Did you have any signs leading up to labour 2nd time round and if so what?

OP posts:

KatieChooChoo · 04/02/2014 13:28

oh wow, thats chocked me a bit Pastaandcheese. The poor little mite and poor you and your poor dh. I dont even want to imagine how you felt.
I know for sure that your perspective on situations like that changes once you have children, both me my dp have said that. Think its coz we can relate more.

With regards to a clean grow everynight..... theres nothing wrong with that, i did the same, but my ds wears the same vest twice (if clean with no stains).

Back to discharge - ive had some more but its clear / creamy ?? dont recall this one ds. Feeling pressure below again too.

JBurge - hold on in there, not long to go. The next 5cm will be quick and you'll be holding your joyful bundle before Emmerdale comes on.

Now, wheres that glass of wine while i have a bounce on the sofa lol
xx

AFergie · 04/02/2014 13:30

With my second one NOTHING happened until I got my first contraction at 1am and they never stopped until the baby was born !

Those last few weeks are so hard, I feel for you girls, good luck and chin up you are solo nearly there ! xxx

PastaandCheese · 04/02/2014 13:41

The strange thing is we aren't even that close katiechoochoo it's just when the chips are down and all that.

AFergie I'm realising how easy it is the first time without a toddler.

JBurge will be done by dinner and can finish her Prosecco without having to bounce at the same time. jealous

KatieChooChoo · 04/02/2014 14:14

Pastaandcheese, its nice to know that she'll be there for you when you really need her. I used t be really close to my sister up-un-till Oct last year. We fell out over something that could have have dealt with but things escalated to the point where my parents took her side (as per, shes very very close to them). Other actions on both sides took place during a stressful period, I was nursing my gran at the time (we were both very close to our grandparents). She sadly died at the beginning of Dec.
But since Oct we havent spoke, me, my sister or my parents. They only got in touch by sending a letter to my dp that arrived xmas eve which slagged me off. The last paragraph said to remind my ds of them in the future!! They've made no effort with him. But what he doesn't get he doesn't miss.... right?

Good god, sorry about that !!
Really NEED A GLASS OF PROCESSCO NOW lol

PastaandCheese · 04/02/2014 16:02

I think you should have one. That sounds like a dreadful situation to deal with. Perhaps they will mellow a bit when your new baby is born? I do hope so.

spritesoright · 04/02/2014 16:55

Sorry to hear that Katiechoochoo I've noticed that you miss those relationships particularly when you have children as you want someone else to gloat over them as much as you do. Both my mum and sister live abroad (I moved) and I didn't speak to my mum for a while because of her unwillingness (inability) to visit DD.
That's so lovely about your sister pastaandcheese, I can only imagine how you must have felt with your baby in hospital. Awful.
Thanks for the encouragement Afergie, I like to hear about reassuringly fast births the second time round instead of long, drawn out, syntocin enhanced ordeals like my first was. UGh!

KatieChooChoo · 04/02/2014 18:40

Aww thanks guys. The situation will sort itself im sure, but at the moment wounds are too deep and im still angry with them to make the first move. The letter was awful to read, and then theres the text message my mother and sister send my dp prior where they once again slagged me.
Families!!! Luckily i have aunts, uncles and cousins for support.

Back to our impending labours ........ any further developments?

Burge MUST be holding her bundle of joy right now, its been a few hours.

Spritsorght - which country are you from? How long have you lived in the UK and are you North, South, East or West?

Same to you pastaandcheese, which neck of the woods are you from?

Im from not so sunny Stockport, Greater Manchester, where 2 year olds watch the night garden while wearing sun glasses (as my ds is doing right now).

JBurge · 04/02/2014 21:26

Baby Natalie was born at 7pm, natural birth with g&a. Sadly I've torn so badly that I have to have an epidural and go to theatre to be repaired! Gutted about that, but my daughter is worth it. P.S it was quick!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/02/2014 21:27

No. Nothing until my waters went on EDD. Twinges started about 12 hours later and ds2 arrived 5 hours after that.

Good luck to you all!

Thewhingingdefective · 04/02/2014 21:35

I slowed down a lot in the couple of days before and just slept lots. I felt like I was getting a summer cold though, so put my tiredness and feeling rough down to that. I had no real obvious signs labour was imminent. A lot of Braxton Hicks but I was having twins and was huge.

My waters broke at 37 weeks early in the morning and strong contractions kicked in 40 minutes later.

