I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

Morning all, today is both my due date and the day I was kindly given here. So...thought I'd stop in for a bacon sandwich while I wait...

camillathechicken · 23/03/2008 08:43

so, how did everyone sleep?

turtle23 · 23/03/2008 09:44

(is wondering if it is physically possible to sweep yourself..)
I slept well, thanks...any tea left?

merryberry · 23/03/2008 10:18

happy due date Turtle, may progress sweep your way

HolidaysQueen · 23/03/2008 10:26

Turtle - I was wondering the same thing, but pretty sure I wouldn't get past my bump even if I tried

I slept rubbishly. I was very uncomfortable and it was much more difficult than normal moving around in bed so I drifted in and out of sleep a lot. I had a lot of BH last night - I say BH because they weren't painful at all, but they were reasonably regular (I think - difficult to tell when in that sort of half awake/half asleep state) and I haven't had BH lying down before so I guess that's some sort of progress. But everything has stopped again since I got up.

Today would be ideal for this baby to arrive otherwise he needs to wait until at least Weds but I think he could be hanging out for tomorrow (our first wedding anniversary) or Tuesday (DH's nan's funeral) just to be contrary. DH thinks he's going to be another two weeks yet. Sigh...

fryalot · 23/03/2008 11:57

Angua - you know what's on Sky1 tonight at 6, don't you? You are practically guaranteed go go into labour today so you miss it

lulu- im officically due on wed but my dates suggested 21st, however dd was 5 days overdue (with the clear flacky skin when she was born) so im not to excited

cervix was squishy and tight when i tried to get a starting point but it def is different now and could insert two fingers but not placing too much emphasis on it as without any contractions at all i dont think its much of a sign.

I really want to go for a long walk as even if it didnt kick of labour im sure it would shift baby to bit more comfy position but dh is being a wimp about the snow!

turtle23 · 23/03/2008 17:32

either baby has headed back north or my fingers have gotten shorter. Was going to check cervix but can't reach it now!

VictorianPASqualor · 23/03/2008 18:10

Mne has to go on hold, I can#t possibly have it in the next few days until this sickness stops.
I have been like the girl from the exorcist this afternoon!

AnguaVonUberwald · 23/03/2008 18:25

Mumofmonsters, I was due on the 18th of March, now 5 days over and counting. I have spend today sick, hungry or in pain. They seem to be taking turns.

No actual signs that the baby is coming, I am now trying to think, well in 9 days they will be talking about induction, as I really am finding it tough thinking; it could be today, everyday and then it isn't!

Spugs, I tend not to watch the Sky diskworld stuff on TV, as I enjoy the books so much, damn, should have watched it, and then i would have gone into labour!!

Best of luck to everyone waiting, I just wish my lovely baby would get a bit of a move on and stop torturing me!

I have had yet more useless contractions most of today. Have needed tens machine on most of day, with some times it being on maximum and getting me temporarily excited that it might be going somewhere, only to reduce again a couple of hours later.... arrgggg. Pain without gain is not fun.

Sympathy and plenty of chocolate for everyone here (including our long-suffering patient doulas with us!)

Happy Easter.

camillathechicken · 23/03/2008 20:09

ok ladies, here is the drill

at 8.30 you run a bath, light some candles and ensure that you will not be disturbed.

you spend 30 minutes at least in the dark,in the quiet, letting the water wash over you, washing away all the negativity and all the stresses...

spend a few minutes talking to and connecting with your babies. in a few days, you will be holding your newborns and missing that glorious big bump.

then, when you are feeling connected, visualise your labour, your baby moving down smoothly, your cervix opening like a budding bloom, and your body opening up to give birth

then take a moment to just do nothing

and just breathe

then out you get, wrapped up in a fluffy towel and take to your bed with an easter egg

have some hot lovin' if you feel up to it bet you all thought i had tripped out on the hippy vibe and was not going to tell you to get on with teh sex and nipple stim

off you go.......

Peachy · 23/03/2008 20:41

RD have ahd exactly the same thing- had a huge urge to clran clean clean all day, not something that would normally ocur to me; then started getting contractions whilst making dinner. Took some paracetamol when i couldn't stand through them, they still got more intense. Dh went up to set up a DVD player in boys room in case they needed distracting; I leaned on the birth ball for a while and ended up putting to TENs as it hurt- then it all just stopped.

Have had a bit of erm hot loving LOL with dh to see if that makes any difference. DH trying to amke me walk about to re=trigger (as he'd already told work not coming in) but i'm just shattered now .

camillathechicken · 23/03/2008 20:42

well done on the hot lovin'!

have a rest, it might well start again when you feel rested . and if not, you will get a good kip , which is just what you need x

fitnfortyone · 23/03/2008 20:55

hang in there ladies, it'll all be worth it in the end

No cramping or anything, but feels very odd. He is veeeeery low and now if I gyrate my hips around he seems to stick out straight and not move...it's too weird to look at but can't stop!

Prisci · 24/03/2008 13:00

Due date today but no signs of any movements...got some hope last night, since I had some cramping similar to period pain but nothing....going to see the Obstetrician in an hour, hope he can tell me more apart from the fact that I have put more weight indeed..

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 16:01

lol camilla, will do that tonight!

Though i am hoping to wait until at least next saturday is over; would love one last weekend day with DH.

HolidaysQueen · 24/03/2008 16:09

Very little to report here as well. Baby is definitely even further into my pelvis, and the piles which I thought I had conquered have returned with a vengeance. Ow, ow, ow!

Walks, spicy food, bouncing on balls, sex: nothing is working. Like prisci, the most I am having is some period like pains alongside the usual BH in the middle of the night but it never lasts through to the morning.

Clearly the baby wants a nice spring day to be born rather than the sleet and snow we've had this weekend. Maybe he just plans on being on time - he's still not due for another 3 days, so I can't complain too much at the moment. Plus it means we should get our wedding anniversary dinner in tonight which will be fab (having lovely chilled out day with DH so far involving walks, trifle and DVD box set of 24 )

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 16:10

My BH are getting stronger every day though, and i see mto have a run of them fro about an hour each night now. DH gets very excited...

VictorianPASqualor · 24/03/2008 16:25

Well, DP's first week of paternity leave starts next monday so as the bank holiday weekend is over bump has to stay indoors for a little while longer.

I'm consoling myself with the fact that if I get really fed up I can just book in for a CS

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 16:26
