Sorry to be a moan-arse

I'm just fed up of the anticipation now, I hate not knowing what to expect :( One minute i'm fine then it gets to this time in the morning wheni'm at home alone - everyone else at work and my mind goes on overdrive.

The past week I have not been sleeping well at night due to thinking too much about labour/birth/after birth etc. and my back is starting to ache lying on my left grrr i try to alternate but have to go back to my left otherwise i worry!

Due date is Friday, I have my 40 week check two days early on wednesday and just eager to know if baby is still in a good position/ if my iron has gone up etc...

Its not knowing what to expect that is worrying me! feeling so pants today :(

anyone else in the same boat and fancy a moan? lol

Dozeyland had very similar feelings this afternoon strong BH but with sore backache which was quite uncomfortable while we were out for a walk. Felt quite excited about it even if it was just the start of something slow but went away as soon as got home and took couple of paracetamol since then nothing but BH. Could be we are both in the very early latent phase of labour. I was induced so have no idea what to expect like youConfused LO going mad kicking and rolling about too

smithy100 · 24/10/2010 21:04

Evening ladies sounds like you are all doing really well - its all starting to happen. Hope you all have eventful nights :)

No action here walked round Ikea today and then had to tidy the house loads. Felt totally worn out and did have a couple of strong pains but think I've just done too much.

My new sofa arrives tomorrow been waiting for it for about 2 weeks (its late) and I'm hoping baby will turn up once it gets here. Its like the last thing on my to do list!

Dozeyland · 24/10/2010 21:48

Hey ladies.

I'll tell you the times, 7:35, 7:50, 8:00, 8:07,8:17, 8:33, 8:46, 8:55, 9:00, 9:09, 9:13, 9:20, 9:30, 9:37..... and still coming

but NOT PAINFUL, strong with slight backache but not painful to me............

What would you think, just BH's or the start of early labour?

(remind you that i am 1-2cms dilated according to MW on weds)

Hi everyone - very quick post as have to feed my new son! He was born this morning at 8.35am after 25 hours of labour. Weighed 9lb 3oz and is called Max. He's pretty chilled. Labour incredibly painful despite epidural as he was ROT position - however actual birth and pushing was fab. Feel a bit invincible!

Good luck everyone with these late babies. Smile

xx

P.S. Dozey - that's how my labour started - was all in lower tummy.

sassie23 · 25/10/2010 08:31

Oh congratulations Justa that is fabulous news wel done you a good weight and lovely name! Hope you are home and safe and well. Still no real progression from me just occassional back pain and strong BH...

Dozeyland · 25/10/2010 08:56

Congratulations justa!

Yeah I rang the ward last night, went to get checked and i am now 3-4cms, but not felt pain - just mild discomfort.

MWs notes;

Position - LOL (left = direction baby facing
occipito = head down with the back of the head presenting- This is a good thing!
lateral = kind of sideways, as in back to your side as opposed to back to your front or your back

Engagement -2/5 palp
CX - posterior, soft, stretchy, almost effaced, 0.5cm thick only.
OS - 3-4cm dilated
position - undetermind
PP - ceph
membranes - felt, bulging, intact

MW said that i've done well getting to 3-4cms without batting an eyelid. just have to wait for the contractions..... she thought it was going to kickstart as she pulled the cervix forward a bit to help..

So.....

went home at about 1am this morning as i wasnt in pain, the tightenings carried on, but then i fell asleep. woke up a few times with back ache with occasional contractions (every ten mins or so?)passed some browny/red discharge - still passing slowly - filled a little pad..

just sat on my ball now and so far had contractions up & down 8:29, 8:35, 8:40, 8:50, lasting between 30-40 secs...
strong tightenings but not painful....

sorry for all my notes & technicalities. i just dont know what to think. feel bad too because DP is off work today incase something happens.. i feel like im wasting time!

thats great dozey you are on your way nice slow build up and good position is what you want. keep it up !! nothing from this end really to report totally fed up now everyone texting getting annoying now

Dozeyland · 25/10/2010 09:12

Tell me about it, phone calls, texts, "any news?" - NO!!

So do you think where mine have gone irregular again that its going to stop?
it's odd when they say you're 3-4cms and not feeling pain?

is that because my cervix is still 0.5cm thick or because the head is only 2/5?????

OP posts:
Dozeyland · 25/10/2010 09:51

Also my "station" is -1 above (os?) not sure on MW wrting but -1

station = (-4 which is just coming into the pelvis to +4 station which is on the perineum or ready to be born). (google)

Ooh, so exciting Dozeyland! It can't be long now! Grin Can't remember, were you planning a homebirth or are you going into hospital? Hope things start speeding up for you soon!

smithy100 · 25/10/2010 10:56

Justa - congratulations what a good size boy :) Brilliant well done you.

Dozey - sounds great keep up the good work. Keep eating and drinking to keep your engery.
I think labour can slow down something just to give you a break. Then it can all kick off again. It happened with both of mine try and stay relaxed and at home from as long as poss.

No news from me - couldn't sleep last night mad tidy of the house new sofa arriving today then hopefully a baby at some point this week!

Dreemagurl · 25/10/2010 17:22

Congrats Justa, hope all is well with you and your little one.

Dozey sounds all very promising - fingers crossed for you.

