Ok, so I think I may possibly be in labour...

Was woken up at about 6.40 which lots of pain in my uterus, however this isn't unusual at the moment, but I couldn't get back to sleep as it was unusually painful, plus quite painful in my bottom which I haven't had till now, and feeling a little bit nauseous.

I've been to the loo and. well, you know, expelled stuff that needed expelling, and my show, which has been coming in bits for days is now bloody.

Pains are intermittent atm, and not really timable yet (I've been in constant bloody pain for weeks so finding it hard to tell the difference!)

Am planning a HWB, but my first labour what about 5-6 from start to finish, so am anticipating this one to be shorter. At what point should I call the MW?

DH is just getting ready and can hopefully take DD to nursery, just as I'd planned (see my cosmic ordering thread).

What do you think? Time to start filling up the pool?

Bumper - you only went and had that baby when I was out of the country with no access to MN Angry. And I loves a good birth thread too.

Many, many congratulations to the Bumper family, and well done to you.

oh dear :(

KickArseQueen · 26/09/2010 01:12

Oh no! please don't say your boobs are like rocks and she's chomping you because she's not latching on far enough??? If so express of until she can get on properly or you will end up cut to ribbons! :( Its happened to me with all 4 of mine on the day my milk came in.

Hope you are ok!

Bumperlicious · 26/09/2010 10:24

Not that bad, not been massively engorged, just struggling to latch properly though i can't see how to make it better. She is feeding but not settling very well at night. last night she fed, fussed, pooed, grunted from 3-6!

Congratulations Bumper! Things will get better, the early days are so hard but they pass so quickly. I think its easy to look at it in hindsight and forget how bloody hard tiny babies are but we've all been there and I'm sure you were with dd1 but it passed so quickly you forgot xx

KickArseQueen · 26/09/2010 17:15

Bumper, have you tried this? feed until the initial letdown stops, then wind even if she would happily stay latched on, then latch back on and continue?

Bumperlicious · 26/09/2010 18:38

No, but do you think that will help? Thanks.

KickArseQueen · 27/09/2010 21:19

Often yes, because when they are very little the 1st let down can be a bit fast and as they gulp the milk they take in air. Babe then wants to feed but is filled up with air and then can't take in any more milk but wants too. Hence fussing and grizzling until poo and fart.

My B/feeding consultant always said that the 2am feed tended to have the strongest let down, so more likelyhood for gulping air at night.

When you put " fed, fussed, pooed, grunted from 3-6!" It rang bells for mine doing the same thing.

It may not help but its worth a try.

Hope you get a better night tonight, and if that latch doesn't improve go see someone in RL.
:)
