Anyone else waiting for labour?!

Hello
I'm 39+4 with first baby and am poised waiting for labour to kick in any time this week or next week. Just wondered if anyone else was foot taping waiting for their bundle of joy to fill the crib?!! Confused
Also any thoughts on whether swimming still ok?! Am trying to keep busy but would hate for waters to break in a public pool Shock

Congratulations bangers - fab news and I can admit I'm very jealous!

Thanks NAR it is good to know I'm not the only one still going over / being induced with 4th baby. My IOL is scheduled for a week today so at least I know I should be in labour by then.

Well since sex and sweeps didn't work, today we went over to some friends house, went for a walk and ordered a very spicy curry take out. So far I don't feel any closer to having the baby but at least we've had a lovely afternoon.

mmmmsleep · 09/02/2013 23:14

Congrats bangers that's great news!!
Very jealous although no right to be impatient really as only 38 wks but ds started to arrive then so by next week will feel overdue and been having runs of regular contractions for few hours that then stop for few weeks so am being teased a little. Having vbac but section date booked for 41 weeks as no one coming near me with induction ever ever again so just hoping something happens before then or will be gutted to end up with section when my best childcare options are running out.

Good luck to everyone else for a quick and easy birth asap!

PickledInAPearTree · 09/02/2013 23:14

I'm 39 + 1 tomorrow where is everyone else?

ImGoingToCountToThree · 10/02/2013 05:43

I'm 41+2 today Hmm
Period type pains and tightenings off and on, some strong others not.
Little bit of back ache off and on.
Really want to avoid induction on Wednesday but at least then I know it won't be long until we meet our DC3 Smile

SilentMammoth · 10/02/2013 05:59

Just wanted to say quick hello to like leaf lizard (waves)! We were on ttc thread together. Lll, hope dc arrives soon, I'm 32+6, so hopefully a while to go yet. Good luck top all.

Cupcakemummy85 · 10/02/2013 08:20

Congrats bangers. That's great news!! I'm 40 weeks today an. I can't see I will be one of the 5% to give birth on their due date so on with the second sweep in Tuesday. I will do everything to avoid induction even a spring clean and going to countless soft play places (i always have to follow my dd down the slides and up ladders) lol !!!! I think I lost some of my mucus plug though. Wasn't like last time it was only a little bit this time and last time tere was a lot. Sound like a plug to you?

hugahuddy · 10/02/2013 10:20

Congratulations bangers, that's fantastic news!! Hope you get chance to sleep and recover!!

Think I might be racing 'I'm going to count to three' !! I'm 41 weeks today. Had mild period cramps on and off over the last few days. Dtd last night but it hasn't got the ball rolling! Politely declined sweep last Tuesday when 2 days overdue and debating whether to accept one that will be offered this Tuesday!!

taps foot impatiently

Aw gawd I'm well behind done of you

I'm going to have to have a sooty & sweep on Friday I think.

bangersmashandbeans · 10/02/2013 12:44

Well I know there are mixed reviews about them but a sweep definitely did it for me - had a sweep Thursday morning then went home and scrubbed cupboards and skirting boards etc, played with DD in the afternoon, bounced on the ball all evening, walked Friday morning, cleaned and bounced Friday afternoon, pains started so I stood up and did an hours ironing and by 1am I was 5-6 cm. Gave birth at half four. So get busy ladies!!

clarelou13 · 10/02/2013 14:48

Hello, Im 38+5 today. Been losing my plug for last 3 days and hoping baby comes soon. Went overdue by 10 days with DD and ended up with EMCS last time, so same as mmmmsleep, booked in for csec at 41 weeks. Have a friend in RL who is now 9 days overdue and feels a bit like we are in a race too, to see who gets there first. Although, both due to go to same hospital and I think our babies have been chatting and we will end up in together Smile
Had a mild backache today with some sharp tightenings, but until Im doubled over in pain, I won't believe I am actually in labour. (With DD I was in early labour for about 40 hours!!)

CackleALot · 10/02/2013 16:30

Hi All, can I join in the waiting game please? I've been reading posts for the last week - being very nosey! Smile

Congratulations to all the safe arrivals! You've all made it seem very easy Grin

I'm 38 wks today so a little behind some of you. This is my 2nd although first time around I had CS. Was booked in for elcs due to frank breech but ds decided to come the day before (5 days before due date) so ended up with a emcs instead!

Trying for vbac this time which is quite scary but asked to be booked in for CS at 41 wks as I don't want induced either.

Saw MW last week who said I feel ready to go anytime & she'd give me 6 days! Now I'm stupidly believing she is psychic and watching for signs! I can't remember any signs with D's, waters went unexpectedly (as i was preparing hosp bag to go in that evening!) and contractions started straight after.

