Did you have any signs leading up to labour 2nd time round and if so what?

OP posts:

KatieChooChoo · 08/02/2014 09:25

Pasta, you are still much more organised than me! Maybe be at weening time you could through start a recipe thread? Id certainly appreciate it. My ds only ate sweet potatoes and pasta !!

Sprite, im hoping that this is the start of things for you. Keep us posted

Madallie, sounds like you're having a right old time, poor you. Please dont let the conflicting measurements confuse or stress or you. Like Sprits said, midwives all get a different measurements, i think its more a guide than accuracy. The fact that they are having you in everyday for checks should be reassuring that your baby is fine, just comfy not wanting to budge !

Ive seriously stopped getting excited with my twinges that seem to be regular now (regular as in each evening). I get them for a few hours then nothing else happens and I get all deflated.

Heres hoping we all have an eventful / joyful weekend. Counting on Sprite and Madellie to announce some happy news by this time tomorrow........!

xx

KatieChooChoo · 08/02/2014 09:26

ps, how do you get the name of the person you want to direct your message in bold? Im so rubbish at this. Ive only realised from this thread what ds, dd, dh and dp means!!!

Madallie · 08/02/2014 12:12

Ha ha! I wondered the same things about the bold. You put the name inside two asterix (not sure of plural spelling).

Yes it is reassuring. All was fine today. Going back to tomorrow, scan in mon then if all is fine just wait for Labour or induction.

I hope one of is has baby news by the end if wk end too.

KatieChooChoo · 08/02/2014 13:34

Is an induction the same as a sweep?

spritesoright · 08/02/2014 15:04

Induction involves pessary, breaking your waters and syntocin (ugh), whereas a sweep I think is just manual stimulation of the cervix, something to do with clearing the membranes but as I said I'm not exactly sure about the mechanics of it.

I'm sure it's the same as your pains Katie and mine will return and subside without necessarily leading to anything.
I drempt I was in labour and had to take DD to the hospital and lost track of her.
I was inspired by your post pastaandcheese and am baking carrot cake but may not get round to all those delicious meals.

Izzyalex · 08/02/2014 17:28

I'm 37+5 and ready but no real symptoms unfortunately except aching back! Got a week of work left anyway!
My daughter is 8yo and can't really remember first time round!

KatieChooChoo · 08/02/2014 19:18

oh Sprite Carrot cake sounds delish... think i may make one on monday if im able to too. Might even follow Pastas inspiration and do a lasagna for dp and ds. If i dont spend time in the kitchen on monday i'll just sit bouncing on the sofa feeling sorry for myself.

Hi Izzy and welcome to the thread. Back ache is a shitter, hang on in there doll. You're on the right thread for support and inspiration.

No update from MrsJK, i wonder if this is a good sign or if im jinking it again for her??

Im trying the spice thing tonight = not holding my breath tho.

PastaandCheese · 08/02/2014 21:07

Ooo! Carrot cake. That sounds good.

I might do some brownies this week as I can freeze some of those for the time when baking is just a nice thought and not a reality!

So uncomfortable today. I feel huge. I swear I never felt this 'full' last time. I'm making that 'urghhh' noise when I get down onto the floor with DD. Blush

MrsJK · 09/02/2014 17:32

I'm getting bored of waiting now Shock please come out little one!

Had a busy weekend of family birthdays and gatherings so well and truly done in tonight. In bath already hoping for a (much needed) early night.

Talk of batch cooking & baking sounds fabulously organised Grin I'm a little over cake from this weekend ( can't quite believe those words just left my mouth Shock)

How is everyone else doing?

KatieChooChoo · 09/02/2014 19:21

MrsJK I feel the same as you, absolutely fed up.
Pasta, ive making them noises for the past 2 weeks, specially when tossing and turning in bed.
Ive quite with trying to predict when this baby is going to make an appearance - so long as its not Thursday 13th (superstitious).

Today my aunty has loaned me her massage chair. OMG, its amazing and just what my broken needs. Bliss.

I shall not jink Sprite but its noted theres no update from her, so i can't help but wonder!!!!!

Good luck.

xx

MrsJK · 09/02/2014 19:33

Massage chair - yes please!!