PastaandCheese · 04/02/2014 22:11

Congratulations jburge. That's a lovely name too. ThanksThanksThanksThanks

I'm sorry about your tear. There will be experts in theatre to look after you.

KatieChooChoo · 04/02/2014 22:11

JBurge - Huge congratulations. What a lovely name too. Sorry to hear about the tears, ouch! But like you say your precious dd has arrived safely, just in time for emmerdale as i predicted (although i expect you had other things of more importance to concentrate on).
Wishing you and your family health and happiness and you a speedy recovery.
xxx

Spirtsoright - how are you doing? still having the odd bounce sipping processco ??

xx

spritesoright · 04/02/2014 22:59

Jburge so thrilled for you. Sorry about the tear though but hopefully they will stitch it up well.
Katie I'm Canadian and live in SE England. Recently applied for British citizenship though.
I feel like I'm getting a cold too and just generally exhausted.
I will read it as another sign Wink

PastaandCheese · 04/02/2014 23:27

Everything is a sign.... It's the two week conception wait all over again!

Katie, I forgot to say I'm also from the South East. It's not so sunny here either...!

JBurge · 04/02/2014 23:27

Thanks all! Good luck with your impending labours! Just a tip from me to get things moving quickly, bounce a lot, have sex, drink Prosecco and when labour starts, walk like a maniac! Worked for me xx

KatieChooChoo · 04/02/2014 23:50

Spritsoright and Pastaandcheese - 1 down, 3 to go. The race is on. Get set. Goooooooo !
XX

KatieChooChoo · 05/02/2014 01:04

Would I be tempting fate if I said:
Cant sleep - anxious ??!!
cramping pains - bearable
Back ache - uncomfortable
Feeling pressure below
All 3 at once which is a first for me.

Fingers crossed. Toes crossed.

PastaandCheese · 05/02/2014 08:24

Hot water bottle time I think katie or 'mummy's knitted parcel' as DD calls my hot water bottle.

Hope you got some rest JBurge and get to go home today.

spritesoright · 05/02/2014 10:00

Ooh, Katie. That's very exciting. I am 39 weeks tomorrow which is when DD was born but I'm sure that doesn't mean anything.
'Mummy's knitted parcel' LOL. They come up with the funniest stuff at this age.
Yes, hope you are home resting with your snuggly newborn now Jburge while those stitches heal.

PastaandCheese · 05/02/2014 10:04

I can totally see what she means as it shaped exactly like an Internet shopping bag!

No news from Katie...... Bet she's having her baby now.

I was 3 days late with DD so expect this again except my mum and nan were both 10 days early the second time which gives me a slight sense I could be early this time.

Mind you they both failed to get to the hospital too giving birth in car and bathroom so let's hope genetics plays a limited role this time.

blueberryboybait · 05/02/2014 10:08

With DD2 I had no signs what so everuntil 1 contraction at 2.30am ish on the day before she was due and 38 minutes later she was here! I had been in for observation earlier in the day and they said 'see you in 2 weeks'!

KatieChooChoo · 05/02/2014 12:10

Guys you must be getting as pissed off with me as i am with myself. Period style pains throughout the night with the back ache and pressure feeling. All bearable. Woke this morning to just a few cramps.
BUT i have had a cleaning urge!! So ive dropped the ds at his childminders for the day and got stuck into some fabreeze / detol activities.

Any signs from either of you two Sprite of Pasta? Sprite is you due date the 12th? mine is.
xx

TallRedhead · 05/02/2014 14:26

Congrats JBurge

Nothing here.

I'm getting worried about the quickness of baby #2!

Made plans to meet SIL for coffee & cake tomorrow hoping having plans instead of sitting around will tempt fate Confused

MrsJK · 05/02/2014 15:21

Hi ladies,

Congrats JBurge - I am immensly jealous!

Have been busy trying to entertain a lively toddler for the last few days. Thought something was happening again yesterday / last night but low N behold i am still here and pregnant today (very unimpressed)

I think its the uncertainty that paining me the most and worrying about the speed when it does kick off (same as Redhead!) as DC1 was super quick :)

It will be our turn soon right ladies……anyone have any daring plans to distract themselves?

PastaandCheese · 05/02/2014 15:33

I've got SIL and her DH staying for the weekend so thinking it would be fab if it all kicked off in the night and DH and I could just leave everyone sleeping...... Because life is always just that easy isn't it?!
