Pregnant and on 2ww pathway as I’ve found a lump

I posted recently having noticed a large lump in my neck, assumed my thyroid had just gone a bit wonky with pregnancy hormones so saw my GP yesterday who has put me on the 2ww for head and neck to rule out cancer. I’ve had some other symptoms (tiredness, croaky voice) but it’s so difficult to know what is just plain hayfever or a pregnancy symptom and what isn’t. I’ve lost a bit of weight but I had horrible morning sickness through my entire first trimester so could be down to that.

I’m trying to keep it together and think rationally that it’s probably nothing sinister and my GP is just being cautious but I can’t help panicking. Would just like a handhold please while I wait Flowers

Fabulous news! You’re doing so great!

Bimblesalong · 21/12/2024 08:23

Fantastic. Hopefully baby will be here soon (my first was born on 23rd Dec!). Maybe a solstice baby, a light on the shortest day.

Pearl97 · 21/12/2024 08:40

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 21/12/2024 23:30

Hello everyone! I’ve had an epidural and oxytocin drip going for six hours now and I haven’t dilated past 2cm sadly. The epidural hasn’t been working properly and I’ve been able to move my legs fully and can feel all the contractions, so the anaesthetist has been back round to increase it.

Midwife gave me a very enthusiastic sweep while she was in there just now and managed to get a whole load of membrane and fluid out so I hope she’s managed something! Consultant is coming to do another cervix check at 5am and make a decision as to whether we persevere with the drip or if we go to theatre. I’m thoroughly exhausted and don’t know how much longer I can carry on with this, so I think if they offer me a section, I will agree this time. 😪

Hi OP,
I’ve only just found your thread and just want to say I think you are fabulous. I hope you manage a bit of rest and push your beautiful baby out today. If you do end with a c/s, you know you tried everything but sometimes it’s just the way it goes.
Sending much love and positive vibes.

Pearl97 · 22/12/2024 05:28

Our beautiful, perfect little BOY (🥹!!!) arrived this morning at 07:17 via emergency section. He dropped his heart rate twice overnight and we all decided enough was enough, and I was too exhausted by then to continue with labour.

We are so in love!

What an adorable baby!

Many congratulations.

I hope you have a fabulous first Christmas together.

Hoping you have speedy recoveries, now and next time. Wishing you much health and happiness for the New Year and beyond.

Shiny88 · 23/12/2024 00:12

Congratulations 🥳 he's perfect.

I just wanted to write to say Iv literally just had a hemithyroidectomy 2 weeks ago. (Also had an emergency c section 6 years ago) and this year also had open abdominal surgery.

So I have a few tips for you.

Rest as much as you can from your c section now. Obviously move about etc but rest lots. Even on the days where you feel like you're able to do more - don't. Your body won't thank you the next day. Especially as your having another surgery in a few weeks.

For your thyroid surgery. 100% get yourself a v shaped pillow. It's been a godsend for my neck for the first week. Take throat sweets in with you. You'll want them after surgery. And take a straw drink bottle / keep it handy when your home.

My thyroid surgery was complicated as the lump had stuck to surrounding muscles and my oesophagus. But 1 week post surgery I was alright. Still Abit sore but alright. So try not to panic too much about the recovery of that. Just make sure you're not doing too much lifting after so you can heal quicker.

Will be thinking of you Flowers

What a world wind you've had xx

Bunnybear42 · 23/12/2024 00:43

Many congratulations on your beautiful little baby boy !! Awful to have to go through all those days of induction to then still have a C-Section but baby is out safe and well and you'll soon forget about before! Recovery is not too bad (I've had 2 - but planned) but do rest up loads and eat well ready for the next procedure. Hope that goes well and enjoy Christmas with your new addition x

Roomforapony · 23/12/2024 02:14

Congratulations on your gorgeous baby boy (you were right😊)💙💐
Rest as much and as often as you can, don’t stand if you can sit and don’t sit if you can lie down (2 CS taught me this) and accept any help that’s offered.
I’ve followed your journey (as a fellow cancer patient) and you and your DP are awesome, your beautiful son has struck very lucky with his mummy and daddy💕

Pearl97 · 23/12/2024 03:38
