In early labour now, what should I do?

I've been up since 1am and cobtractions are a bit sporadic but some very strong. I'm watching tv and mostly resting, having something small to eat and keep drinking and weeing to move around. Trying to stay in the zone I guess.

So any recommendations? Trying to keep occupied but don't want to distract too much as still quite early I reckon.

Had a nice day with DH and DD today and a few nice contractions the last hour or so, but still nothing much really.

Tomorrow is EDD so hoping I'm just having a 'perfect' baby who's going to arrive on the due date...

Hope things are still coming along Jenni!

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 02:23

Was woken up to big pains and after a bit decided I needed to move around, to help them progress and as uncomfortable, only for them to stop entirely. So infuriating and now I can't sleep so watching TV downstairs chewing a gaviscon tablet. I expect if I doze off it'll all start again :(

Shameless placemarking, hope things speed up for you Flowers

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 03:04

Sorry daley, not looking like this thread will ever progress!

Just enough contractions to make me think something might actually happen and to stop me going back to sleep, while coming to nothing again.

Just want to cry :(

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 26/08/2013 03:23

Oh dear don't cry. Well, cry if you want obviously and dont forget feeling weepy is a well-known labour sign.
You must be so tired. Can you have a little lie down or a hot shower or bath if you can't nap?

Hope baby wriggles into position and sets off to meet your arms ASAP x

PinkFondantFancy · 26/08/2013 08:05

Just checking in to wave some pompoms and cheer you on. It must be exhausting and infuriating but you are getting closer to having that baby in your arms. Hang in there and get some rest whenever you can.

SpottyTeacakes · 26/08/2013 08:14

Oh no Jenni Sad you must be so tired. Are you seeing mw today?

Icedink · 26/08/2013 08:25

I went back to sleep in the end after a good cry. Still having intermittent contractions, especially when lying down, weirdly. DH has taken DD downstairs and in awaiting breakfast in bed.

MW appointment is tomorrow morning.

These are the strongest / most contractions since that first day but still seem to be tailing off.

Really appreciate messages though, thank you all :)

Won't be much longer now Smile

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 09:35

Yay! Massive piece of plug, so gotta be getting going soon (trying to be optimistic!) Contractions have been consistent the last hour or so but only 10-15m apart. Going to try to stay relaxed but get up and dressed now and see if moving around helps...

Woo hoo!! I think you should go out and buy all the ingredients for a lovely roast dinner and get cooking Wink surely they will persuade baby out?!

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 09:52

I got 2kgs of mince out the freezer last night to batch cook bolognaise, so Sod's law says that wont happen and it'll all go to waste ;)
Am imagining my cervix like a waterfall and pacing the house :)

Yay! Really hope that today is the day Jenni x

Icedink · 26/08/2013 10:16

Yay! I didn't lose any plug until the day I finally went into labour despite the looong latent phase. I'm keeping everything crossed for you Smile

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 10:27

That's what I need to hear icedink!

My mum just called to say my stepdads going out for a long walk, so childcare is going to be longer getting here if needed. Didn't tell her we might be calling sooner rather than later: after the false alarm last time and the pressure of that I'd rather give birth while DH looks after DD outside than tell anyone too early.

Icedink · 26/08/2013 10:46

Good plan, I always found the pressure of people knowing scared the ctx away! Just be aware that it may well suddenly ramp up and be very fast but if necessary you could take your dd to hospital with you and have dh wait in the waiting room with her until your mum gets there to collect her.

Icedink · 26/08/2013 10:58

Sorry I just realised thats exactly what you just said Blush ignore me!

How exciting!

BabylonReturns · 26/08/2013 11:34

When I had dd2, we had only moved into our house 10 days previously.

I had literally unpacked the last box, and asked DH if he fancied a roast. As I bent down to pop said roast into the oven, my waters went all over the kitchen floor.

I stood up and said "oh DH, I just pee'd myself"

"We'll why did you do that you daft mare." Says he, as I double over with an intensely intense contraction.

"Oh" he says, "shall I get the car?"

That was precisely four years ago today. Dd was born on bank holiday Monday 2009.

We'd got parents on standby for childcare for dd1, and BH Monday was the ONLY day they were unavailable. Sod's law huh?

I called them, we had to take dd to them, but we left her and it was fine.

This was at 1.15pm ish. Dd2 was being snuggled at 5.10pm.

Hope today is the day Jenimoo

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 11:46

I think today's the day :)

About 5mins apart and nice and painful. Will be calling hospital in a few mins!

Exciting! It's a beautiful day to be born. Good luck Grin

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 26/08/2013 13:23

jennimoo · 26/08/2013 14:53

Been to hospital but sent home which is a pain as mum there with DD. was 2-3cms though.