Just been to the midwife for a sweep - not effaced at all and she couldn't reach the main bit so feeling very disappointed and disheartened. Got slight crampy feeling and a little bleeding now but that's apparently normal. Will be induced on Saturday if nothing has happened - this is looking more likely :(

Hope everyone else is doing ok :)

sassie23 · 25/10/2010 17:40

Hey dreema yeah its disheartening isn't it. I had some backache yesterday but nothing since going to community MW tomorrow for check up but don't think I even want an internal cos I know nothing will have changed and I don't want another dissappointment, she doesn;t believe in sweeps either so think I'll leave it alone and let what will be will be before induction schduled for 3rd Nov which seems forever away, any word from worrisomeheart think you were induced yesterday hope all good

sassie23 · 26/10/2010 09:37

All quiet here since yesterday things must be happening but not here !

Dreemagurl · 26/10/2010 10:12

Looks that way Sassie - all quiet on my front too. Still a little twingey from sweep yesterday but don't think it's going to turn in to anything exciting. Looks like induction at the weekend is going to happen - why do these babies not want to make an appearance by themselves??! Hope all goes well with you at MW today. I've given up trying any kind of "home induction techniques" as nothing's going to work if I'm not even effaced. Can't believe it as I'm 41 + 1 today - you'd think my damn cervix would at least START softening up! Grr.. It's so demoralising isn't it, I feel like a total failure which is ridiculous cos there's nothing I can do about it. Ah well, I guess for whatever reason, baby just isn't ready so I should just let it be.
Sorry for morning rant - feeling better to get it off my chest though!

Good luck to everyone else out there who is in labour / might be in labour. :)

sassie23 · 26/10/2010 10:56

Is this your first Dreema? Its my second for some reason I thought it would at least come before induction?? Really want something to happen this week...Don't feel like a failure some babies just take longer my DS was 12 days late and was induced god knows how much longer he would have stayed in if they hadn't encouraged him. Im not feeling too great today the curse of the haemorroid has befallen me sorry TMI but I suffered really badly from these with DS 1 and thought I had escaped them this time but no in total agony all last night. Hoping though that this means LO has moved into position and the pressure is causing the piles. Not looking forward to delivery with them though. Please don't be too hard on yourself its really not anyones fault just the luck of the draw when it comes to babies arrviing thats what I keep telling myself anyway Smile

Dreemagurl · 26/10/2010 11:30

Yep it's my first so it's all a bit new - not quite sure what to expect! Sorry to hear about your new uncomfortable symptom :( - fingers crossed that's one thing I've managed to escape. As you say though, could be a good sign of further pressure. Hope it is! I'm still getting some twinges and trying not to expect too much from them - it's so frustrating getting excited about something and then being disappointed!

Wishing both of us luck for the next few days. I so don't want to be induced. What was it like with your DC1? I'm just terrified of being tied to a bed for 20 hours - we were hoping for a completely natural waterbirth. I know that once the LO is here I won't care how she got here but until then.... Confused

KathMCB · 26/10/2010 11:49

I have found the right thread for me! Due on Sat 30th with number one and sleeping has become something I do during the day......am keeping my parter awake as I toss and turn till about 2am then usually give up and end up dozing on the sofa with the cat. Really excited but bored to tears at the same time.....MW tomorrow but wee one is "well engaged" so just need to wait and see.....

Good advice on not reading too many childbirth threads....

sassie23 · 26/10/2010 11:57

Hey KathMCB welcome to the moaning section!!
Dreema indcution was ok until they broke my waters it all went a bit haywire then and I had to have an epi to slow it down which confined me to the bed. Don''t worry you can be monitored off the bed if you don't have epi. Thats my prob want to be more mobile this time and more in control but not if LO doesn't listen and arrive this week!!

Dreemagurl · 26/10/2010 12:12

Hi KathMCB - welcome. Feel free to have a good rant. I totally hear you about the non sleeping thing and ending up on the sofa. There is no position that's comfortable is there?! And if by chance there IS a position I can get into that isn't completely horrible, chances are that LO hates it and kicks me repeatedly till she moves. Oh the joys of late pregnancy!

I guess all we can do is think positive, and remind ourselves that despite what it feels like, it doesn't last forever! We WILL have our little angels in our arms soon enough! :)

Dozeyland · 26/10/2010 23:08

STILL HERE :(

OP posts:
Dreemagurl · 27/10/2010 06:14

So I'm not sure if I'm having contractions... Started off last night with these stabbing pains in my bladder (I think) that I had before - only last a few seconds but make me jump and squirm. Then started getting what I think are contractions, but irregular and spaced out. Almost constant back pain and seems to radiate round to the front maybe every half an hour (sometimese longer) and feels like bad period pain / stomach cramps. Lasting about 20-30 seconds. I have been able to sleep through them and the pain isn't too bad. Not sure if it's getting worse or not. I'm just slightly concerned as she was very very active when it all started, wriggling and punching all over the place, but now she's very quiet. Should we call someone and should I let OH go to work today? Don't want to waste anyone's time especially as I realise this could go on for a while. What do you guys think?
Hang in there Dozey - I'm sure it won't be long for you x

sassie23 · 27/10/2010 09:38

sure give someone a call and tell them how you're feeling sounds like the early start of something. Was feeling similar crampy feelings yesterday evening but again have calmed down grrr...poor Dozey sounds even more frustrating

smithy100 · 27/10/2010 11:04

I ladies no action from me. Everything is driving me slightly mad stuck at home all day today with DSs. Did ask DH to try and take some time off during half term but he is busy at work. He thought maybe I could take them to a play centre today, is he mad? Its half term and my little boys always gets stuck and I have to climb up and get him - I can't think of anything worse Angry.

Sorry for the rant - but I'm really feed up. DH also going out for fancy client lunch today and I'm trying to keep the kids happy. He said he would try and come home early from work - but I know he won't because he is busy. Maybe when he is not so busy I might be able to have this baby. Sorry girls - hope all ok with you.
Sorry no name checks - just too tired.
