Pregnant and on 2ww pathway as I’ve found a lump

hereismydog · 05/07/2024 22:02

I posted recently having noticed a large lump in my neck, assumed my thyroid had just gone a bit wonky with pregnancy hormones so saw my GP yesterday who has put me on the 2ww for head and neck to rule out cancer. I’ve had some other symptoms (tiredness, croaky voice) but it’s so difficult to know what is just plain hayfever or a pregnancy symptom and what isn’t. I’ve lost a bit of weight but I had horrible morning sickness through my entire first trimester so could be down to that.

I’m trying to keep it together and think rationally that it’s probably nothing sinister and my GP is just being cautious but I can’t help panicking. Would just like a handhold please while I wait Flowers

Oh thank you, that’s so lovely of you!

I’ve had the pessary in about six hours and nothing much is happening Grin DP has gone to get me some snacks for tonight but I’m sending him home as both of us could really just do with a good night’s sleep.

Lots of luck OP. New to your thread but can you keep the placenta for the stem cells?(probs waaaay too last minute here, sorry!)

Pearl97 · 17/12/2024 18:15

Thank you for the update. I’ve been on my phone far more than I should have been today. If you can try and keep moving, it might not help but it might help you to not feel like you’re going mad. A walk up and down the corridor if you can! You definitely need snacks. Good idea to send him home. I really hope things start moving soon!
Thanks so much for posting. I tried to keep calm as I opened your message! We’re all still on your shoulder xx

SlightlyJaded · 17/12/2024 20:11

Thinking of you this evening OP

hereismydog · 19/12/2024 09:54

No baby yet 😔

I’m having regular contractions but my waters haven’t broken and I’m not dilating past 1cm 😭 consultant coming back to see me in half an hour to talk next steps. I REALLY don’t want a section!

omg I literally shouted oh when I saw you’d updated! I couldn’t click quick enough! Everything crossed for you! Keep moving!

you’re doing so well xx

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 19/12/2024 10:27

You must be exhausted. I hope you've managed to get some sleep.

My daughter was induced at 37 weeks (twins).

She started contractions almost immediately. Her contractions were varying between every 10 min and continuous for just over 48 hours before she gave birth. She also wanted to avoid a section.

She chose a drip to speed things up as a last resort. Her consultant gave her a time frame which would've resulted in a section had she gone past it.

Good luck!

BreathingDeep · 19/12/2024 16:13

Sending you all the love, you must be exhausted. So hope little one is safely in your arms before you know it and all of us strangers on the internet can cheer for you! xxxx

Pearl97 · 19/12/2024 19:25

What @BreathingDeep said! Us strangers are thinking of you so much!

hereismydog · 19/12/2024 22:11

Still nothing 😔 my waters haven’t broken and they can’t reach my cervix to break them. I’ve had five vaginal exams today by different people to try and break them and all it’s done is make me cry and bleed because I find them so so painful, and to add insult to injury I’m still stuck at 1cm. Had my third dose of the Prostin gel tonight but not expecting much to happen.

Had a big, stroppy cry on DP and the lovely midwife this afternoon because I’m so tired and frustrated from having all these painful contractions without any dilation to show for them. Going for a bath in a minute, but the bathroom is unfortunately right next door to a woman who is labouring very loudly, and I never thought I’d be jealous but here we are!

Wish I had a squishier update. 😪

We’re grateful for the update as we are really thinking of you! I was in labour for days too, it’s so annoying but however way baby arrives when they are here you will forget all of the madness of the past few days. I will be thinking of you when I go to sleep tonight and you will be the first person I think of when I wake up tomorrow xx

Baby just isn't ready to come out, sometimes it happens.

This is completely up to you and no one else, but if I were you, I'd be asking for the CS, just to get some rest!

Ponche · 19/12/2024 22:33

hi@hereismydog sorry you have so much going on but wishing you a safe delivery of your baby and a successful operation next month.

I also really struggled with the vaginal examinations and after the first couple, I asked for gas and air for the next ones and it really helped. Not sure if that’s an option for you?

I’d have the section if I wasn’t having the thyroid surgery in less than six weeks, I just don’t know how I could cope with recovering from two major operations with a newborn Sad not to mention the extra risks to my health/life of having two surgeries so close together. I’m going to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

Yes, I’ve been having gas and air for VEs since the third one today because I couldn’t cope with any more! Definitely takes the edge off it. They are brutal Shock

@hereismydog I just found this thread for the first time and have read your posts. You seem like such an absolute hero. Your posts are so calm and organised. I just wondered if I could say how much I admire your attitude? I hope things go well for your delivery. FlowersBrewCake

ResultsMayVary · 20/12/2024 02:10

I hope you are now out the other side and are happy with the outcome.

My induced birth was slow to process, my waters never broke - he was born in the sack.

Bimblesalong · 20/12/2024 11:18

Hoping all is going well.

BreathingDeep · 20/12/2024 16:22

Still checking in and cheering you on my love. You are a warrior! Sending all the love, xxx

hereismydog · 20/12/2024 22:33

Hellooo. I could write a book on this by now 😂

Still no baby. I’ve had 5 rods put in my cervix to mechanically dilate it today, it feels entirely medieval but hopefully it’s doing the trick. They’re coming out at 6am and hopefully I’ve dilated enough for them to be able to break my waters.

Baby is now officially OVERDUE!

Pearl97 · 20/12/2024 22:47

omg I hope you have some pain relief. This is going to be a story you can tell for years!

we’re all thinking of you. Come on cervix, we want to see baby!!! Xxx

hereismydog · 21/12/2024 07:34
