Jodeeplus4 · 17/10/2022 20:48

Mumof3premies · 17/10/2022 20:57

Kmcx93

my son was born 13 weeks early, he has a grade 2 bleed on his brain, he has kidney disease with complete duplex kidneys, kidney stones, severe constipation caused from NEC when he was small, he’s had sepsis 7 times, group b strep 4 times, he is immunocompromised and is under
urology,
nephrology
gastro
dietitians
general paediatrics
audiology
orthopaedics
he has outreach coming out weekly for bloods and kidney functions

he is also under specialists for development issues because he still can’t stand unaided, he doesn’t talk, he can’t hear and we are in and out of hospital daily sometimes due to him being sick blood and having blood in his stool constantly!
hes had surgery 3 times to and has a stent in his kidney so he can wee
honestly it’s been a nightmare year and a half, I sent all of the evidence from all of his specialists to

RedfoxE · 17/10/2022 21:45

I sent pediatrician report, audiology report, statment from nursery, individual education plan and SEND support plan.

Bunnysarah · 18/10/2022 02:53

@Mumof3premies im still awaiting a decision but feel that i too will be awarded for 12 months, i actually didnt know they could award for such short period? My son is 13 months. He has kabuki syndrome, he too is under alot of specialists.
Do you just need to apply again in 12 months?

Pollyley · 18/10/2022 09:07

Nothing @Ogb maybe over the next week 🤞

Cass29 · 18/10/2022 09:25

Cass29 · 18/10/2022 09:30

Jhtm · 18/10/2022 10:31

Just got a text saying my daughter qualifies for DLA I am shocked but so happy this will help her so much I don’t know rates or anything like that but what ever she gets I’m happy with l, scan date 18th July

Jhtm · 18/10/2022 10:44

If my daughter is awarded the low rate would I get extra universal credits or will that stay the same? Thanks

SPAG123 · 18/10/2022 10:58

Hello ,

My scan date is 13th July first time claim. I phoned Last Monday to give more evidence and I was told to phone back this week for an update. I.have not as yet , anyone with the same date as me been awarded or had an update. Thanks for your time .

Pollyley · 18/10/2022 11:01

@Jhtm I think it's middle rate care that entitled the increased UC.

Jhtm · 18/10/2022 11:03

Ok thank you I’m ringing now to see what rate she has been awarded

Mkd1322 · 18/10/2022 11:18

@Cass29 i rang yesterday and its still in a holding ques for a decision maker. The woman i spoke to was pretty rude to be honest. She said i had called a few times and that i would get a letter 😐. I needed to give some more info aswel.xx

Jhtm · 18/10/2022 11:25

Omg she got high rate care for 2 years I’m so happy

Mamofasd · 18/10/2022 11:28

I have some hope then I'm also 18th July scan date

So glad you finally got your decision for your DD!!

The lady I spoke to this morning made me more confused than ever… She wouldn’t tell me whether my DD’s was with a DM or not, then checked they had the right contact details etc… Been 13 weeks now x

Kits45 · 18/10/2022 11:34

Jhtm · 18/10/2022 11:25

Omg she got high rate care for 2 years I’m so happy

Jhtm · 18/10/2022 11:54

Thank you every one I am so happy, I do not get paid for Mia as she is my 3rd child so just thought would I get disability element for her on universal credits?

Jhtm · 18/10/2022 12:00

And I hope the rest of you get answers soon x

Mamofasd · 18/10/2022 12:03

Congrats on your award I'm also 18th July I got told a decision by end of October, but you have provided me with a bit of hope it could be sooner, it's such a worrying time feels like I've been waiting forever

dandymum · 18/10/2022 12:19

@Jhtm you will be able to get the higher disability on UC and carers but will need to upload the evidence etc onto your journal. Congrats

@Mumof3premies gosh so sorry to hear he going through all of that at such a young age.
my son was born 11 weeks early, had bilateral IVH(brain bleeds) ecoli meningitis and sepsis. He developed hydrocephalus and now had a vp shunt to drain the spinal fluid.
he has global developmental delay and is only just learning to roll. He can sit in aided though which is fantastic.

he has
neonatal
neurosurgery
respiratory
physio (4 sub-types so x4 different therapists)
opthalmology
dietician
Dysphagia team(swallow)
community paediatrics
portage
early support

so I completely get your nightmare.
i am so so worried that they will just say that due to his age we would have to give an element of care and help any way because all children under 3 need extra support. But it is so tiring sometimes everything I have to do for him.
map really on edge that he will be refused based on age. I would definitely say with your sons needs they won’t refused that as it is a high level of care needed. Both day and night.
fingers crossed for both of our children hey!

Scaredtobeth · 18/10/2022 13:10

just gave them a ring, scan date was 20th July, she said to ring at the start of November and I should have a decision in the next two weeks.

it’s killing me how long it’s taking 😮‍💨

Cass29 · 18/10/2022 13:34

@Mkd1322 oh wow this is why i dont like to call them. I did ring once 2 weeks ago when it hit 16 weeks because i got no letter to say received so never knew my actual scan date and tbh the lady was nice but said its not been looked at yet you are looking at weeks yet . Ive never really seen the outcomes on these threads for a coc to sort of judge what the actual waiting times are because they say 20 weeks x
