I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

Dh's paternity is a moveable feast thankfully, however I have childcare lined up next week Monday - Wednesday for all 3 (albeit in different settings) so on the due date (ie the coming weekend) would do nicely, thank you!

Am dreading most the idea of him being more than a week late- ds3 was a week late, and that would mean birthing then doing an immediate school run for the toehrs, that Monday is ds3's first day at school full time so i would want to be there. Oh how wonderful my timing is!!!.

Am not havig contractions today but having period pains and achiness, and went out for a good long wak with the family even though it's 6 degrees. Dh not impressed after being off work last night thinking this is it that he ahs to go back tonight and say er no it wasn't. He's desperate to wrest this bubba off me now (traditionally I get very little time bar BF with newborns in our family as DH hogs them LOL)

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 16:33

this is turning into a April thread extension, lol

DH, too, steals my babies i often have caught him 'chatting' to them in the night....

VictorianPASqualor · 24/03/2008 16:35

I have rhubarb crumble for pudding, anyone want to try peachys traditional 'make baby come' food?

Peachy · 24/03/2008 16:37

I'd be having that myself VS, only DH buried the cat next to my rhubarb crop..... and y'know, I just can't fancy it now!!!

Did put the stuff for a proper hot curry on my internet order today though, although as baby could always come before order (is only 6 days until due date itself now!), it ahs to be the dairy and gluten free version or I can't eat it, which is such a faff.

VictorianPASqualor · 24/03/2008 16:39

I tried madras, TWICE.
But then I am being impatient, It's not due for 2 more weeks
Whoever said having cervical LEEP would probably make baby come early lied

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 16:41

i have 2 weeks and 4 days until EDD.

going on other pgs, i reckon i am having her either this sunday (38+2) or a week wednesday. (38+5)

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 16:41

just at myself now!!

Peachy · 24/03/2008 16:45

Well if it was by ds2, baby would have come yesterday- by ds3 it's 7 days after due date. Sor eally and literally any day I guess.

VictorianPASqualor · 24/03/2008 16:49

DD was 5weeks old by now

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 17:07

and a fatty, lol.

I have MW on weds, wonder if she is fully engaged yet?

AnguaVonUberwald · 24/03/2008 18:43

Hey ladies, no news here either. I have been feeling pretty sick the for the last couple of days, though it comes and goes. Other than that, no signs at all of the baby coming.

Of course the baby is so low that I can't walk properly and he seems to pick random nerves to have a go at to make really sure I can't walk most of the time!!

Oh well, only 8 days till they should induce me!!

(I am 40+6)

Hello all. I am 38+3 today with DC2. I have been feeling sick and had lower back pain and period type pain all day. I really want this to be IT. I am so sick of being pregnant. However, seeing as I have another 11 days until due date I think I am being optimistic.

c4it · 24/03/2008 20:21

Alfred Anthony (Freddie) arrived today at 12.49 weighing 9lb 7.

My contractions started at 2 am and the midwife arrived at around 4.30am after some debate as to whether they were going to support me in trying for a home delivery given my previous history of shoulder dystocia. That was really disappointing as I have been discussion this with consultants and midwifes for months.

I stuck to my guns and they decided to support me, however at 10.30 am my bp got dangerously high and my waters still hadn't broken so progress was slow and I decided to agree to go into hospital.

Went in my ambulance (sadly not blue light ) and once my waters had been broken Freddie arrived within an hour. I managed with just my TENS manchine and gas and air after waters had broken.

Was discharged after 3 hours and we are now recovering at home.

Jaysfinished · 24/03/2008 21:11

congratulations to you c4it!

Can afford one more bash at alternative therapy...what should it be acupuncture or reflexology? After that I will accept that he is never coming out.

MerlinsBeard · 25/03/2008 10:31

congratulations c4it

Right, i have postnatal strop on on behalf of Angua. No one else birth until Angua has

merryberry · 25/03/2008 10:58

i vote acupuncture, turtle.
congratulations over here too c4it!
am firmly back to camping out on this thread now the sausage sarnies are out in force. oh yeah, pass the ketchup.

Peachy · 25/03/2008 11:15

Congrats C4it

Angua- you're really going through it aren't you? DS3 was a week late but he amde up for it with an easy birth- sneding those same vibes to you.....

I'm feeling very textbook today- ie after a days fervent cleaning on Sunday, today I feel sick if I eat, and want to sleep all the time. I have however never done textbook before so think my body may just be taking the mick

I may have to go buy a carseat today as mine is buried and only DH can access it, which he just complains about doing- MW says has to be ready in case baby needed to go in for a check after birth. REALLY don't want to waste £80 on something we already have though, no matter how inaccessible it may be.

spugs · 25/03/2008 11:26

yay c4it

ive done a birth announcement it shoul be here

baby ismay doing really well, not quite sure how much mumsnet time ill be having in the future though!

Prisci · 25/03/2008 13:00

Congrat c4it, and well done 9LB+ and only tens and gas and air! whaou.

Here still all the same, just a few more BH at night and LO is still very active indeed but he is now fully engaged. I am 40+1 day now by my first EDD and 39+2 by the second, so when when .

I don't think I can eat any more pineapple or drink any raspberry tea, and sex is difficult as DP is trying to get as much work done before LO comes out, thus working late and I am completely dead by the time he comes home grr...

Mumofmonsters, I AGREE, no one can have their baby now until mine comes along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you hear me? NO ONE!!! (Angua cackles madly and tries to work out how to enforce it! hmmmm)

Peachy, thank, am really struggling with this.

7 days till induction!!!

Seeing Doctor today and then having sweep on Thursday, but can't bring myself to believe its going to make any difference.

Really had a moment today when I thought DH and I will look back on this as one of the happiest times in our lives, all that hope and wonder and expectation around having our baby...

And then went back to being fedup as baby isn't here yet!

Even women from my ante natal class who were due after me have had their babies (well one woman) That is soooo not fair!
