Sorry to be a moan-arse

I'm just fed up of the anticipation now, I hate not knowing what to expect :( One minute i'm fine then it gets to this time in the morning wheni'm at home alone - everyone else at work and my mind goes on overdrive.

The past week I have not been sleeping well at night due to thinking too much about labour/birth/after birth etc. and my back is starting to ache lying on my left grrr i try to alternate but have to go back to my left otherwise i worry!

Due date is Friday, I have my 40 week check two days early on wednesday and just eager to know if baby is still in a good position/ if my iron has gone up etc...

Its not knowing what to expect that is worrying me! feeling so pants today :(

anyone else in the same boat and fancy a moan? lol

Hi Everyone

dreemagurl welcome to our daily updates.
I did natal hypnothephy yesterday and it was great having another session tonight - my DH thinks its too hippyish. But hes not the one having the baby. Been to midwife this morning and she thinks I'm 3/5 engaged. DH away on business not back till later tonight so no action this afternoon. Got to drive and get DS's from school/nursery hate being in the car.

DG - told my husband not to plan any more work trips next week. Or any more social arrangments (football, friends anything) He is only allowed to go to work and rush home everyday :)

Dozey - dont worry about the size they never can really tell. MW thought my first 2 were going to be massive and really worry me. They were a fine size - I've heard that baby will only grow to fit the size of the mother.

Hope all you other are OK

Any news from anyone else?

I've been waiting to get a new sofa delivered for about 2 weeks just been told its coming on Monday - I bet baby will arrive after that. Will have to keep plastic on (like grandma's do)just in case waters break on it :))

Good luck for the weekend everyone - will we all be eating curry tomorrow night?

Justanormalmum · 22/10/2010 14:17

Smithy - baby will defo arrive when sofa is being delivered. A bit like lighting a fag before the bus arriving (in the days where I smoked.)

I am 40+12 today! Midwife just been and given me a sweep which worked properly this time. Good news that the cervix has moved forwards and I am starting to get ready she says.

Sending you all labour vibes.

smithy100 · 22/10/2010 14:37

Sounds good normal mum - I think you will be first of us to produce bouncing baby :) Good luck.

Dreemagurl · 22/10/2010 16:05

Good luck normalmum hope the sweep works. I have one booked for Monday, hope they're not as uncomfortable as I've heard! Hoping that magically something will happen in the next few days so don't have to have one but as we're all finding out these babies seem to want to come when they're ready and not before.
Dozey try not to worry too much about the weight of your baby - my friend just had hers and she was 5 days overdue, the little one was 6 llb 7oz and everyone had told her he would be much bigger, so fingers crossed for you.

Have just eaten a whole pineapple and psyching myself up for a walk although might just resort to my stepping machine - hoping that has the same effect!

Continuing best wishes and more labour dust for all of us!

DomesticG0ddess · 22/10/2010 16:35

Yes, good luck normalmum. No, Dozey, she hasn't said anything about the size. But I had a scan at 35 weeks and his measurements were above average for everything. Yes, smithy, definitely leave the plastic on! Although I read that only 15% of women's waters break before being in actual labour.

I AM SO FED UP!!! I would be absolutely fine if I did not have to see anyone, but am so sick of talking about it - obviously everyone I have seen today has gone on about my due date, etc etc and keep getting texts asking how I am feeling. I know people care, but it's really getting on my tits now.

smithy100 · 22/10/2010 17:02

I'm with you DomesticG - had to do school run and there is nothing worse you feel like you are on show and all I really wanted to do was stay at home and watch TV. Good news is DH nearly home so he can put kids to bed :)

Dreem - good for you a whole pineapple hope it doesn't make you feel sick. Good luck with walking or stepping :)

DomesticG0ddess · 22/10/2010 17:11

At least it is half term next week! My fear is I am going to go even longer than that. There's an inset day on the following Monday, which helps, but it's still possible I could be going back after that, still with a bump. The comments would just be too much!

Dreem, my sweep 4 years ago was fine - nothing to worry about at all. It sounded horrible, but it was actually less uncomfortable than a smear test! I had a pineapple the other day, but I read you would need to eat about 7 in one sitting for it have any effect [hshock]!

sassie23 · 22/10/2010 17:53

Hello everyone
sorry no namechecks just too tired to remember everyone and thiis is a long post need advice. Bit fed up with myself now think I'm expecting too much. 39+5 today went for obs growth scan midwife basically couldn't understnad why they had sent me at this stage she estimated LO is 9lb 6ozs but she put 10lbs in the notes to encourage the docs to bring me in early. So then wait an hour to see doc. She hardly even looked at scan details just said oh well it could be 15% to 20% out so now we just have to get you to go into labour now ha ha! Tried to do a sweep no warnings midwife bascially pinned me to the bed then declared oh its very posterior no go here. She then informs me that they can't bring me in til 40+10 at the earliest but sure you had a big baby first time round so you can manage it againShock
So they bring you in tell you its huge then say well you'll just have to wait...
Anyway she said she tried her best to sweep but too long and hard but I've had bloody mucus discharge all afternoon since?Sorry TMI. What you think, could it be a show or just because she was poking around? Also crampy back pains when my braxton hicks kick in which I didnt have before ? Ladies honestly am I just wishing this is it or could it have worked. So fed up worried about size and BTW is it safe to have a bath after sweep really sore back thanks evryone hope you are all doing well today Smile

DomesticG0ddess · 22/10/2010 18:11

I don't know, could be because she was poking around, but that wouldn't give you back pains with Braxton Hicks - when you say it like that, don't you mean a mild contraction????

