In early labour now, what should I do?

I've been up since 1am and cobtractions are a bit sporadic but some very strong. I'm watching tv and mostly resting, having something small to eat and keep drinking and weeing to move around. Trying to stay in the zone I guess.

So any recommendations? Trying to keep occupied but don't want to distract too much as still quite early I reckon.

jennimoo - ooh congrats, v jealous!! Hope everything goes really well for you today Smile

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 09:22

If I get distracted they seem to slow right down but DH has taken DD to the park and I feel like I've had 1 long 10 min contraction (to make up for not having one for 200mins?)

I'm bouncing on the gym ball, what else will help move things on (and get waters to go so I can head to hospital!)

It seems too early to call the labour line... I'm managing the pain and waters intact.

Maybe I should call, I hate using the phone thigh, and the stress will put a halt to things...

Aww just ring and say you wanted to let them know that you might be in later and when do they advise you to go

Ooh exciting!! Best of luck today! Smile

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/08/2013 09:45

my waters didn't break with DS either so i'd say frequency and intensity of your contractions is a better way to measure things. To keep intensity up try and keep moving, it will help with the pain too and gravity is your friend Grin

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 09:54

Thanks for advice.

They don't want to know til every 4 mins for an hour and strong all over ones. But I'm booked in now and down for a water birth.

I was managing my pain and contractions were every 5 mins. Waters hadn't broken. Decided to head in. Managed to get gas and air only as baby number 2 arrived to quick!

How are you feeling? Walking around is good, but don't tire yourself out.

CuriosityCola · 17/08/2013 11:08

Love Hotcross's advice Grin

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 11:50

Well had to stop walking as exhausted! Been to bed for a nice long nap and hoping things will kick off again when I get up now :)

CuriosityCola · 17/08/2013 11:53

Glad you had a nice nap. Make sure you keep eating and drinking to keep your energy up too.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/08/2013 12:00

Nap was a great idea. Are you able to eat some lunch?

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/08/2013 12:00

Good you were able to get a nap! Sounds like you might still have a while to go if you're able to sleep through contractions so you'll need to keep your energy up. Hopefully you'll have your LO by tonight tho!

ShoeWhore · 17/08/2013 12:03

How exciting! Not long until you meet your lo now Smile

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 12:05

The contractions had almost disappeared as I was so tired. I'm eating and drinking little and often (have since 1am!)

Feel more relaxed now which I'm sure will be better than the manically pacing the house...

I had a two hour nap with ds and once I woke up the contractions really came on strong and he was born a few hours later

CuriosityCola · 17/08/2013 12:08

Snap Spottyteacakes. My contractions were about ten mins apart while I slept. Then jumped to 5 mins apart and super strong after.

Really excited for you Smile

FortyFacedFuckers · 17/08/2013 12:09

Good Luck
