In early labour now, what should I do?

I've been up since 1am and cobtractions are a bit sporadic but some very strong. I'm watching tv and mostly resting, having something small to eat and keep drinking and weeing to move around. Trying to stay in the zone I guess.

So any recommendations? Trying to keep occupied but don't want to distract too much as still quite early I reckon.

Thanks for messages, really helps!

DH is taking DD out again for a but and she should come back asleep so will hopefully get some peace and things will pick up. A grumpy toddler doesn't help much!

Hope you have had a nicely sleeping toddler and are well on your way to meeting your new bundle.

rosyryan · 17/08/2013 15:25

Hope things are still progressing nicely Jenni.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/08/2013 15:25

Lack of updates are a good sign!

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 15:39

Unfortunately lack of updates is because nothing's happening. Feeling really upset and teary as really didn't think I'd be going to bed pregnant tonight, but nothing much happening at all. It might kick off again when DD goes to bed I guess but I'm just feeling so fed up :(

I woke up early this morning and saw your thread and checked just now to see if you had any news, a friend had a show a day before her baby arrived, she thinks she got an extra nights sleep in before baby arrived! Hope you get some progress tonight and some rest between now and baby arriving.

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 16:05

Last time I got show the night before then it was a lovely straightforward labour that progressed just fast enough from super gentle cramps around 6am with DD born by midnight..

last time i had a horrendously long labour but i had sweep on Fri, lost plug and had show on sat morn, contractions started on sat afternoon and DS arrived on Mon morn. This time 2 x sweeps, i lost plug over a week tho, loads of cramping but no show and impact being induced on Mon since no amount of walking, bouncing, dtd or eating spicy food has done the truck. Every birth is different so impact trying to stock up on the extra rest while i can! I really understand your impatience cos i am crawling the walls too but if you have a chance to take a bath and watch some rubbish tv before things really kick off then relax & enjoy while you still can! I'm sure we'll be hearing your birth announcement tomorrow Grin

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 16:43

Thanks little miss. Had another little cry, as know you're right.
I'm finding the fact my mum is on call and waiting very stressful. When we called to say its all stopped we discovered she was hanging around at the shops a few mins down the road... too much pressure!

Having another child to look after can be great in some ways cos it does help take your mind off the wait but like you i have mum and MIL on constant stand by just in case cramping turns into real contractions. its great having the family support but also a bit stressful having people literally waiting on your waters breaking. Sending good vibes your way, hope it won't be long to go now

Oh yes I agree a little cry is compulsory try not to worry about what your mums doing!

NonnoMum · 17/08/2013 17:35

Actually, not only a little cry is useful, but could you have a bit of a snappy argument with your DP? I found that always helped...

Just a bit of a go at him, over toast or something...

CuriosityCola · 17/08/2013 22:05

Hope all is going well.

ElBombero · 17/08/2013 22:14

What's happening jenni??

jennimoo · 18/08/2013 06:17

Well I slept from 8pm to 6am... hopefully that's my body getting ready to start again.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 18/08/2013 06:29

Wow that's a long sleep! Fingers crossed for you Smile

jennimoo · 18/08/2013 06:32

Sorry for TMI but ive woken with damp knickers which don't smell of wee.

So I'm planning to get the slow cooker on and plan an elaborate Sunday dinner for later on and try not to think about labour / contractions.

Jenni remember waters pool so if you want to know if you're leaking you could lie down for an hour later then stand up and see if it gushes a little bit

MakeTeaNotWar · 18/08/2013 06:35

Ooh waters? C'mon baby moo!

AntoinetteCosway · 18/08/2013 06:40

Ooh, live birth thread, how did I miss this yesterday?! Hope you're feeling good today OP. Yes, plan a full day of things it would be annoying to miss-that should get it going!