Anyway, sorry for long post! Blush Looking forward to hearing everyone's stories!

mmmmsleep · 10/02/2013 20:11

Welcome cackle and clarelou...
Fingers crossed we all have lovely vbacs and shell our little peas soon.

PickledInAPearTree · 10/02/2013 20:20

I didn't know VBAC meant after caesarian and kept going on threads saying I wanted one too Blush

LimeLeafLizard · 10/02/2013 21:32

Period type pains and tightenings off and on, some strong others not.
Little bit of back ache off and on.
ImGoing yes, exactly the same here. It is tempting to start timing them but they're bound to stop then!

I'm 40+2 today.

SilentMammoth thanks for stopping by to say hello! Funny to think it has been a whole year since we were all on the ttc threads! Hope you're doing well, 32 weeks so not too long for you to go either.

LimeLeafLizard · 10/02/2013 21:34

Also, welcome to clare and cackle - hope you manage to get your VBACs.

MJP1 · 10/02/2013 22:26

Due date tomorrow, had a week of period type pains, back ache, braxton Hicks, nausea etc and tonight same again REALLY HOPE its really starting so want this baby NOW!!

PickledInAPearTree · 10/02/2013 22:28

Hi all and new folk!

Nothing to report here, very sore downstairs now and walking hard. Not long to go though. Well bloody hopefully!

Cupcakemummy85 · 11/02/2013 08:31

Over my due date now. Carrying in as normal and going to rhyme time, if my waters break there so be it lol. No point stopping just because I might go into labour somewhere inconvenient lol. Another sweep tomorrow yay lol

Happykitten · 11/02/2013 08:41

9 days over now. Yesterday the fed up stage hit despite trying to carry on as normal. Out for lunch with a friend today then a trip to Asda I think to pass the time.

bopfactory · 11/02/2013 08:41

Hi ladies, can I join in? Due tomorrow with DC4 and like ImGoing and LimeLeaf I have had all sorts of cramps and twinges for the past week, especially over the weekend, but they never seem to come to anything!

Having a sweep on Friday if nothing's happened by then - really hoping I will give birth this week as it's half term and will be so much more convenient not having to worry about school run and packed lunches etc!

LimeLeafLizard · 11/02/2013 08:56

Nothing to report here this morning either, despite being woken about 6am by a couple of very painful contractions which then stopped. Arrggh! Like cupcake I'm going to take DC3 to a toddler class anyway - we've got to do something to get out of the house or I'll go mad.

I heard that Waitrose / John Lewis give you £100 vouchers if your waters break in one of their stores, so maybe we should all go and walk up and down the aisles there and see if we can cash in!

Hi bop - I'm also thinking about how half term will affect my baby delivery plans. The only good thing about going overdue is that I know now that DH will definitely be off work for all of half term, so even if I 'loose' his help at home, at least he can take the kids out and about rather than leaving me alone with all 4 (as would have happened if I'd had the baby last week).

ImGoingToCountToThree · 11/02/2013 10:24

Hello to all the new waiting ladies.
Well yesterday had lots of backache and period type ache all day, I then bounced on my birthing ball in the evening and it all ground to a halt after that Hmm I had one particularly strong contraction before that too.

Hugabuddy- are you going to have the sweep tomorrow? Hope it works.

Lizard- we do seem to be having very similar symptoms, lets hope something comes of them today.

Grabbed DH before work and he was more than happy to do the deed before work, his lovely face lit up Grin Im hoping it will stir something up and kick start things.
41+3 today. 2 days until induction.

NAR4 · 11/02/2013 14:06

I have 3 days until my due date, so am just being ridiculously impatient really. Its my bodys fault for teasing me with all these signs; period pains, intense back ache, strong BH, losing mucus plug all over the last few weeks. Never had these signs with any of my others so had convinced myself that it actually meant labour was imminent and I would be able to avoid another induction.

Given up hope now and if I don't get a sweep on Thursday or it doesn't work, then will just resign myself to 2 more weeks of waiting and then an induction. Looked at the NICE guidelines on going over 42 weeks and think I would just be a nervous wreck, so won't be refusing an induction.

My hospital doesn't induce before 42 weeks but where I had my first 3 used to induce at 10 days over. What about everyone elses hospital?

PickledInAPearTree · 11/02/2013 14:40

That's rubbish NARS hope we can all avoid an induction.

I'm lying down can hardly walk stabbing pains and feeling of immense pressure in my undercarriage.

I dread to think of the state I will be in if it lasts two more weeks, bloody Nora!

Panzee · 11/02/2013 14:50

Hello! I'm 40+1 and hoping for VBAC too. Got lots of Braxton Hicks but that's about all.
