In early labour now, what should I do?

I've been up since 1am and cobtractions are a bit sporadic but some very strong. I'm watching tv and mostly resting, having something small to eat and keep drinking and weeing to move around. Trying to stay in the zone I guess.

So any recommendations? Trying to keep occupied but don't want to distract too much as still quite early I reckon.

Good luck jennimoo, hopefully not much longer till you're enjoying cuddles with your new baby Smile

My waters broke as I pushed DS out!
You don't need them to break.... Good luck!

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 16:22

I called the hospital as its hurting so much but I'm so rubbish they persuaded me to stay home :(

DD is coming back shortly, pain is intense and very much in my back.

Oh Jenni! Is baby back to back? You're doing so well if it starts getting too much phone them and say you're really struggling so you either want someone out to see you or you're going in. Or get dh to phone. How far apart now and how long are they lasting?

catinabox · 26/08/2013 16:30

oooooo....exciting!!

:)

Can you take some paracetamol ? Have a hot bath?

catinabox · 26/08/2013 16:34

........oooh i'm getting all teary reading this thread. :)

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 16:35

MW didn't think he was back to back but I don't remember this back pain before...

Not timing as trying to rest really now, but they've slowed down loads unfortunately. I think I need gas and air to be able to get mobile again...

Gosh you poor thing

As others have said waters don't always go I had to have mine broken all three times

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 16:44

MW on phone a while back wanted contractions closer together...

Mumof3xx · 26/08/2013 16:47

I find an argument helps labour lol

SpottyTeacakes · 26/08/2013 17:06

Can you rock on all fours? I know you have spd so I'm not sure what you can do, sorry

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 17:17

Yep, all fours is good, and leaning on ball / bed. I think I was on the g&a before I had this much pain last time...

Going to rest just enough that contractions are still coming and see if I can get to DDs bedtime and then see about getting up and about again and going to the hospital. I'm dreading the journey / walk though...

This happened to me with dc1, it makes me so angry that they do this! If you were 2 - 3 cms when you went in earlier you are very likely to be at least 4cms by now. They have no right to make this decision for you, you need to go in so call or get dh to and tell them you are on your way!

Icedink · 26/08/2013 17:32

Btw I gave birth just over an hour after the mw told me not to go in, they don't always know best!

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 17:34

Thanks for reassurance. Will rest a bit at home then just say in going in. The contractions aren't that close together but I know if I walked about they would be!

Good luck jenni!

Astr0naut · 26/08/2013 18:03

icedink your birth sounds exactly like mine! They told me not to come in and less than 2 hours later dd was born. luckily, she was my second and i knew it'd be fast, so we just went (25 min to hospital). hospital were a bit snotty with me, but I didn't fancy giving birth in a layby!

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 18:16

Unfortunately contractions are slowing and shortening. I'm moving Bout again to try and get them going. Terrified baby had changed his mind again!

jennimoo hang in there. I've been on and off since last Friday. I cant help feeling like i'm getting something wrong when it all grinds to a halt.

You sound much further on than me though.

Get some rest while you can.

I'm sure it won't be long.

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 18:29

I'm on 9 days cat in a box, hope you don't have to wait that long!

OP posts:
catinabox · 26/08/2013 18:37

Thank jennimoo.

Someone said to me they thought that having such drawn out pre labour would mean that the birth is quick. Hope she's right and same for you!

Good luck....

froubylou · 26/08/2013 18:40

Glad I have found this thread again.

Markibg place so I can congratulate you very soon on your new baby.

If you need some pain relief don't be afraid to phone and tell them this.

Good luck and I really hope by morning you have your baby and are enjoying newborn cuddles.

Mumof3xx · 26/08/2013 18:44

Tbh if they kept telling me to stay at home I likely wouldn't phone and would just show up there lol

As someone else said your likely 4 or more by now anyway!
