I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

Well done all of you having babies! TheMaskedPoster from due april thread ahd hers today, looks like people are finally popping! Yay!

littleducks · 25/03/2008 17:04

hi everyone, also decided that my baby is never coming and am becoming quite depressed in agony from acid indigestion and baby movements but no contractions.

hate dh with a passion atm, all he does is shout atm and i have had enough, he was stupid enough to say that i 'wasnt the only woman ever to have had another baby' today, i dont think that i will be nice to him anymore.

i keep crying partly hormonal and partly pain, i coped with the sickness at the beginning of the pregnancy i cant do it again!

turtle23 · 25/03/2008 17:10

Sympathy, hugs and chocolate to all who are in pain beit emotional or physical and congrats to those who've made it out of here! I am beginning to worry about what the average weight of babies from march is...gulp. I know I shouldn't even think this, but am reaaaaally crampy....

turtle23 · 25/03/2008 20:16

oh please let this be it...owwww

merryberry · 25/03/2008 21:04

AnguaVonUberwald · 25/03/2008 21:10

Oooo Turtle, is this it? Good luck with it all.

Spoke to the hospital today and when I go in for the sweep on Thursday, they will book the induction!!

Great, I can now get stressed about that!

It is great to see that after a month of this thread, we are gradually seeing some babies arriving here. However is lulumama is right and this is the big babies thread, then I want out right now..... ouch!

I seem to have gone a little quiet on the contractions front, nice relief from them, but hope real productive ones start from tomorrow.

turtle23 · 25/03/2008 21:21

2 hours of every 4-5 mins...fine with tens on...

turtle23 · 25/03/2008 21:25

hoping this baby comes tomorrow as i haven't got DH a birthday present and it's his b'day. How do you wrap a baby?

Lulumama · 25/03/2008 21:36

oooooooooohhhhhhhhhh !

get one of those sticky bows, and has baby crowns, stick it on the top of its head .. ta daaaa!

turtle23 · 26/03/2008 05:37

Well, after 5 hours of every 4-5 minutes with some properly toe-curling cx, it all slowed down. By midnight it had died down enough for me to abandon the tens and get some sleep, only got woken up twice and now after am up properly and wondering what to do. Do I walk? Bounce? Sit pressing on pressure points? This madness cant go on! it doesn't hurt as much now, just gently contracting.

fryalot · 26/03/2008 08:20

well, a couple less bacon butties to make today - well done spugs and jammi.

for the rest of you - I'll put some special chilli tomato sauce on your bacon butties - see if that will get things moving for you

AnguaVonUberwald · 26/03/2008 09:20

Turtle - sending you so much sympathy, this is exactly what I have been through with the bump and it drives you mad. Thinking its coming and then it doesn't.

Best of luck for today.

I am now just waiting for the sweep tommorow, though my doctor was very dismissive about it yesterday.

Then they will give me a date for the induction!

i fancy cheese and crackers this morning..
turtle, just let the gentle contractions wash over yuo, yuo;ll know when you need to pay attention

angua, sweep tomorrow.. that has come round quick

AnguaVonUberwald · 26/03/2008 09:57

Lulumama, I'm afraid it all feels like it has come around really slowly to me!!!

How affective are sweeps? Do they tend to work? My doctor yesterday was very dismissive about the whole thing.

Hello Angua, I posted right at the beginning of this thread and like you are still here!!

I have had 5 weeks now of contractions and am getting severely fed up. Generally they are painful enough to keep me awake, and so I am exhausted the next day. My midwife wants to do a sweep today, but I am resisting (I think it seems too painful, and I am a wuss).

AnguaVonUberwald · 26/03/2008 10:13

Pollyanna, can't belive we are both still here!

I have also now had weeks of contractions, feeling sick, cramping etc.

In fact two weeks ago, I phoned the hospital and said: I'm in labour I'm coming in! And then it all stopped, and since then its been off and on again but never anything really proper!

Feeling very sick today!!! Midwife said, could be a sign body is getting ready. Well so could everthing else over the last few weeks, it just doesn't actually happen!

(sorry, rant over)

OP posts:
Pollyanna · 26/03/2008 10:18

are you overdue now Angua?

I have had diarrhea sometimes which together with the contractions have made me think that everything is imminent, but no, it then all stops.

I was kept in at 35 weeks as I was contracting, but then they stopped! I really hope that all of this preparation means that the baby slips out unnoticed .

Rant away, I understand how you feel! My dh is convinced nothing will happen to me until next week as all of mine have come at or after 41 weeks, grrr.

Lulumama · 26/03/2008 10:21

angua, if you are 41 weeks + there is more chnace of it working... if it is going to work, it will do so within 24- 48 hours

AnguaVonUberwald · 26/03/2008 10:27

I am now 41+1 and the sweep is tommorow, so hopefully (thank you lulumama), some chance of it working.

DH is taking the day off to take me, and stay with me and then a friend is coming round on friday, so will have an eye kept on me!

Really would prefer not to be induced, the thought is scaring me, plus I know that there is not enough staff on the maternity ward (where you wait to go into labour), so find that quite scary too!

Pollyanna, how far along are you now?

OP posts:
AtheneNoctua · 26/03/2008 10:44

Oh, Angua! You are pregnant!!!

Good luck.

Being overdue sucks. I remember it well. But, cute little babies are always worth it.

ChocolateRockingHorse · 26/03/2008 10:45

Good GOD this thread was started on 25th February!!!

Sorry. That wasn't helpful was it.

turtle23 · 26/03/2008 11:19

Midwife just left...3 cm and contracting like mad...this is the best pain ever. Angua, I really hope you're next. x
