A new thread for those waiting on DLA claims as the other one was rather full. @girlmum25

Has anyone heard anything today just wondering x

HeathenPlayingHouse · 13/10/2022 16:37

Apologies for slightly off topic but incredibly annoying- I wanted to send more info with DS's application but he's been waiting for nearly a year for contact with Educational Psychology, Portage and Flying Start.

We've been calling for months and finally found out today they lost our consent form that was sent last year and never bothered to send us a new one!

He could have had his diagnosis months ago and we could have sent in so much more evidence to back up his claim. Fingers crossed that what we put on the form was enough 🤞

Cass29 · 13/10/2022 17:35

@alwaysonthegomum no still nothing for me x

GemNE · 13/10/2022 17:49

Still not heard anything, scan date 5th July, I know it's with the DM...

Jhtm · 13/10/2022 18:23

Anybody from around the 18th July been awarded so worried about my daughters as she’s only 2 so think they will use her age against her, but she is completely non verbal, doesn’t respond to her name or instructions no communication skills at all been referred to speech and language and community paediatrics as health visitor believes she is autistic

My son is exactly the same Jhtm, my scan date is the 25th July and the closer its getting the more worried I am!

Natalien90 · 13/10/2022 19:06

Hi first time commenting currently waiting to here back on my sons claim date stamped on form is 8th July date they received 13th August (I waited for paedatrician diagnosis letter until sending forms in) so checking if anyone from around the same time had heard anything yet? I am panicking now (I have sent around 60 pages of evidence so hoping it doesn't slow it down 🙈) I also get child tax credits if my son qualifies for DLA and we get higher tax credits what is the extra amount and also does it get back dated from date on forms like DLA payments? Thanks so much 😊😊

sadiekt21 · 13/10/2022 19:07

I rang today at 4.15pm and was told they are currently working on 11th July x

My son is the same he is 2 years old (30 months) my scan date is the 22nd July he has a diagnosis of autism which I sent with salt assessment and hv form of his development milestone assessment I'm also terrified his age will count against him so fingers crossed for us both.

Mamofasd · 13/10/2022 19:58

I'm 14th of July stamp date, claim form needed to be in by 30th June but put I was waiting for evidence to be posted out etc.. my son has autism, I'm getting so nervous now it's getting close I just don't think I have the fight in me for a MR when they say no

I sent in a physio report (he also has hypermobility) and a peaditrician report.

Since sending the claim off my son saw the peaditrician again and I have a report stating that he is delayed in some areas so I'm hoping this report will sway the decision to a yes. Also his nursery wrote down that he needs extra support there.

My son has been turned down for dla twice because of his age, he will be 3 on December. He is nonverbal, getting assessed for autism, has self harming behaviours and doesn't sleep also on medication to help him sleep. They definitely do use age against you they say all children under the age of 3 have the same needs as a child without special needs which is a joke. I'm not going to apply again until after his 3rd birthday. The evidence I have sent then proves he is not like a normal child his age but they really don't care. The stress it causes applying and getting turned down all the times takes it out of you. Good luck tho I hope you get sorted.

Jodeeplus4 · 14/10/2022 08:44

@Janemcconnell18 my cousin has been getting DLA for both her children since they were 2, one diagnosed global development delay, non verbal and the other hearing loss with delay, non verbal. Keep pushing them for it xx

My son has been diagnosed with global development delay and learning difficulties aswell and he was still turned twice 😭 going to apply again after his 3rd birthday and if he doesn't get it then there is something wrong with them. They pick and choose who they give it to xx

Jhtm · 14/10/2022 09:30

After reading these comments I have lost all hope for my daughter I knew being 2 would go against her but now I feel like she has no chance

Kits45 · 14/10/2022 09:45

It's is quite worrying even with an Austism diagnosis I'm not confident at all I will do MR if he is denied as he has recently started a new nursery with SEN staff who believe he should be awarded but I'd already applied before he started so I'll save there assessment and letter for if I have to appeal the decision I think.

RedfoxE · 14/10/2022 10:27

My son will be 3 in December. Diagnosed with global developmental delay, non verbal, possibly on autistic spectrum. He's got 1:1 funding in nursery. I filled in the claim when he was 2 years 6 months, scanned date was 26th July. He was awarded middle rate care on 3rd of October, till December 2024. They do not use the age against you. Just make sure you that you fill in the claim properly and send all the evidence.

4xmum123 · 14/10/2022 10:54

Guys!!!!!! No letter and unsure of rates also no text. But money in bank over night! So deffo awarded. England.
7th july. Good luck everyone x

GemNE · 14/10/2022 11:08

That's brilliant news!
Hope everyone gets good news today. Still waiting here. 5th July

Pollyley · 14/10/2022 12:26

Hello everyone. Still no news here, think il be waiting the full last 2 weeks before I find out if my dc claim will be renewed (anyone here who has renewed previously can advise if it's done any sooner than right up to the end? ). So stressful. I check this thread way too much hoping for answers.

Re ages my child was initially awarded from age 3 for 2 years. Here's hoping we find our something soon it's been a long 16 weeks waiting so far

4xmum123 · 14/10/2022 13:25

Also my son is 2. Nearly 3. Diagnosed with autism last week