I have managed to do not a lot this evening which hopefully will stand me in good stead for the week ahead with a lovely toddler Shock

I wish someone would just tell me when it's going to happen - even if it was in 2 weeks time

Evens baths aren't easing my back pain anymore Confused

KatieChooChoo · 09/02/2014 19:56

I tried one of the heat things for your back last weekend, it worked for me.
You hear of some women labouring through their back dont you, so you never MrsJK!!

How did you get them smilies on? Im so rubbish with all this bold / smilie stuff.

spritesoright · 09/02/2014 20:43

Alas, no news here.
I know what you mean MrsJK it's the not knowing that is killing me. On Friday night when I thought it was coming on all I could think was "but I haven't slept yet, and I can't wake MiL in the middle of the night"

I have 4 people on standby to take care of DD but still anxious.
I am 39+3 today. What are others?

DD came at 39 so I was convinced this one would be early but alas.

My moans and groans while shifting are distinctly walrus like, so glam!

On the plus side I managed to get DH to do a big list of DIY in prep for baby so feeling more prepared.
Katie if you scroll down below the message box it tells you how to do all the smileys and such. Very useful.
Happy labour vibes ladies!

PastaandCheese · 09/02/2014 20:56

I had a bad morning. Bad back ache, radiating down my thighs, braxton hicks a plenty and just generally feeling very weak.

Hot water bottle and a snooze whilst DH took DD out helped and I'm back to just uncomfortable and a near constant state of self pity now.

So begins another week of waiting.

spritesoright · 09/02/2014 21:11

So sorry pastaandcheese that sounds miserable.
Hopefully it's either a sign of imminent labour or you feel much better after a good night's sleep.

PastaandCheese · 09/02/2014 22:39

I'm just enjoying a moan. As I remind myself daily I am in a self inflicted state!

I'm finding drinking lots really important this time. I feel so much worse if I don't keep getting fluids in. I read dehydration can set off BHs and this seems to be the case this time around.

spritesoright · 10/02/2014 03:37

My waters have gone! It's 3:30 in the morning. The liquid was all clear and no contractions so I think I will stay put until they start up.
This is how it happened last time and contractions didn't kick off for another 12 hours (and eventually had to be augmented).
So fingers crossed things happen more quickly this time.

PastaandCheese · 10/02/2014 07:00

How exciting sprites. How are you doing now?

Perhaps a walk and some bouncing if contractions haven't started? There's no reason to think augmentation will be necessary again and they were clear which is the first hurdle cleared.

Good luck!

KatieChooChoo · 10/02/2014 07:58

Go Sprite Go Sprite Go Sprite. Exciting news to read first thing. Wishing you lots of luck, minimal pain and a healthy delivery.

Pasta, a good old moan is our prerogative. Wink: Wink

Im 39+5 today (thats right im due Wed?)

xx

KatieChooChoo · 10/02/2014 07:59

Whoooop - check my smiley out haha. Big grin: Grin

PastaandCheese · 10/02/2014 08:20

SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

Madallie · 10/02/2014 08:32

Very exciting sprite. Good luck. Hope everything goes well and your cuddling your little one very soon.

Madallie · 10/02/2014 08:39

On another note, I'm STILL pregnant. 40+4 today. I don't know why but I really didn't think I would go overdue. Silly really, it's not like I'm psychic. Probably more about wishful thinking.

After the mild aches yesterday evening they have gone and again I feel nowhere near to labour which is making me anxious which is probably very counterproductive.

I think I feel so anxious because the doctor said on Friday about my cervix being posterior, non effaced etc. it makes me worry that even if I were induced it wouldn't work and I'd end up with a c section which I really really don't want.

Sorry for the moan. Feeling fed up and anxious.

KatieChooChoo · 10/02/2014 08:48

You're allowed to feel fed up Madallie. Due dates are a guild, 2 weeks either side. I know thats no offer of encouragement when we all feel like frumps, uncomfortable and miserable from lagging our extensive weight about while trying to get other stuff done.
Your labour could surprise you and come on really quickly and be super fast.
Keep your chin up hun xx

Madallie · 10/02/2014 08:57

Thanks for the encouragement. I hope you're right. It's hard when you're thinking about it all day isn't it? Wondering if and when it will start. Luckily I have my toddler 2 keep me somewhat occupied. Ha!

I do have a backache today but feel like that is more just because of the weight I'm carrying rather than impending labour. It aches when I stand but eases when I sit or lay so definitely not one of thosesigns.

Hope you have a good day
