A new thread for those waiting on DLA claims as the other one was rather full. @girlmum25

I must admit, after reading the different things everyone has sent in, I'm worried that DS's claim will be turned down because there's not enough evidence.

I sent in the form with additional sheets, and a copy of his first paediatric assessment report when the referral process started- that was last November, and we've finally got a second appointment this coming November. We've only had an initial intro appointment with Speech Therapy (his appointments start next week) and we've still heard nothing from Educational Psychology despite my chasing it up.

He's 3 next month, so no supporting school report. Referred to Flying Start nursery over a year ago, and we've still heard nothing. The GP won't be much help either because we only contact the surgery to get more lactulose for him.

I worry my boy is going to lose out on his award because our local services can't pull their finger out of their behinds.

Oilytoe90 · 27/09/2022 17:04

Honestly I sent nothing in because I had nothing to send in. They rang his doctor and the school and we been awarded hrc and lrm, decision was made yesterday x

This gives me hope I sent a lot of evidence from consultant, community nurse and report from school and health plan so fingers crossed that’s enough x

Oilytoe90 · 27/09/2022 17:44

The thing is that they go by care needs not diagnosis etc.. and not many people know that x

@Oilytoe90 yes that’s true, my DC has a life threatening condition which means continuous supervision is needed and an adult around that is able to administer life saving medication if needed. My worry is I filled the forms out myself so don’t know if I put enough detail hopefully my wait will be over soon x

sjf19811 · 27/09/2022 17:58

I used a place called quids for kids they helped me do the forms

HeathenPlayingHouse · 27/09/2022 18:07

I filled in the forms myself, but I used the guidance from Cerebra- not sure if anyone had success using that as a guide?

inigomontoyahwillcox · 27/09/2022 18:12

Sent off for my daughter a couple of weeks ago (ADHD combined and chronic motor tics) - little but gobsmacked about how long it's taking people to hear back. Sent off the diagnosis letters for both conditions, hoping it's enough evidence.

Just want to check, the correct address for the forms is:

Freepost DWP DLA Child?

Seems a bit short!

kateof2 · 27/09/2022 18:13

I'm worried they'll see my sons behaviour as a choice because it's social and emotional we are applying for

Lau20x · 27/09/2022 18:40

My little one has just turned 3. She doesn’t have a diagnosis but is under paediatrics and is waiting to go to asd forum. I just sent in her enhanced play report and a letter of her paeds dr. Flying start also gave a report on her behaviours when she was with them. We got awarded MRC but I’m happy with that it’s what I expected she would get x

mumofboyz2 · 27/09/2022 18:46

Hi been reading the posts on here and really can’t believe how long it’s taking some people to get a decision! I’m on week 12 now (scan date 5th July). Originally got a letter saying a decision should be made within 8 weeks, then when I called just over a week ago was told it’s taking in excess of 12 weeks. Just wondered if anyone else has a scan date on or around 5th July and if you’ve heard back yet? I can’t face calling again and sitting on hold for an hour 😒

Sprince87 · 27/09/2022 18:52

First Post. My sons scab date was 28th June. Was on hold 70 mins today! Was told that today they have just started the 28th, so his application should be sent to the DM tomorrow. He said it can then be either a few days or 2 weeks, depending if they need to speak to others etc. So still could have a few more weeks wait!

So worried he won't get it 😢

Sprince87 · 27/09/2022 18:52
  • scan! Not scab!
8484859696A · 27/09/2022 18:53

@mumofboyz2 I’m 27th of June and haven’t heard anything but on average from what I have seen it’s taking around 14 weeks. I rang at the 12 week mark and was told end of September/beginning of October before I can expect a decision. I haven’t called again because My thoughts are, calling doesn’t speed up the process, unfortunately. I may ring at the end of next week if I haven’t heard anything. Also once it’s with a decision maker they have to verify all evidence and claims put on the form so depending on how responsive your gp/pead consultant and school are can all effect how long it takes for the decision to be made l x

candm777 · 27/09/2022 18:54

Hi, I have scan date 23rd June and after phoning today they still said it’s with the dm so hopefully hear something soon x

mumofboyz2 · 27/09/2022 18:59

ok so should prob expect to wait at least a couple more weeks yet then for a decision. I agree with you about calling, I don’t think it will make things move any quicker and will personally just make me feel more stressed. I totally understand why people do call them regularly though the waiting with no information is awful

mumofboyz2 · 27/09/2022 19:06

Fingers crossed the wait is nearly over for you x

Gcmum11 · 27/09/2022 19:30

Thanks 😊

Gcmum11 · 27/09/2022 19:33

So I called about this because I have anted to send it recorded and the woman on the phone actually said no that's not the address ! I thought surely that can't be true because it's on the gov site !

HeathenPlayingHouse · 27/09/2022 19:44

@Gcmum11 I was told when I asked that it's because Recorded Delivery can't be used with a freepost address, so they have to give a different one for that.

Jo197 · 27/09/2022 19:47

I phoned today was on hold for an hour I was told they are working on dates up to the 28th of June my scan date was the 28th was told should be done by the end of the week so fingers crossed

2under2and1more · 27/09/2022 20:03

I find it so strange that tell people they’re working on different dates. I applied and it was scanned 12th of July, 27th July received a decision of a no. Did a MR the same day and received back pay and a decision last Tuesday (20th sep) for one of my children but still waiting on my other. Been with the DM over a week and was told ‘they’re working on your date so it’ll be really quick’

8484859696A · 27/09/2022 20:09

@2under2and1more it might be different dates depending on if you are in England, Scotland or Ireland?
