In early labour now, what should I do?

I've been up since 1am and cobtractions are a bit sporadic but some very strong. I'm watching tv and mostly resting, having something small to eat and keep drinking and weeing to move around. Trying to stay in the zone I guess.

So any recommendations? Trying to keep occupied but don't want to distract too much as still quite early I reckon.

Jenni - I was pretty much bang on time with DS1 but went 9 days over with this one so was booked for induction today at 40+10. But made it in under the wire!!!

I've called and am popping in in a bit when my mum gets here to get checked. Feel more relaxed now. Will probably go into labour again once I've got to the hospital, especially as its such a trek from the car park!

Oh good news Jenni Smile

TeaAndSconesTwice · 19/08/2013 09:31

Good luck Jenni, good idea to get checked over.

jennimoo · 19/08/2013 09:46

Thank you all for messages, it has helped so much, especially being told I had to call ;)

I might be having slight contractions now, probably my imagination though! Don't really trust my instincts any more unfortunately!

Jenni I thought my waters were leaking last week and went in at their advice, they definitely wanted to know if they were or not., it was no problem for them to check. In my case they confirmed it was a type of watery discharge you get when labour is imminent. If it had been waters they would have kept me in. You definitely won't be wasting their time. Hope it goes well at the hospital. x

Update us when you can hope you're ok Smile

jennimoo · 19/08/2013 11:41

All fine but nothing happening. Managed to resist a sweep as everything still pretty tightly closed up.

MW was absolutely fab though and made me feel very relaxed and at ease.

Just got to wait now!

I'm glad you're feeling better Smile Hopefully you can relax a bit now and that will help get things moving

CuriosityCola · 19/08/2013 20:08

Glad things went well. Sorry for being bossy Smile, I just think its always better to speak to someone and get rid of any worries.

I hope you have a good night. I can't get on here much during the day, but will check in when I'm doing my night feeds.

jennimoo · 19/08/2013 20:31

Curiosity - dont be sorry for being bossy! I absolutely needed it!!! I am phone-phobic so the idea of calling up anyone terrifies me (eg calling to make hair appointment or anything!)

I have just about got my head back to feeling like I did the end of last week before all this kicked off. It seems surreal now and like I'm not actually going to have a baby.

How are you feeling this morning?

jennimoo · 20/08/2013 08:47

I'm feeling like I'll be pregnant forever. There's been no cramps or anything recently. I think the false alarm has made me feel a bit detached, like I'm not really having a baby. And like everyone's watching and waiting... Could do with a day by myself but childminders off and if my mum looks after DD it has to be at home...

I sent ds1 to his grandparents quite a bit, just before ds2 was born. I think you just need some me time before the birth. Will your lo cuddle up and watch a DVD with you? I used to try and do something toddler focused in the morning and then quiet time in the afternoon.

Fingers crossed labour kicks off again soon for you.

It feels like the longest wait in the world whether you are waiting a day or a week or a fortnight Angry Angry But it's well worth the wait! Good luck jenni Smile

jennimoo · 20/08/2013 21:16

Thank you :)

DH is taking tomorrow off and taking DD out so I can chill out at home alone. Such a relief. Maybe they'll get back to find me cuddling a newborn having called for a home birth ;)

I know you must be fed up but after two pre term inductions I always get a bit jealous of people on these threads!

I hope you have a lovely relaxing day tomorrow doing nothing but snoozing and eating yummy food Smile

Wuxiapian · 20/08/2013 22:25

Awww, jen. Still waiting?

Hope you enjoy a little respite tomorrow.

jennimoo · 21/08/2013 06:24

Something going on I think. I'm going to try to stay in the zone and off MN. DH having the day off means I can send him and DD downstairs when they wake and hope this is it...

Wuxiapian · 21/08/2013 08:01

Fingers crossed for you, jen!!

Thinking of you today Jenni.

It's my due date and I've had 2 false starts - only for it to fizzle out. So I really understand your frustration throughout this thread!

Really hope this is it for you today. x
