

@lillysmammy my scan dates 22/11 and i said well how is it people with my scan date and after are being awarded she said well it depends on your area 🤔 she was the most unhelpful person i’ve ever spoken to, she literally didn’t even take any of our details just looked at a calendar and gave me a daft answer. so i said when do i call, the day we turn week 18 or 4 weeks today she said 4 weeks today i said well that’ll take me over 18 weeks she said yeah then we’ll escalate it 🙄

Ive spoke to the same person twice, exactly like that, an older lady who wouldnt give me any information at all, just told me to wait until mid march before calling again because it wont even be looked at until then... 4 days after her telling me that I was awarded by a DM! They literally know nothing on the phone or cant be bothered to check! I wouldnt mind but they are being paid to update us on our claims! Its not like they are doing it for free!! Call again in the morning and explain that the person you spoke to today was rude and unhelpful xx

You get so many different stories I got a different one every time I called my scan date was 3/11 and literally only got awarded this morning I know how frustrating it is when you see so many others being awarded long after your date but hopefully you will hear sooner and they escalated mine on Tuesday so less than 18 weeks that made it 16 weeks

tourettesadhdmum · 23/02/2023 16:56

@lillysmammy omg this was an older lady too! i wonder if it’s the same person it was as if she was reading from a script it rolled off her tongue that well! i just want to know if it’s a yes or no it’s been that long x

Just to note, the people that have been awarded today for the 21st november are in the same area as me, maybe merseyside is working quicker through applications than others, theres a person on here too who was awarded a couple of days ago 22nd nov scan date she was also the same area xx

tourettesadhdmum · 23/02/2023 16:58

@lillysmammy that would make sense then as i’m the other side of the country to you lol @JJS1984 well at least i know its only a 2 week wait to be escalated and not 4 lol i just want to know either way

what annoys me the most, is they make you feel terrible for calling up to check on the progress! Its our application for OUR kids! Maybe if they were in the position of dealing with a child with disabilities without the financial support they need to care for them better, they would change their tune!

Alex900 · 23/02/2023 17:13

Oh gosh Im ringing every day 🙈 mine were received 27/1 I have a mega long wait and I arnt even sure they will give my Son the dla 🤷🏼‍♀️

tourettesadhdmum · 23/02/2023 17:14

@lillysmammy exactly! we don’t ask for our little darlings to require extra support and people like that haven’t a clue :(

I’m literally new to it all 🤷🏼‍♀️ the CAMHS, the SEN team, the education safeguarding and then all the forms they want filling in 🤯🤯 it’s madness how hard it actually is. And then the wait time on too. I did ring today and she said she had my forms for 8 week so I’m looking at at least another 8 week to wait.

They say its 16 weeks wait but its more like 13.5, so wont be as long as you think. Plus they seem to be powering through applications lately so it might not even be 13 weeks by the time your date comes around xx

lillysmammy · 23/02/2023 17:24

My husband has not long got home with our DS, he had one of his meltdowns this afternoon, headbutted our friends patio doors and smashed the glass!! Thankfully it wasnt nothing too serious, eventhough it looked like a scene from a horror movie... one small stitch in his head, DH had the usual questioning from social services at the hospital LOL, their book must me full with me and my DS... Luckily enough they have all his medical information and know hes prone to doing this!

When I tell you I have read from forum 1 on this thread, threw every comment, before commenting I have. It’s been a long journey for some but I have seen more acceptance than decline in the dla forms which is good. I havnt a diagnosis yet. Infact it was missed right until he started upper school and EVERYTHING changed for him and with him. It’s been a constant fight since September. So no diagnosis. A report from his primary school which they never informed me or sent to the upper school until asked about it. The reports from Sen at primary a CAMHS referral and 2 A4 paper of how he is as a person at home and that’s all I got to go on 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I’m holding out no hope for me x

its doesnt get decided by diagnosis, is purely goes by the care the child needs and whether they require more care and support than a "normal" child of their age! Nobody can tell the DLA or the specialists how your child suffers other than you because you are with them every day. A parents statement can be so powerful at times so dont under estimate your application. Good Luck xx

Cody4 · 23/02/2023 18:52

I rang yesterday morning, told it was with case manager 2 days ago so been with them 4 days and still not heard anything for COC 23 weeks tomorrow

Pooplife · 23/02/2023 21:21

Hi,

After some advice my daughter currently receives middle rate dla (she’s 4) I followed this forum religiously whilst waiting for the first decisions, and I’m doing the same again with this we got the forms in November to apply for mobility scan date 23/11, so I know I’m looking at April/May before a decision as they won’t award until she’s 5 anyway for mobility, but my question is has anyone received mobility for bowel issues? She has surgery every 6 months and is possibly having an ACE button when she’s 6/7 depending on how she goes with her condition. And I suppose I’m a little nervous because it’s going down as COC and they said they will look at the whole claim again and I don’t want them to revoke the middle rate as myself her surgeon and GP all believe middle rate is fitting for her condition and her needs, but you never know who’s actually looking at the form do you… aswell as her bowel condition she also has one kidney that doesn’t function properly and is smaller than the other so this puts her at risk of UTIs and isn’t allowed to take certain medications, so most times when she catches what would be a small bug for most children we end up on the children’s ward as we can’t get her temp down with calpol alone and she isn’t allowed to take ibuprofen.

But yes has anyone ever or heard of any positive stories with receiving mobility at any rate for this?

Lodol · 23/02/2023 22:09

Hi everyone, I am wondering what information you sent? All I have is a letter from the senco as awaiting a consultant appointment, worrying I haven’t sent enough but my GP rejected and said they will only provide info if they ask

Jackiesand · 23/02/2023 22:26

Hi can I just say it’s not the diagnosis it’s the care the child needs all I sent in was my child’s ECHP and his my plan he hasn’t been diagnosed with anything at the moment but he needs help to wipe himself after going to the toilet he struggles with cleaning his teeth and he can’t use a knife or fork he do have sensory issues he don’t like certain types of clothing and he don’t like anyone touching his head. My son got awarded Middle rate care which I’m so pleased about.

Supermom92 · 24/02/2023 01:59
