Likely breast cancer after ultrasound

spartanrunnergirl · 02/10/2024 20:29

Hi all after routine mammogram I was referred for an ultrasound, which I had today and the radiologist said it's likely a cancer, thus did a few core biopsies. I did not know that cancer could be detected at ultrasound stage but she was pretty certain it was cancer and said the biopsies were to see what they were dealing with. Has anyone else had this? Thank you

Just to let you know, my phone call this morning was a mistake.
The clinic co-ordinator thought I had my biopsy last week when I went in for my diagnosis so was making the next appointment in anticipation.
Absolutely shit my self for a few hours there !
I really do need to embrace these curveballs pretty flipping quickly

Oh gosh, phew … and exhale. Latest instalment of the ghost train! Xx

Oh such a relief! I hope you're recovering now from the stress.

Glad to have got yesterday done and another piece of the puzzle underway. Although, definitely more uncomfortable than the first one !

Some of these stories are just awful ! I actually heard my consultant talking about my notes and stating very loudly in the room next door 'Oh, I thought it was a papilloma' which was a bit of a give away.

How is everyone doing today ?

dancingwhilstfacingthemusic · 09/04/2025 09:04

That’s a relief @AlwaysALargeSauvignonBlanc Glad the next step has been done - what comes next now (currently!) ?

AlwaysALargeSauvignonBlanc · 09/04/2025 10:34

@dancingwhilstfacingthemusic ive actually just listened back to my meeting for first time and glad to say, I pretty much took it all in so didn’t get any nasty surprises this morning.
Plan is that both biopsy results will be in and discussed at MDT on 17th April. I’ll have an appointment in the afternoon and we will know what surgery, whether is lymph node testing or clearance and have a date booked for before 15th May. Results end of May. Radiotherapy early / mid July (just in time for my daughters 21st & my 41st). Also got Wimbledon tickets which I may have to offload 🙄 .

This is providing there are no jump scares from the ghost train along the way so probably actually nothing like this I’m starting to learn 🤣

Huge fingers crossed here @AlwaysALargeSauvignonBlanc . I cannot even go there with the number of things I had to cancel/ redistribute (Yes, I'm looking at you, DS2 and best mate, staying at the Hilton in London and going to a show!!). But, it does make me appreciate the things I have even without the lovely trips - which are important.

Just lost a friend this week to complications of ovarian cancer. She was too young, hadn't had time to enjoy the retirement she had planned and saved for, only becoming ill in October. It is putting so much in perspective for me.

We're going to need a new thread soon @spartanrunnergirl This has been a wonderful supportive resource. We'll need breast cancer in the title to ensure that the people who need it find the support and see the many positives amongst the slog.

I was going to say the same thing. I’ve enjoyed being on here and trying to offer some reassurance although I do try and avoid BC related threads but this one has been lovely.

spartanrunnergirl · 09/04/2025 11:39

@dancingwhilstfacingthemusicwe will and it is such a useful space.

What do you think title wise?

breast cancer chat - for sharing and support pre, during and post treatment.

Sub title the awful club of awesome women!

all suggestions welcome!

That nails it I think. What do others think?

we would need to link to this thread in the OP

AlwaysALargeSauvignonBlanc · 09/04/2025 13:54

Love it !

PemberleynotWemberley · 09/04/2025 14:48

Absolutely right we need a fresh thread, but I think there's a lot to be said for keeping the title. It was the particular situation Spartan was dealing with of fearing the worst but not yet knowing what she was dealing with that has really resonated, and new joiner after new joiner has come along at that early, dread-and-fear-filled stage of incomplete diagnosis, and been given support, comfort and hope by others a little further along the track. I don't think this thread is a standard BC support thread and I do believe this was a gap that needed filling.
We all become more knowledgeable with the journey, but let's not forget what it was like to have found a lump or mammogram anomaly and have to get through the initial few weeks and months when we didn't know how to survive it, how to tell our kids, what to expect from treatment etc. There has been so much love and generosity in giving early hand-holds and the ability to verbalise things we can't yet manage to say out loud.

PemberleynotWemberley · 09/04/2025 14:55

...unless it's a bit triggering for @spartanrunnergirl who might not want reminding of that time?

SunnyValemin · 09/04/2025 18:02

I actually can't believe this thread only started in October. I feel like you ladies were all alongside me during my treatment last year, but the bulk of it actually ended in July! Funny how the mind works x

Really valid. That’s how I stumbled across it and I’m sure many others before me.

spartanrunnergirl · 09/04/2025 19:48

I think @PemberleynotWemberleyis right …. Shall we keep it simple - same title with (2) in title? X

dancingwhilstfacingthemusic · 09/04/2025 20:46

@PemberleynotWemberley is very wise. That’s a good idea with the (2) @spartanrunnergirl

It’a been an amazing source of support. I can’t believe it when I read back and see my own experiences - am really proud of myself and my support team (you lot included).

spartanrunnergirl · 09/04/2025 20:53

Same @dancingwhilstfacingthemusic! I filter my name occasionally and read through my posts and am in awe of myself (haha) and how I got on with it.

I hope everyone is doing ok.

thinking of @chococakey- hope things are going ok with you at the moment x

I’ll make a new thread in a bit.
