In hospital being induced. Please help ASAP!

Please help.
I've will have had the propess tampon thing in for 30 hours at 1am.
I've had midwives examining left right and centre. It's fallen out onto the bed with a load of mucus and put back in.
I've had them do a spectrum(?) to see what was happening, torches and all, and have taken a swab to see if it was waters or not (they don't think it is) and am waiting for the result to come back.
I am not dilated. My cervix is tucked right around to one side. Apparently it's started to soften.
A doctor will come at 1am to take it out and examine me again.
I am so, so sore, I don't think I can keep on having these examinations. Each time they've done one, it's been more painful than the last (and a midwife told me this would be the case).
They've said the doctor will give me my options when he examines me, but I don't know what they are.
What is the next step?
What can I refuse/request?

Why are you being induced? Health issue or just overdue?

Those tampon things hurt, you poor thing. :(

Personally, I think if there has been no change in all that time, I would ask for a c-section and refuse any more pessaries. It did eventually work in softening for me, but I was about to refuse any more as it got so painful.

Do you have someone with you? I would call the midwife or nurse and have a list of questions ready.

I'm sure that nct had a list of questions to help. What do you propose? How urgent is it? What happens if I don't? Hopefully someone will be along who can help better and that has experienced induction.

You can ask them to hold off on the exams. At least for a bit.

Of course you can refuse. I had an induced labour with my first dd and it was incredibly traumatic mainly due to the internals as you've been finding. With hindsight I wished I'd said no and asked to go straight for a c section (for this reason I had an elective c section with my second baby 2 years ago - 10 years after dd - and it was great).

Tell them you are finding the internals excruciating and you cannot continue and ask what they are going to do.

If you are having the induction just because you are a bit overdue you may be able to just go home and wait a few more days. If it is for medical reasons or you are feeling particularly distressed I would ask for a section.

Ask for your Bishops Score. It is the medical score for how favourable your cervix is. If its 6 or below then all stats suggest this inducti

You poor thing. 30 hours and no progress - you are surely justified in asking them for a C-section. How would you feel about that?

Oh honey, that doesn't sound nice.

Tell them that it hurts, that you're getting sore. They can offer you gas and air while they examine you.

You do need to be assertive and ask them to answer your questions before they examine you again.

Everyone responds differently to the pessaries. They didn't work for me. Only the drip got labour going.

When they come round ask them what your options are, if you can have a break from it etc if not ask for gas and air when there examining you it helps a little good luck

I had one when I was induced for twins. Nothing happened labour ward got busy so nothing further done I went to bed about 10 pm Woke up at three am in agony thought I was dying contractions every 3 mins 1st baby at six second at 6 mins passed.Sometimes time is what you need.Regarding exams say you are too tired ask them to listen in to baby make sure all is well and go to sleep.

I was the same and the next step with me was to break my waters. I was 2 weeks overdue. However it ended in c section in my case. It is horrible waiting and nothing happening. Keep remembering it will be worth it in the end

Sorry you are having a hard time op ...As others have said why are you being induced ?
I had sweeps , the pessary , then the following morning they broke my waters & still nothing so by 12 noon that day I was put on the hormone drip .
I had my ds at 5.35pm .....30 hours after I had been admitted but I was 42+1 when admitted so maybe It was because I was way overdue .
Please tell them you are in pain & ask for pain relief if you need it !!
It's your labour & birth so don't be scared to ask for what you want at this stage !

I've got my husband with me.
I'm 42 weeks tomorrow. So not medical reasons, am overdue.
They said if I was dilated they could break my waters but I'm not so they can't. I've overheard the midwives handing over to each other saying doc will examine me and probably suggest the gel for 6 hours. I can't take it.
I don't know what's next as midwives keep saying the doctor will assess me then give the options based on the assessment. So that means more examinations.
I don't know what my bishops score is, I'll see if I can find out.
C-section I'm fine with, if it stops all this, although do I ask for the drip and an epidural and try that first? Or will that just end in a c- section anyway?

I second gas-and-air, if you need more examinations. It is amazing stuff, and I was horribly pissed off that they wouldn't let me take some home with me.

If you ask for a c section under nice guidelines they have to do it. Or refer you to a consultant who will (even if they have to send you home). You don't have to have any more internals if you go for a c section - I didn't when I had mine. They can monitor the baby externally and if necessary they can do a scan - especially as there is no medical emergency in your case so there is no panic.

My induction took 67 hours ending in ventouse and episiotomy. My c section took half an hour and a few weeks of feeling a bit sore. I found the recovery better than my vaginal birth. I'd honestly ask for a section.

It's difficult when you're in hospital because you feel like they're in charge and you feel like you can't speak up but it is your body and your baby and you must tell them what you want.

Oh hobby sorry you're going through this. You can refuse examinations- whether you want a break or to stop all together. Tell the doctor you're not willing to go any further without being given a clearer picture and pain relief (if that's what you want). Good luck. You can do this!

Oh you poor bugger, induction is horrible, tell them the exams are getting too painful to take see what they say might give you some pain relief or do less of them. Are you contracting? If not they might hold off on the exam and put you on the drip, I don't know, just wanted to say hang on in there it will be worth it in the end.
My induction took 3 days (contracting through out) and I ended up with a c section any way as never got passed 3cm.
If your happy with a section it might be worth mentioning. Try and get some rest, and remember soon it will all be a distant memory and you'll be snuggling a new born, and you won't care how it was born.

I've been where you are. I had a CS the following day after no progress. I wish I'd pushed for one sooner. It was very very tiring, baby was tired too by the end.

hobby, I had a light epidural where I could feel my legs and it just took the edge off contractions. had to top it up in theatre after he went back to back and stalled, but it was a very good option at first. may be worth asking about.

The machine is telling me I'm having tightenings but they're not regular or frequent, and I can't really feel anything as my groin/lower belly, type area is just in a constant pain from the examinations.
The midwife also said it didn't matter what the machine said and if I can't feel them / they're not hurting then it doesn't really matter what the machine says.
