I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

well, at least she won't be able to say her poem if she's busy doing that

fryalot · 08/03/2008 10:04

jaysthird, nooooooooo!!!!!! we need to know every little twinge so we can vicariously labour with you

T2M · 08/03/2008 10:11

Fingers crossed Jays3 sending the birth fairy to wave her magic wand. With you in thought and getting knitting out as we speak

AnguaVonUberwald · 08/03/2008 10:15

I am with Jaybirdsthird, its all stopped again!!!!!!!!!!!

I know I am only 38+4, but this whole thing of thinking the baby is coming and then it all stops is driving me insane!!!

I tell you, at 40+1 I will be at the accupuncture clinic begging for an appointment!

T2M, I thought that was just a rumour started by men?

LOL at Merryberry!

I'm taking holistic advice and writing some stern letters to the baby and the universe then burning over pink tea lights. Usually gets results, cosmic ordering kind of thing.

Bit easier to manage than sex or swallowing

Anyone for French Toast? Not a euphemism btw, just eggy bread

turtle23 · 08/03/2008 11:58

FnF- oh...me please...yummy. Most go and get some white bread and make some. oooooh.

VictorianSqualor · 08/03/2008 12:03

Anotehr baby ahs arrived, just not from ehre.
A lady on mine and peachys antenatal thread had a little boy yesterday at 34+5 weighing 5lb 8(?)ozs.

3madboys · 08/03/2008 12:28

well despite the accupuncture and sex things have again ground to a halt its really soddin annoying and i have had the hospital on the phone to me trying to book me in for induction despite the fact that i had already said NO THANKS, will be going in for some monitering on monday morning, we are at the hospital that day anyway for ds1 (ENT APP) there is only an hour inbetween appointments, so regardless of whether antenatal are done with me i shall have to leave to take ds1 to his appointment

and with regards to the swallowing thing, is that strictly true, surely you would have to swallow quite a bit (ie more than once) to get a significant amount into your blood stream?)

VictorianSqualor · 08/03/2008 12:37

BouncingTurtle swallowed, in a yoghurt, I think she ahd the baby not long afterwards as well.
Apparently it is absorbed better through the gut, but I don't know how true it is.

3madboys · 08/03/2008 12:42

swallowd it in yogurt? the mind boggles, i think i would just get on with it the regular way it may be the last treat dp gets for a while...

merryberry · 09/03/2008 03:23

EVEN WORSE DOGGEREL WARNING
(with apologies to the scarlet pimpernel)

she seeks him here
she seeks him there
this mumma seeks him everywhere
is she in labour or is it a poo?
that demned, elusive, DS2

sigh

Lulumama · 09/03/2008 09:03

i am impressed !!

spugs · 09/03/2008 12:59

are you talking about swallowing what i think you are! lovely

been using space hopper as a birthing ball to bounce on, not doing anything though.

T2M · 09/03/2008 13:20

Love your poetry Merry

yoghurt anybody, sorry couldn't resist. I'll behave myself and get back to my knitting

AnguaVonUberwald · 09/03/2008 14:30

Nothing here at all, hideously uncomfortable today, standing, sitting, walking, it all feels really horrible!

Unlike merryberry, I don't have a turn for poetry, but may have to try some yogurt!!!!

sooooo, any babies??

merryberry · 09/03/2008 22:48

nope. lots of convincing contractions the last hour or so. but been here before. have had to get up to deal with the aches this time though. may time them if being up doesn't knock stone deaed...

merryberry · 10/03/2008 04:32

ow ow ow ow. breeeeeathe. no precipitate labour over here mind you... long slow night of dozing between contractions. frequency slowly going down from 10 minutes to seven.

wouldn't be suprised if they stop after 12 or so hours as other nights have done. but do have very cervix focal pain this time, had an odd pop before midnight and think i have a small forewaters leak.

haven't called MW tho, happier on my own, TBH.

delcymru · 10/03/2008 04:38

I'm feeling for you merry. I can't sleep, having twinges that I don't think are anything as I've been having them for a couple of days.Try and get some rest now if you can, but fingers crossed that the contractions keep on coming.

Lulumama · 10/03/2008 08:06

sounds hopefule merry!

don;t forget to brrrreaaaaaaaaathe!

merryberry · 10/03/2008 08:29

its amazingly painful if i try to lie on side thru a contraction. just a bit oooooh if i'm sitting or standing.

Lulumama · 10/03/2008 08:38

then stand up

rest if you can, eat , drink, wee and go to the loo as you need to...

merryberry · 10/03/2008 08:55

oh yes absolutely. was just a trial last night trying to a) keep the house quiet and b) get some rest (sat bolt upright in bed worked OK in end).

and joy of joys, just had my first bit of streaky bloody show. not much. lost whole mucos plug over a week ago. i really think i may get this home birth attempt rather than weds induction at this rate.

woohoo.

everyone out of house at present. bloody gorgeous this level of peace and quiet.

Lulumama · 10/03/2008 08:57

bloody show is good !! bloody means dilation

go with it !!

if that baby is not here by this time tomorrow, am coming over to have serious words!

fryalot · 10/03/2008 08:59

ooh, merry, it's happening, it's happening

probably