Don't worry too much about the size they tell you - they seem to get it wrong so much? I also don't see the point of checking the size and then saying they can't do anything til 40+10, either. You must be v frustrated, but it sounds like things might well be on the move anyway....

Don't know about the bath, but would imagine it's absolutely fine.

Dreemagurl · 22/10/2010 18:42

Fingers crossed for you sassie, a bath is fine as long as your waters haven't broken - probably the best thing for you at the moment. Sounds like not a very nice day for you, you poor thing. As others have said, they don't always get the size right so think positive! :)

Justanormalmum · 22/10/2010 20:17

Sassie - can you book in for multiple sweeps? My cervix was so posterior midwife couldn't find it on Sunday yet today she was able to do a 'really good sweep' and found I'm 2 - 3 cms.

You might need to have a sweep every other day to get things going. My midwife pal tells me these can be done yourself. Confused

DomesticG0ddess · 23/10/2010 10:38

Any news this morning? I had bad backache before bed (hot water bottle job), in night, and this morning. We did go through our "to do" list last night, just in case. But here I am on MN, so nothing happening.

sassie23 · 23/10/2010 12:50

nothing from me all back to normal after yesterday sigh ...

Justanormalmum · 23/10/2010 13:31

Hi everyone - good news is I'm in labour! Contractions every 6 mins since about 8am so just sitting here with tens machine going trying not to think of the pain...

Sending labour vibes your way. x

sassie23 · 23/10/2010 14:07

wow thats great justanormalmum congrats keep up the good work sending good wishes you and LO way x

Justanormalmum · 23/10/2010 14:26

They're slightly irregular now so hoping that they get a move on otherwise induction tom morning.... grrr!

smithy100 · 23/10/2010 15:45

Hi Everyone

Great news normalmum - hope it carries on. Go for a walk if it stops that happened with my second. And you know if it is starting on its own maybe don't get induced tomorrow - might not be worth it.

Sassie don't worry about size too much. They thought both my DS's were going to be massive and I had to have extra scans and they were fine. Good size boys but nothing that was a worry. Babies grow to fit there mums - mother natural is very clever really.

Nothing happening with me been out and about all day today with kids and DH. Curry and sex tonight Shock DH not keen!

DomesticG0ddess · 23/10/2010 17:00

Great justa, keep it going! Pelvic rotations on all fours! I have intermittent low back pain. Just been lying on bed listening to hypnobirthing CD to chill out. Then probably another walk in this lovely sunshine.

Also need to get some prunes, am sure I have not been to loo since Thursday and starting to get a bit paranoid about it!

sassie23 · 23/10/2010 17:54

hope all going well justa ?? Went to my reflexologist this afternoon was really lovely fell asleep during it. Then she did some reiki on me which was amazing never had it before could actually feel the energy flowing from her hands and Im usually quite a cynical person. Actually made me cry but then Ive been doing a bit of that today

DomesticG0ddess · 24/10/2010 09:56

Well I have been having regular, mild contractions since last night - don't know if it is the real thing as it's just round the front. Have increased a bit in intensity, roughly 10 mins apart, but nothing really happening - it's just a bit uncomfortable, but nothing else. Hope this doesn't go on for days!

I love reflexology, so relaxing!

sassie23 · 24/10/2010 12:23

Hope you are doing good those of us in labour and those of not quite there yet. Bit of backache this morning but nothing major Im due today so it will never happen today

Dozeyland · 24/10/2010 12:30

You never know Sassie! hang in there.. when will you next see MW?

I'm 40+2 now. keep having period type cramps on & off (worse at night) then backache. but stops.

Woke up this morning and i think i was leaking aminotic fluid??? or just water CM?

Stron irregular braxton hicks (alot stronger than last week but not painful. just really uncomfy dow below like baby is pushing down and grinding?)

Just going to have a nice bath.

So who knows...

Good luck everyone... can't wait to hear about some labours & births going on .

Any other updates?

sassie23 · 24/10/2010 12:37

yea I have strong BH and woke in the night thinking I could feel something happening but calmed down by morning. Think backache is baby trying to get into position because it seems to be turning from side to side all the time. So I suppose its all going in the right direction with DS1 can't really remember this sort of thing and he didn't arrive til 40+12 after induction !!

DomesticG0ddess · 24/10/2010 13:51

Sounds like we are all getting there? Mine are about 6 mins apart, intensity has increased but still mild. Called labour ward for some advice on when to go in/call again. Feeling quite relaxed, but don't want to be too relaxed and end up with a frantic dash to hospital! But as it is so gradual I think it will be fine on that front. Pain all in lower abdomen at moment. Oh and finally went to the loo this morning, had resorted to prunes!

Dozeyland · 24/10/2010 18:11

I'm finding it hard to know if its BH or contractions.

strong feeling, and in lower abdo but not painful??

back ache too.

had about 6 in the space of an hour earlier so maybe just BH?

God me too trying to be relaxed but dont want to forget the reality of what will/could be!

Feel likei need a toilet too but not sure if its the "bowel movement before labour kicks in" or just my iron tablets being annoying??
